Chapter four

Melanie was working when her phone suddenly rang. She sighed and immediately picked up the call.

"Hey Chels! I'm busy I'll call you back soon" She said and made to hang up.

"Wait?! I'm making seaweed soup for dinner. Will you be home early?" She asked.

"Sorry Chels! I'm on night duty today. I totally forgot!" She said.

"Uhm! It's okay. I understand" Her voice seemed a bit down.

"But can you leave some for me. I'm sure you know how much I love your cooking. It's so delicious!" Melanie said trying to cheer her up and it worked.

Chelsea giggled and muttered an "Okay" before she hang up.

Melanie then focused on her laptop. As she started to operate on it, she began to feel dizzy. After some time she gave up and leaned on her chair just to take a little nap.

In her dreams.

" Dad, drive more faster" Melanie giggled as she watched the rain drop. Oh! How much she loved playing in the rain so much.

"Melanie, I cannot go more faster than this. It's raining and we might have an accident" Her father explained to her and she pouted. She just wanted to get back home and play in the rain.

"I know you just want to play in the rain" Her mother said and she laughed.

"Yeah Mum, support your husband as usual!" Melanie said with an eye roll and they all  

laughed.

Suddenly they noticed a car coming towards them with full speed. Her father had tried to swerve but it was too late.

"Dad, stop the car!" She yelled out in tears. She has always been afraid of accidents.

"Honey, Honey stop the car" Her mother said.

"Honey, I can't. I just can't,I don't know why" Her father replied

"Nooo, Noooo, mum, dad stop it no, no please.

"Aaaaaaaaarrrggh!" Melanie scream was heard as the two cars ran into each other.

Melanie woke up breathing heavily. She suddenly felt choked up. Beads of sweat fell from her forehead even if they were in the winter period. 

She quickly picked her handkerchief with trembling hands and she wiped her face with it.

"Why did the dream have to haunt me right here in the hospital" She thought.

A knock was heard on the door.

She flinched slightly before she responded. Her body was still trembling slightly.

"Who's there?" She asked.

"Hm, I was told to come to your room to see you. Doc Melanie right?" The person asked from outside.

"Yeah, come in" She said.

"Calm down! Melanie, calm down!" She told herself and clenched her fists.

"Why are fucking avoiding me?!" The lady asked and Jacob sighed and ran his hands into his hair.

"I told you that I'm done with you right? So get out?" He said.

"I'll repay for this Jerk" She said and he smirked and watched her leave.

"This is all that Melanie's fault. He honestly thought that he just wanted to have fun with her and dump her but things are getting serious now. He can't get her off his mind" He thought. 

He picked up his cars keys and headed straight to the hospital. He was also on his night shift.

As soon as he came down from his car. He didn't even bother to go his own office. He knew that it was irresponsible of him but he cared less. He just wanted to get answers to those damn questions disturbing him.

"Is Doc Melanie still around?" He asked a nurse.

"Yeah, she just finished with her last patient" The nurse answered and he nodded.

He walked up to her office and knocked softly on it but he didn't receive any response. He knocked three more times but when he did not receive any response. He opened the door and there he found her with an headset on her head. She was humming and arranging some things in her shelf.

He stood for a while admiring her until she suddenly turned back. Her eyes dilated immediately she saw him.

"What are you doing here?" She asked angrily as she removed the headset and placed it on the table.

"Chill! I only came to ask you something" He said and walked towards her.

"What are you..." She couldn't complete her statement because he moved her closer to her and pulled her into a kiss.

Melanie's eyes dilated in shock and before she could even do anything. The door opened revealing Dan.
