"Aren't you going to ask me where I've been?" I ask as she moves around the house.

"Are you going to tell me where you've been if I ask?" She pauses to stare at me.

I break eye contact, my attention returning to the breakfast she's prepared for me as I struggle for an answer. She's right. I can't tell her where I've been. But I find it strange that she's not asking.
