VALENTINA’s POV

"I am Luca Delgado. I am sorry that I could not join dinner princess." He said, locking his eyes on mine.

I took a deep breath and became rigid.

"Don't call me that," I retorted, my jaw tight. He shifted his gaze elsewhere before focusing on me once more.

"Well, what should I call you?" He questioned, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a cigarette. He lit it up and started puffing.

I can see it now. the way he acts and speaks. A typical mafia head.

"I'm Valentina," I said serious face.

"Valentina.." He tried my name on his tongue.

His eyes sparkled even more in the moonlight. "That's a pretty name for such a beautiful lady," he whispered in my ear as he leaned in a bit.

The hairs on my neck stood on end as I felt his heated breath blow on my skin. I wasn't captivated by that, but other girls would have been.

"Would you like one?" he said, extending his cigarette, which was covered with ash and flames. I nodded in disbelief. "No."

"Are you a virtuous girl?" he asked with a laugh that made my stomach tingle.

"What the hell? We have to be clear about one thing." By being a good girl, I haven't achieved my current position.

There is no real connection between this couple other than on paper. I'm not going to be a stay at home mom. If you behave indecently, I will retort and not think twice about fucking you up." As my face remained impassive, I let out a low growl.

He threw his cigarette on the floor after blowing it between his lips.

What I said didn't seem to have any impact on him, or he didn't let on. He hummed while staring at my face as he turned around to confront me. "I like you."

I frowned. How should one respond to that? Asshole. He straight his hand and attempted to touch my thigh. I quickly held his hand firmly, and twisted back, a trick I learned at a young age.

He barely moved and didn't even show any hint of pain. He just grinned in response.

The jerk grinned.

And he was really attractive in a devilish way. As I released his hand, I pushed away the tingling sensation I felt as our hands made contact.

I watched him as he stroked his hair with his hand. He was well aware of where the boundaries were.

And he isn't a disgrace. "I apologize for that." I just wanted to observe how you would respond." He offered a simple apology.

"My reaction?" I sneered as I pushed my hair back, which was fluttering in the soft breeze. "I would have cut your hand."

"Good answer," he hummed again. I gave him another look. I asked, "What would you do if I touched you?" Damn. My enormous, fucking mouth. "I'd let you," he said, flashing his flawlessly white teeth.

I prayed that the blush I was wearing wouldn't be noticeable, but I could feel my cheeks getting warmer.

I gave a little laugh. "Shit, I should have seen that coming."

As he stood up and cracked his neck, he laughed. He extended a hand in my direction. By turning away from him and approaching the house, I stood up and rejected his arm.

I also saw his attractive escort. Additionally, I noticed that Vix's gaze remained on him for an excessive amount of time.

As we all entered, I heard footsteps behind me. Father wanted to leave the house as soon as he walked in for the evening. We said goodbye and departed.

Once more, I rode in the same car as my father. "What do you think of him?" he questioned. I retorted, "Why do you care?" Damn.

I'm desperately in need of sleep and the man is simply unbearable. God, I could see it coming.

Father swiftly leaned in and slapped me on the cheek. I allowed him to do it. I didn't care about the agony.

The consequences of retaliating would be catastrophic. "Don't talk to me like that. I am your father," the piece of trash said once more. You should treat me with respect.

I glanced over at him. "Forgive me. I'm just really exhausted...I like him, he seems nice." I glanced at my hands.

My father burst out laughing at me. "Him good." You're such a fucking slut, really.

He did not become who he is by being merely 'decent.' He chuckled, his stomach bursting with joy.

I averted my gaze and hoped I was anywhere else. We quickly made it to a hotel. The usual five stars. After checking in, I enjoyed the opulent view from my penthouse suite, where I will be staying for the next two nights.

The marriage was scheduled to take place in two days. Two freaking days.

As the idea of fleeing through my head again, my heart pounded. Is it preferable for me to be free and not compelled to marry? I would be a total coward, no.

Rather than being known as a coward, I would prefer to die defending my mafia.

I changed into comfy clothes before lying down on the bed. Before throwing my phone on the chair next to the bed, I glanced at the clock. I was completely awake at a time when it was a little after midnight.

Vix, knowing that I wasn’t able to sleep, she asked me as she walked into the room, "Well, what did you think about him?"

As usual, there were many guards stationed outside my door. I gave the area next to me a pat and grinned. She went over and took a seat.

Her caramel hair was still tied back in a ponytail since she was still at work, and she was wearing her tight-fitting suit.

As I looked up at the white ceiling, I remarked, "He's a bastard, like all men are."

Valentina, I watched you blush. No one has ever done that to you before, she said with a grin. I sighed as she went on, "I have a good feeling about him and I can read people pretty well."

"What about you and his guard?" I hummed, giving her a glance. She didn't make eye contact with me.

"I knew it! You find him attractive," I said, grinning. I understood why. He was a tall glass of screw me.

She attempted to ignore it by picking at nonexistent dust particles on the bed while smiling. I turned to face her on my side.

"Truthfully, He is a good-looking guy. If he weren't, well, you know, I would have fucked him. "It's too complicated," I said, pursing my lips.

"It's not complicated at all," she said, grinning as she examined her unadorned nails. You will soon be married legally, so by all means, sex him."

"It's a matter of principle, Vix," I said as I stroked the bed sheet with my fingertips. She nodded hesitantly. "I sincerely want the best for you Valentina.

So at least try with him. Don't push him away."

If I were in her place, I would have been all over him, but she chose to like Lorenzo instead. "Yes, he will get angry, but I'll tell him it was my fault," I said with a smile as I handed her the gun before she could object. "Go ahead and shoot. " I pointed at the fancy vase on the other side of the room. She bit her lip but lifted the gun. "A little lower," I directed her. She followed my advice, holding her breath before perfectly hitting the vase. "What the heck! " I shouted as I watched the vase shatter. She was a better shooter than I was. Wow. "How did you pull that off? " I asked her. She shrugged and set the gun down on the coffee table. "I just aimed and fired," she replied. I wished I had learned to shoot better, but I was skilled with knives, so I didn’t worry about it. I pi

Ever since he started his new life, I barely get to see him. He still lives in Italy, but I didn't want to interfere with his happiness. I did miss that fucking annoying guy. I was really glad to see his not-so-pretty face; I bet Luca called him to come by. Lately, he's been such a thoughtful person. Do I like it? Absolutely. Liana came with Lorenzo, and I didn’t mind that. She’s actually not too bad. I guess I could get used to her. I was really let down by myself; I should have fought more fiercely. Javier was such a worthless person. I was almost out of it from losing so much blood, but I would never forgive myself if something happened to the baby. I always told myself I didn’t need anyone’s help and that I had to handle everything alone. But you know what? Javier is dead. Luca made a wrong choice, one

" Nico stumbled over his words, looking back and forth between Valentina and me. Valentina just gave him a teasing look, just like the one she had when she found out about Dante and Vix’s baby, and I didn’t. "Right, he has no idea," I said to Valentina. She nodded. He must be really confused. I would never put out an unsmoked cigarette, and Valentina would never tell me to stop smoking. "Your mother would have said something by now, right? " She smirked and crossed her arms. I shrugged. My mother was just another puzzle I didn’t want to figure out. I was honestly surprised she hadn’t told anyone else. "What's happening? " Nico asked again, clearly impatient. Valentina laughed, throwing her head back. It was a genuine laugh; I had missed hearing it. I smiled and waited until she finished. She encouraged me to tell him. "You're going t

The doctor mentioned that if the flames had touched her skin for just three more seconds, it could have resulted in lasting scars. Her wrists had gotten much better. I had learned some of what he did to her. Dante had captured one of his guys and made him spill the beans. "You did this, Luca. You killed his brother. Look at my leg. Fuck, my arm. You know this is all because of you," Valentina growled. It really was my fault. I glanced at her leg and then back at her. "I'm so sorry," I said quietly. "I really can't express how sorry I am. It's my fault, and I would have traded places with you in an instant if I could. I'm sorry, amore mio. Please forgive me. " I was still on my knees. I felt her hand gently touch my cheek, and I leaned in closer. She held my face and us

WARNING SIGNS: LANGUAGE THAT IS UNAMBIGUOUS CURSING VIOLENCE, GUN VIOLENCE SELF-INFLICTED HARM BLOOD, DECEASE, and GORELUCA POVAfter I finished eating lunch in the kitchen, I went back upstairs. Dante nearly pushed me out of my room and insisted that I eat my food downstairs. He had to go back to Vix, and I could see why. But he stayed with me for a while because I was in a bad state. He didn’t like seeing me upset. I was also very irritable because I hadn’t slept much, and soon the tiredness was going to hit me hard. But I would have preferred to stay with her. I rubbed my eyes as I entered our bedroom. I felt welcomed by the warmth, with the lights dimmed down. The bed was made with soft silk, and no one would disturb her. Valentina was lying on the bed, wrapped up snugly. Her eyes were shut. I hadn’t seen her open them since that night. I missed those beautiful eyes. She was present but not really there. I longed for her so much. I was waiting for her to wake up. Sh

Before I could rush to find Javier to finish him off for good, Dante stopped me. He shouted over the sound of the gunfire. Valentina. I looked and saw the man on top of the container. He was behind Valentina, having taken the bag off her head and holding her tightly. He was using her as a shield. Her face was white, her mouth was covered, and she looked weak—too weak to fight back. She was too weak to even stand up. I took off running toward the container, forgetting all about Javier. I needed to reach her. She meant everything to me. I had nothing without her. I ran as fast as I could, my gun ready to shoot the man. But he kept Valentina in front of him. He pulled her along and, in an instant, he pushed her
