Chapter 3

Author: Monthly Explosion
At that time, Trisha Miller was leading a prayer with the Miller family.

As soon as I got out of the car, I sent someone there to notify her. Then, I rushed into the infirmary with Sweeny in my arms.

Sweeny had woken up at some point.

His little hand was clutching the hem of my shirt tightly. Even then, he tried to comfort me.

“It doesn’t hurt, Daddy. Don’t cry…”

The more he tried to comfort me, the guiltier I felt.

If I had not taken him to the Miller family house today, we would not have met those two lunatics.

“Sir, please don’t panic. Master Sweeny… God will look after him.”

The doctor was so frightened by Sweeny’s weak breathing that his voice trembled.

Just as I placed the child in the medical pod, the infirmary door was kicked open.

Laina stormed in with a group of bodyguards. She had her arms around Raivo.

When she saw me, a smug look of satisfaction flashed across her face.

She said contemptuously, “You said you didn’t care, but here you are in the old mansion! How pretentious!”

Raivo leaned against her shoulder. His eyes were filled with venom.

“Noah, you stole my child, attacked me with a dagger, and now, you dare to step into this old mansion? Don’t you feel afraid of offending the head of the Miller family?

“Everyone in the Capital knows that if you offend the head of the Miller family, you’re as good as dead!”

Laina shooed the doctor out the door.

She grabbed me and dragged me into a corner. Her tone was impatient.

“Noah, for the sake of your undying love for me, I’ll give you one more chance. Get out of here!”

When Sweeny saw her bully me, he picked up a water jug and hurled it at her.

Crash!

Laina wiped the blood from her forehead. Her expression was dark and terrifying. She lifted Sweeny with one hand.

“Do you have a death wish? How dare you hit your own mother?!”

I saw Sweeny’s face turn blue.

I struggled with all my might and slapped Laina across the face.

“Let go of my son!”

Raivo’s face changed. He grabbed cotton pads from the table and tried to stuff it in my mouth.

“What are you on about?! Just die, and don’t drag us down with you! Don’t disrupt the family’s prayer time, or you’ll burn in hell for eternity!”

He suddenly went berserk and somehow summoned enough strength to slam me to the floor.

Before I knew it, my mouth was stuffed full of cotton.

I could not be bothered to care about anything else. I struggled and wrestled with Raivo.

Amid a series of muffled groans, Laina stared at me in utter shock.

“Noah, I entrusted you with my child because our families had a long-standing engagement. Your manners and background were commendable at that time. Look at you now!

“You’re no different from a lunatic! If the child stays with you, he’ll go mad. Starting today, Raivo and I will raise Sweeny ourselves!”

At that time, she suddenly let out a sharp cry of pain.

When Sweeny saw them gang up against me, he was frantic with worry. With all his might, he sank his teeth into Laina’s wrist.

He had suffered from asthma from childhood and had lived with me.

He was the closest to me.

When he was four, he used to wave his fists at the stray cats to keep them away from me. He used to stand in front of me and say in his baby voice, “As long as I’m here, don’t you dare pick on my dad!”

When I saw how Sweeny’s little body trembled, but he refused to let go of Laina, my heart ached for him.

I kicked Raivo to the floor with one final kick. I was just about to pull Sweeny back to me when Laina yanked my hair and kicked me away.

“Noah, how dare you raise my son as a beast who doesn’t even recognize his own parents?”

Since I said nothing, Trisha called out to me tentatively, “Noah, do you blame me?”She then hung her head and sighed, as if she was really sad. “It’s only right for you to blame me, but I swear that such a thing won’t happen again. It’s my fault this time, so you can punish me however you want!”Who would have thought that the fearsome and ruthless Trisha was a witch in sheep’s clothing who fought for affection at home?Laina might never find out the reason she was suddenly sent to another country to develop a new market. It was all Trisha’s idea. She only told me after I married her. To everyone’s surprise, Laina was stupid enough to bring Raivo back. After giving birth to her baby, she had someone b

They would not have fallen out. They would have continued to live as a couple just as before. They would have been married. She did not want to take things too far, but at that time, she had been too infatuated with Raivo.Unfortunately, it was all too late. She looked at her two legs, now missing their feet. She ignored the three people before her and merely waved her hand indifferently.“Take them away! Remember to keep it down. Noah and Sweeny need to rest.”“Yes, ma’am!”The bodyguards rushed forward and tried to escort Laina and Raivo away.Raivo’s outburst at that point was very unexpected. It was not clear whether he was simply stupid or was jealous, but he lost all rationality. He let out a cold laugh. “Ha! So the famed head of the Miller family is nothing but a fool! What’s so great about that Noah? He’s just a pair of worn-out pre-loved shoes that Laina left behind. Is he really worth being treated as a precious treasure?”A collective gasp rippled through the room. The atmosphere in the hall instantly turned cold.Raivo was oblivious to it all. He snarled and sneered as he hurled insult after insult.“Everyone says you’re a genius with impeccable judgment, but in my eyes, you’re just a dumb woman who’s been duped by a cunning man!”Trisha did not get angry at Raivo’s

“Understood!”The moment the words left her mouth, Laina crumpled to the floor in terror. She instinctively looked up at the woman seated in the seat of honor. Her life was on the line. She was petrified but she managed to ask in a trembling voice, “Aunt Trisha, what did I do wrong? Why do you want to chop off my foot?”Trisha focused a lazy gaze at her, like she was looking at an annoying bug.She rolled up her sleeves and added in a drawling tone, “Add in the other foot too!”Just then, a bodyguard returned from outside with a Tibetan mastiff, which was nearly as tall as a person. At the sight of it, cold sweat broke out on Laina’s forehead.“Aunt Trisha, no!”She scrambled to her feet and stumbled as she tried to rush past and beg Trisha. However, a bodyguard pinned her down firmly.“Aunt Trisha, what on earth have I done to deserve this treatment from you?! I’ve been away serving the Miller family for five whole years! Even if that isn’t enough, I’ve definitely done a lot

She had never shown any interest in any other man. She also served as the head of the Miller family. She glared daggers at Laina.Laina hurriedly pulled Raivo, who looked terrified, to her side. Together, they bowed their heads in apology.“Aunt Trisha, I-I just returned from abroad today.“W-Why are you interfering in my affairs the moment I walk in the door?”Resentment lingered in Laina’s words. She was very afraid and resentful of Trisha. The previous head of the Miller family had nine daughters. They all competed for power. Trisha was one of them. She was an illegitimate child, so she was not even allowed to be seen in public. She gripped Sweeny’s chin, glanced at Raivo in the corner, and kept tightening her grip. “You little beast! Open your eyes and look for yourself! Your real dad is right there!”“He’s not my dad! You’re all bad people!”Sweeny looked up. He opened his bloodied, mangled mouth, and lashed out at her as he tried to bite and scratch.Laina was out of patience. She flung him to the floor and planted her sharp heel firmly on the child’s chest. She sneered and said, “Noah has completely corrupted this child! He doesn’t even recognize his own parents!“Fine! I’ll teach you a good lesson today. Here’s how you apologize to your parents!”With that, she applied more pressure and stomped and ground her foot harder onto Sweeny’s chest.Sweeny’s muffled screams and groans of pain echoed throughou
