Chapter ten

Mackenzie

After another night of love making, Anita and I went back to her place. My mother had called her asking for us to come back so we could talk. I wasn't looking forward to it, but I always respected my mother and what she said. So I will face whatever is to come next.

I was nervous about what they wanted to talk about. Anita picked up on that and squeezed my hand. She smiles and I let out a calming breath. "It's okay Mackenzie, I'm sure they just want to know where we stand. Your mother looked upset after you left. Your grandmother wasn't trying to upset you. She wanted to see if I was worthy enough for you," she says quietly as we reach her front door.

"That wasn't her decision to make," I say with a hint of anger.
