LOGINGaz shut the door behind himself feeling torn. Breeth was rather adamant about wanting her. He wasn’t faring much better himself. He took a deep sniff of his hand, the one that had been touching her face. The scent was making his loins stir. She smelled like volcanic ash. That was his favourite.
I will speak to Galcalar, Breeth was formulating a plan. He will persuade the Alpha King that she should be ours. Lillah, such a pretty name. And her eyes! Beautiful blue. So many things we like are blue – Topaz, Sapphires, Turquoise. Oh, what about blue granite? Don’t you just adore blue granite?
Breeth, shut up. You’re acting like a hatchling and giving me a headache in the process.
Uh-huh, a ‘headache’. That is not where our ache is and you know it. The dragon chuckled.
Look, once she has successfully produced a hatchling there will be no issue with us making a move. Until then we have to steer clear. It’s really not too long to wait. If like most of the Omega’s she becomes pregnant from the first try then it’s only going to be three months at the most.
Gaz… she didn’t have a strong reaction to any of the Vermale scents. We know what that means. It will likely take several attempts before the egg takes and even then she may not be able to fertilise it in time. Remember Jessy? She practically lived on Henry’s groin for five years before they managed it.
Ok, ok, we will speak to Alpha King Keegan but not tonight. It is only the first day that she is here and you know he will tell us to give it time for her to produce an egg before he even considers if he will release her from this obligation.
Ok, let’s stop standing outside her door and go get some relief.
Gaz could hear her exploring the rooms. Evidently Lillah had just discovered the gigantic bed. There were a multitude of happy giggles emanating from behind the door as she bounced on the bed. Oh how he wished they were bouncing on it together.
Yes, he told Breeth before reaching out to another through the mind-link, Jory? Are you busy?
Not particularly Beta Gaz, is there something I can help you with? Jory, the cute Oemale that Gaz often hooked up causally with replied.
Would you like to meet me in your quarters? Gaz asked, knowing Jory would know what he meant. Gaz felt Jory’s excitement through the mind-link.
I’m already there! Came the happy reply.
Jory’s rooms were on the other side of the Nest so Gaz headed to the nearest landing platform. It was typical for dragon-shifters to fly from one end of the Nest to the other either through the large corridors or around the outside. Beta Gaz felt like he needed some fresh air so had decided to take the outdoor route.
On his way he passed an elderly wolf Omega. She was long past breeding age; her hair had even turned white and there were wrinkles on her face. Gaz knew all of the Omegas by name, having been there for all the collections.
“Evening, Patty.” He nodded in passing.
“Evening, Beta Gaz.” She nodded back.
“Oh, Patty? Could I ask you something?” Gaz turned back.
“Of course, Beta Gaz.” The elderly Omega smiled, turning to face him.
“Rather an odd question and given how things are, a little embarrassing, but, er, the rocks? The newest Omega says wolf-shifters aren’t particularly interested in rocks?”
Patty smiled, holding in a laugh.
“Beta Gaz, I’m afraid that it is true.”
“What do wolf-shifters like then?”
“Many things.” She motioned to the books she was carrying. “For instance, I like books but everyone is different.”
“Thank you, that was very helpful.”
“Glad to be of service, Beta Gaz.” And with that Patty continued on her way.
I disagree, that wasn’t helpful at all.
At least it’s confirmed and Lillah didn’t leave us clueless – we know she likes plants. Gaz stepped off the landing platform, shifting into Breeth as he fell through the air. The evening was cool. They flew in silence, thinking about Lillah as they flew…
I’m here, Gaz told Jory, standing outside of the Oemale’s door.
Come on in.
Gaz walked in as he had done many times before. Like wolf-shifter Omegas, Oemales had an inner beast and the ability shift. While they were no less in tune with their dragon, they did not have the desire or need to shift as often or at all so many of them lived in quarters that were similar to the ones the wolf-shifter Omegas lived. Gaz’s quarters like most Males and Vermales were large enough to shift in and he had furniture that would fit his dragon form as well as his unshifted form.
“Busy day, huh?” Jory handed him a glass of wine.
“Yeh, it was tribute collection day.”
“I don’t know why you let it stress you out so much. We take better care of them here than their so called ‘Alphas’ do.”
“Jory… seeing them have their packbonds ripped away is horrific. It never gets easier.” Gaz gulped the wine, feeling a little better for the alcohol seeping into his blood stream.
“Well,” Jory took the now empty glass, “let me make you feel better.” He stood on his tiptoes to deliver a kiss. Oemales were usually smaller than both Vermales and Males. Jory was about 6’ 5” with jet black hair and eyes that were like hammered iron flecked with copper. He was easy company, not just in the bedroom but generally.
He deepened the kiss, one arm snaking around Gaz’s back to pull him closer. Jory’s member was already hard, Gaz could feel it pressing against his upper thigh. Gaz surrendered himself to Jory, allowing the Oemale to take the lead. It was their way. Whoever’s quarters they found themselves in was the dragon-shifter that took control. It was their way of keeping things even between themselves.
Jory’s lips moved with urgency. His tongue dipped into Gaz’s mouth, his hand went lower, grabbing the Beta’s ass. At the Oemales touch the stress of the day began to fade and Gaz’s own loins stirred in earnest. He momentarily regretted not inviting Jory to his quarters instead. That way he could have pounded into Jory, imagining it was Lillah but this was better. He didn’t have to think. He could just be here; in the moment.
Jory tugged on Gaz’s shirt, pulling him towards the bedroom while keeping their lips pressed together. He pushed Gaz on to the bed, excited to have the Beta in a position where he could access all of him.
“Goddess blessed, I swear you get sexier every time I see you.” Jory growled, clambering on top of him. With his hands under Gaz’s shirt Jory ground his ass down on the Beta’s hard bulge. Gaz groaned, closing his eyes for a second. With one hand Jory stroked the Beta’s slightly parted lips. He ran his fingers down Gaz’s chin, tracing his wind pipe to the base of his throat. His other hand inspected Gaz’s firm pecks and cut abs. Jory licked his own lips, anticipation curling in his gut as he unzipped his own trousers. He took Gaz’s hand and wrapped it around his pulsing erection. “Oh, I’m so hard for you.” He panted breathily. “Take off your shirt, before I rip it off.” Jory demanded, enjoying being in charge.
Rhy blinked. He was groggy from having woken in the middle of his nap. Whatever the specifics of what had happened between Lillah and Gaz, he wasn’t sure, but what he did know was Gaz had left looking ashamed and on the edge of tears, while Lillah had flung herself into his arms, weeping.Gaz wasn’t answering any mind-link and Lillah sobbed every time he asked her a question.“Oh, my sweet,” Rhy picked her up, cradling the Omega in his arms, “I’m here for you.” He kissed the top of her head. Rhyland carried her into the kitchen, grabbed a basket of snacks from a cupboard, then took the crying wolf-shifter to the bedroom. He tried the mind-link several times, each time the Vermale was met with a mental barrier.Rhy yawned, taking a box of tissues from the side of the bed and
Gaz… what happened?A worried Rhy spoke into his mind but Gaz shut it out. Everything felt lost. Ruined. Neither Lillah or Rhyland were marked. They could refuse him as their Mate and after what had just happened, he couldn’t blame them. Pressure was building at the base of his throat. The need to cry, to scream. Gaz swallowed it down, walking away from Lillah’s quarters with a quickening pace.I- Breeth began.Shut up. Gaz growled at his dragon, furious misery crushing his heart. I told you to leave it. I told you. She might never want to see us again. Fuck. We made her cry and Neeri was enraged.
Go outside then, Lillah told her Mate, trying to sound firm and in control but at the same time worrying about how she could detangle this situation. Lillah really wanted to keep the rocks a secret until the right time. She also didn’t want Gaz or Rhy thinking that every time she was off on her own at the Nest she was going to be in peril or they would probably stalk her down the halls and she would never have a moment to herself. There’s bleach under the sink, Gaz sounded pained and Lillah felt bad. He was her Mate and he was in distress.Nothing to be upset about, Neeri rolled her eyes, unimpressed.Lillah both agreed and disagreed. Gaz was dominant. Nesting was part of th
“Lillah?” Gaz looked up from his book. He’d heard the front door open and close but softly, like someone was trying not to be noticed.Or wake anyone that might be sleeping… Breeth chided Gaz for jumping to conclusions.True, could be the case, but I just announced I wasn’t asleep and no answer… so I’m going with sneaking. Gaz frowned, wondering what Lillah was doing sneaking around – if it was her. Lillah? Did I just hear you come in?Yup, just me.You have fun with Beth? Gaz started climbing out of bed.
You keep up well, Gilan complimented Neeri.Neeri did not answer. She wasn’t about to be speaking into this dragon’s mind when she had not yet even spoken to Breeth or Sarmin.“We are here.” Kurt announced, shifting back. Neeri stepped back and Lillah took her place. She peered into the large cave. “There are sconces, here.” He took one from the wall and breathed fire straight on to it.“Oh, I didn’t know dragon-shifters could do that unshifted.” Lillah took her own sconce and lit it from Kurt’s. The sconce was pretty heavy, but she was determined to do as much of this herself as she could. “Right, let’s get started.” She said brightly, stepping into the cave. “Wow…” she ma
Rubbish, Neeri complained, we don’t know what they like. We barely even like rocks so how are we going to pick one?Neeri… we like the rock Rhyland gave us. He didn’t know what we liked and he was able to choose. The goddess must oversee it. Besides – these rocks they are choosing from are different to what we have seen of rocks. I’m sure we will be more enamoured with them than we realise. Lillah showed her wolf a mental image of the chocolate Jasper she’d missed while sleeping. That is very different to the rock Rhyland gave us. You may be right. “Beth said that dragon-shifters get their rocks from the Cavern? Wh
