Ate POV

How did it all go up in smoke? I know I did the right thing. She will be in danger if she is with me. There is no way to get past that fact.

She is so much wiser than I gave her credit. She took what I said and knew from the start that I was lying. I don't even know how she did it. It still astonishes me.

I needed to get this out of the way. I will not be weak in the eyes of my enemies.

There is a knock on the door. I look up, and Mark enters.

"Was that Samantha leaving here? Did you tell her?" His eyes went wide.

"No, I did not tell her. She figured it out on her own. From what I could gather is that Jodie is a childhood friend before she got kidnapped. Her dragon smelled me on Jodie. That is when both women flipped out and came here." Mark began to laugh.

"I wish I was here to see that. If there is one thing that I love, it is when a woman loses their mind about something other than me. Okay, back to business. I am here because of a whole other situation regarding Samant
