Chapter 8
The Unexpected Visitor
Amelia
Leila was hiding something. She didn't act too different today, there was just a specific light in her eyes. Like she was looking forward to something.
Did she and Damien reconcile?...no,that was unlikely. She wasn't the type to forgive easily. Maybe a new partner for the breeding ceremony?
I shook my head. That wasn't it either, Leila wasn't the type to up and get pregnant without any preparation. I shouldn't be worried about it but her new behavior has been putting me on an edge, coupled with the fact that she's been spending time with Alpha Xander.
Fucking whore…I know that she isn't sleeping with him, she doesn't return home with his scent on her, that was a relieve.
I entered her room. It was annoyingly neat.
“What are you hiding?” I murmured carelessly searching her wardrobe. I didn't bother to place the things I threw out in place. She'll know I was here but there's nothing she can do about it.
“What are you doing?” mom asked from the door.
“Looking for whatever Leila's hiding.”
“Hiding?”
I paused the search of under Leila's bed and got up.
“Didn't Leila look different this morning?”
“Amelia, the breeding season starts today. Every omega looks different today.” She didn't look or sound impressed.
“No, no. Not that…she looked like she was looking forward to something…expecting something to happen…”
“You do realize that this is the first breeding season she'll be attending.”
Last breeding season, I had ‘accidentally’ pushed her down the stairs and she sprained her ankle.
“I know…but I have a feeling that isn't the case either mother.”
Mom eyed me, I could see she was finally taking me seriously.
“Alright, tell me what's on your mind.”
I beamed, no one supported me more than my mom.
“Leila has been spending most of her free time with the Alpha, if he's around. If not, she's in general Regan's house.”
“She works there.”
Mom wasn't one to rush to conclusions without real evidence except when it suited her.
“You're right but if she was looking forward to the ceremony won't she be home by now? I spoke to a friend of mine that went to the healer today, she said the place was packed in the morning but by afternoon the crowd had thinned.”
Mom had a thoughtful look on her face.
“She didn't pack any bag and hasn't carried any with her this week. There's nothing for her to wear except the healers old clothes in the general's house so why isn't she back?”
“She might be on her way.”
“Yes but…”
There was a knock on the door. It definitely wasn't Leila.
“I'll see who it is” mom said getting up, “go and prepare for the night.”
I nodded but followed her to the door.
“General Regan, what a surprise” mother said as she saw who was outside.
Leila…something must have happened because the general wasn't here for dad. They all gathered for a meeting with Alpha Xander and I'm sure he's coming from there.
“Sonia, good evening. Is your daughter in?”
“Of course.” Mom opened the door wider and I stepped forward, standing by her side.
“Good evening General Regan.”
Why was there an entourage of omegas behind him? What's going on?
“Good evening Amelia. Sonia I'm sorry, I meant your other daughter, Leila.”
“May I ask why you're asking for her?” Mother asked, ignoring his mistake.
“Alpha Xander sent these omegas to prepare her, she has been given the role of Luna for the ceremony.”
What?! Luna?!!...that bitch!!! She knew how bad I wanted to be Luna and yet…this was what she was fucking hiding.
But, why did dad not say anything? Did he not know?
“Oh, I see…” I'm sure the general didn't notice but mom's eyes got darker, “...she hasn't come back since she went to your place.”
“I see, sorry to trouble you.”
I watched him turn and it felt like this opportunity was slipping from my fingers.
“General, won't it be better for the omegas to wait here. I'm sure that they are almost tired and they'll need their energy to get Leila ready.”
They need to be here to prepare me instead. If I show up in Leila's place, it will be too late for anybody to change it.
General Regan looked at me and I tried to not flinch from his harsh gaze. It's like he knew what was going on in my head.
“Thank you for your concerns but the distance to my house isn't much.”
“See you at the ceremony general.”
“You too Sonia.”
They turned and left, leaving me standing and stewing in my rage.

Leila
Marenza asked me to soak in warm water for a bit before the omegas that Regan came with started anything on me. She claimed it will relax my nerves, I had argued that I wasn't nervous but it turned out that she was correct.
I sighed and slid further into the bath. I didn't want my family to know I was Luna until they saw me in the ceremony but according to Regan that wasn't the case anymore.
I'm glad that at least I wasn't getting ready at home. I won't put it pass Amelia to pull an annoying prank.
“Alright sweetie, time to shine” Marenza said holding up a towel.
I smiled and got up.
By the time the omegas were done with pushing me about, which had amused Marenza, I couldn't believe I was the person in the mirror.
They had managed to straighten my unruly curly hair, it reached my lower back. Whatever they applied on my eyes made their green color more vivid and my lips were a beautiful shade of pink.
“Sweetie…” Marenza cooed with glistering eyes, “...you look so stunning.”
I smiled, my eyes suspiciously wet. She was like my self proclaimed mother and I was happy she was here with me in this moment.
“Thank you…”
“No, no…no crying this night except in pleasure.”
I laughed, my cheek coloring.
“Thank you” I said
to the omegas. They smiled in response.
“Alright, time to show this stunning view to the pack” Regan said entering the room.
We laughed.
Chapter 10The Welcome XanderRegan was late. That wasn't his style. The pack members were gathering, they weren't complete yet so there was still time.“Something is wrong” the priestess said. She stood by my side, her eyes on the growing crowd, “my omegas are late. Something is delaying them and it isn't good.”I would be foolish to ignore my gut feeling and her words.“I'll send someone…”“Alpha!!” one of the omegas shouted as she ran into the clearing. The crowd became silent and created a path for her.The smell of her blood reached me and I jumped off the podium. I reached her just as the priestess came down the podium.Leila…“What's wrong?”She fell on her knees, holding her bloodied side “We were attached…they took the Luna.”What?! Hala growled.“Where?” The priestess asked, kneeling beside her.“Not too far from here. They weren't from the pack.”“Get the healer to treat her” I said to the priestess, “Carlson!” I called.“Alpha” he replied already by my side with Marc my
Chapter 9My AgonyLeila The moon was so beautiful in the sky. It felt like the goddess was watching her children about to create children of their own.Marenza was doing some finishing touch with the help of one of the omegas. “How are you feeling?” asked Regan who came to stand beside me.Like I had a hive of bees in my stomach. Was I going to have sex with Xander this night? For some reason, this was the first time the thought entered my head after he asked me to be Luna.“Nervous.”He nodded, “it's normal. Don't worry, we will be by your side.”My heart warmed. This people that weren't my family in any way always did better than my actual family did. I pray the goddess grants them their wish this night.“Has your dad talked to you?”“No. He's still ignoring me. I don't know what to do so I decided to stop worrying about it. I've come to realize that he is the one at fault not me.”“That's my girl” Regan said and I smiled.“I'm here!” Marenza announced, the omega walking behind h

Chapter 7Becoming the LunaLeila Dad has not spoken to me since the incident. He was ignoring my existence, he didn't reply to my greetings and it was annoying that I still had to greet him.My family doesn't know that I'm filling the role of Luna this night. Alpha Xander didn't tell my dad either.“Didn't we have bacon yesterday morning?” Amelia asked, walking into the kitchen.“Good morning” I replied, ignoring her question. I placed the final plate on the table.“Don't ignore me Leila.” She took a seat, “pour a glass of milk for me. I'm in the mood for that.”I bit back a reply. Amelia has been acting like a bigger bitch recently. Maybe because her mother had promised retribution or because her heat was this night. Goddess knows it affected everyone differently. My mood was very good and I won't let her disrupt it. I dropped the rag I was using to clean up my cooking table and went to pour the milk.“I don't want to eat bacons today, we had it yesterday and I know that father is
Chapter 6The Alpha's RageLeila I wish I could stay. I should be able to stay but I just called off my mating ceremony. Sleeping in another man's house even if he's the Alpha of our pack doesn't speak well of me.“Good night Alpha.”I was stuffed. He kept on adding more to my plate and insisting I finished it. The delicious taste kept me from refusing.“Good night Leila.” He stroked my hair. A pleased smile formed on my lips. Alpha Xander stood at the door and watched me leave. The security in the pack was tight with guards on patrol duty round the clock and torches lighting up the road. It was foolish to assume that our night vision can keep us aware of everything that happened around us in the dark.“You have the guts to come back here” my stepmother voice said in the dark making my heart miss a beat. The pallor was dark so I didn't notice her when I walked in.“Don't you think you've done enough?”She sounded calm. Sonia was too elegant to shout, too collected to let her emotio
Chapter 5Controlling HalaXander As I watched the so called friends of my mate leave, I regretted not creating a law against cheating. They looked like they regretted it but I know they will do it again. Soon.Selfishly, I was happy that that coward didn't touch my mate and the mating ceremony was called off but I know that it hurt my mate. I don't like seeing her hurt. It was also insulting, my mate was goddamn perfect and anyone who couldn't see that was a fool.I've known she was mine the moment she turned eighteen. It was too late then, she was already in love with Damien and her link wasn't good enough to sense me as her mate.Hala, my wolf started pacing, he has been on an edge since she barged into my office with flashing eyes and red cheeks. It was hard to keep him from tearing Carlson apart limbs by limbs but I managed…rather, he calmed down a bit after realizing that I also wanted to kill my supposed right hand man.Leila was outside the door, her scent came in with the b
Chapter 4A visit to the Alpha's Office Leila “Alpha Xander is already giving him a punishment,” Regan said from their kitchen.“I don't even understand how he can do that to his own kid!! There's a difference between abuse and punishment, this is abuse. That's what I see it as!”“Yeah…I wish I got my hands on him…too bad the Alpha got to him first” Regan had a scary glint in his eyes.“That doesn't mean that more can't be added…” she led me to her work room, “...was it Damien that reported to Alpha Xander?”“No…I did.”Marenza looked at me in shock. I know, confrontations are not my thing.“Yeah. We were in the middle of discussing how the pack was doing when we heard someone running…” Regan began as he entered the room with a plate of chicken, “...I thought it was a child that was playing too close, Beta Carlson wanted to turn him back but Alpha Xander asked him to leave the kid.”Marenza snorted, she started mixing her ingredients. “I'm pretty sure that he knew it was Leila. That
Chapter 3The Alpha's Intervention ***Leila POV****I could feel all their stares but I didn't raise my head.It was foolish I know, almost too daring but that was the only way out of this mating ceremony I could think of.“Raise your head,” Alpha Xander said. His voice firm and uncompromising I raised my head and met his eyes. They were dark and unfathomable. I could not see any emotions in them.“Repeat yourself” he ordered.“I caught my fiance cheating on me. I made my father aware of it and yet, my father wants me to go along with the mating ceremony.”The hair at the back of my neck stood at the instant change in the room's atmosphere. I looked around noticing that I wasn't the only one that was tensed up.“Carlson, what do you have to say for yourself?”“Alpha, I'm looking out for my daughter. She has been friends with her fiance for a long time, I do not want her to end a friendship based on a misunderstanding.”“Are you trying to say that cheating is a misunderstanding?” Alph
Chapter 2Dad in Action ****Leila POV***Beta Carlson, strong, huge, a skilled hunter and a deadly wolf. Definitely not someone you want to be on his bad side.He was also my currently pissed off father. He turned and looked at me. The warning in his eyes would have made me stop any other day. But, the rage in my mind made today different.“Repeat that.” His voice was chilling.“There are only two things that will happen if you force me into this marriage…”My heart was beating so hard, I thought it was about to leave my chest.“... Damien will get so sick of me and kill me himself or I will kill him…that will definitely happen because I won't let myself get killed by that type of man…”Was I bluffing? Probably, the anger in my veins stopped me from feeling any other thing. But, mentally I know that there's no way I can go from loving someone to killing them. At least, not on the same day.“Leila!!”Angry red veins threatened to pop out of father's head. Damien had shifted to a corne
