Damien

I have been trying to pull Serena closer to me when I felt us drifting apart. I felt the distance between us broadening, which broke my heart. I was going to take us seriously , so I tried. Not until I had to ruin everything.

Every bit of us these 3 years got messed up when I found out I did what I wasn't supposed to do. I feel like a jerk. An asshole. But I guess it is too late.

I see her trying every possible best to get closer to me.

I just don't know how to approach her, thinking o

Seem there were some discrepancies in the narrative.. Damien had said he loved Rose as heard by Serena after he knew of Rose’s pregnancy and not simply for want of a heir . Their conversation seem to point they were having affairs and not just one drunken night mistake . He told Rose she couldn’t

  • The Divorce That Ruined Him   The Postcard from London

DamienIt was seven-thirty in the morning. The dark, comforting aroma of rising sourdough and dark-roasted chicory coffee drifted up through the gaps in the pine floorboards, thick enough to taste.I sat behind my second-hand desk, a steaming ceramic mug of black tea resting on a cork coaster beside a three-inch stack of municipal zoning filings for the neighborhood grocer. My right knee was throbbing with a daily deep, grinding ache that always did when the air rolled inland over the bay, but the pain was an old, predictable companion now. It ground against the shattered cartilage in a way that kept me brutally anchored to the physical world, reminding me with every pulse that I was alive, frail, and human.A heavy, wet footstep sounded on the worn wooden stairwell outside. The mail slot set into the bottom panel of the door clattered open with a sharp metallic snap, and a single piece of heavy cardstock fluttered through, skimming across the linoleum before coming to rest near th

  • The Divorce That Ruined Him   Rose's Total Defeat

RoseThe high, narrow slit of a window set near the concrete ceiling of my cell offered only a tiny, rectangular strip of the sky, heavily crisscrossed by six thick, square-cut iron security bars.I sat frozen on the edge of my narrow metal cot, my thin, graying hair pulled back into a tight, severe knot at the base of my neck. My fingers which had once been manicured to porcelain perfection twice a week, dripping with rare canary diamonds and emerald rings that could easily purchase a sports car... were now rough, heavily calloused, and permanently stained with blue ink from the cheap, plastic ballpoint pens I bought for three dollars a pack from the prison commissary. On the small, bolted-down concrete table in front of me sat a towering stack of four hundred handwritten pages, held together by frayed rubber bands... my life's blood, my daily bread, and my absolute obsession for the past years.THE HOUSE OF HOLT: THE REAL STORY OF POWER, BETRAYAL, AND SURVIVAL.It was my undispute

  • The Divorce That Ruined Him   The Quiet Years Begins

DamienThe small plate screwed into the brickwork beside the narrow door at the Third Street didn't shine. It lacked the polished, intimidating gleam that had once spanned three floors of Holt Tower’s grand lobby. It was small, unpretentious, and slightly tarnished at the corners from salt air blowing inland from the bay.It read simply: D. H. HOLT-Advisory There were no high-speed elevators waiting inside to carry elite executives to floor sixty. The office consisted of two small rooms on the second floor of a brick building, located directly above a neighborhood bakery. The building breathed with a life of its own. Every morning at five o'clock, long before my alarm went off, the floorboards would vibrate gently as the bakers downstairs turned on the industrial mixers. I sat behind my modest desk reviewing a thick stack of lease documents. The file belonged to Mr. Anderson, an old tailor who had operated a modest alteration shop three doors down the block for over four decade

  • The Divorce That Ruined Him   Zara’s Truth, Same reminder!

DamienAt precisely nine o'clock, heavy foots thudded up the staircase. A brief, familiar knock rattled the frosted glass panel of the door before the brass mail slot clattered open."Morning, Mr. Holt," the mail carrier called out, his voice muffled by the thick door. "Just the usual today."I waited for the sound of his footsteps to retreat down the stairs before I pushed myself up from my chair, my right knee popping with a dull, sickening crack that sent a sharp spike of heat up my thigh. Leaning heavily on my walking stick, I limped across the worn floorboards to the door.I knelt down slowly, my joints groaning against the strain, and picked up the small pile lying on the floor mat.Today, there were only three utility bills for electric and heating, a printed newsletter from the Bay Ridge Merchants Association regarding the upcoming autumn street fair, and a single, heavy envelope resting at the bottom of the stack.I froze, my hand hovering over the paper. In the upper right

  • The Divorce That Ruined Him   Empty

DamienThe gates of the old Hale estate swung open with a light push. I stood at the entrance on the newly laid crushed walkway, both hands clamped over the curved handle of my wood walking stick. Every breath I pulled in brought the sharp, salty sting of tide mixed with the raw, wet scent of freshly turned earth and diesel exhaust from a municipal flatbed truck idling by the curb. Two city workers in yellow vests were hauling heavy teak benches off the back of the bed, their work boots crunching against the gravel as they dropped the wooden frames into the soft soil.Where the heavy, hand carved sign once hung. The one Victor Hale had commissioned with deep set gold leaf lettering that proclaimed ,THE HALE MANOR - PRIVATE RESIDENCE— there was only a flat, brushed plaque bolted cleanly into the ancient granite pillar.A sharp, hot knife of agony shot up through my right knee down to the ankle, a reminder of the shattered joint that had never healed right after the crash. I clamp

  • The Divorce That Ruined Him   Elias's Foundation

EliasThe weight of the academic gown pressed down on my shoulders, heavy with the humid summer air trapped inside the university auditorium.Around me, four hundred voices hummed in a rising choir of nervous laughter, the rustle of stiff parchment diplomas, and the continuous, blinding flash of camera bulbs from families packed into the rising tiers of wooden bleachers.I stood near the edge of the stage, my fingers mindlessly adjusting the satin honors sash draped across my chest. I brushed my thumb over the gold embroidered seal of the law faculty, but my mind refused to anchor itself to the thunderous applause echoing off the wooden rafters. For years ago, when the name Holt still carried the terrifying weight of court injunctions, hostile corporate takeovers, and backroom judicial bribes, walking through these halls meant carrying a target drawn in blood directly on my back. Professors had watched me from behind their podiums through narrowed, skeptical eyes, waiting for the tr

  • The Divorce That Ruined Him   Victor's Last Good Days

Serena Victor had been a little off. The Victor I had known this short period was the giddy type. He had good days and bad days, and the good days were so good that they made the bad days harder to absorb. And I'm sure this is one of the odd ones. On the good day, he was sharp and demanding and

  • The Divorce That Ruined Him   Grief and Strategy

RoseI rubbed my now visible belly, which had grown into the size of a double football.Satisfaction seeped into my heart thinking about the fact that everything was falling into places just like I wanted.I was twenty-two weeks now. Damien had become a bit distance, but I don't mind. As long as I

Serena's POV “Okay, I'll have everything prepared by the end of the week, Mrs Whitmore. Then, we'll schedule a proper meeting to go over the terms.” “That's fine. Thank you, Mr Lawrence.” The call ended. For a moment, I just stood there on the pavement with my phone still warm in my palm. A woma

  • The Divorce That Ruined Him   A Divorce

“Miss, are you sure about this?” The doctor stared deeply into my eyes hoping to see if I was joking or would change my mind. “Yes, I haven't been as sure as I am now.” My voice came out steadier than I expected. She set her pen down slowly. “Mrs Whitmore” she folded her hands. “You don't need
