The Weight of a Name

Nadia's POV

Sarah stood over me, waiting. Her smile was sweet like honey, but her eyes were cold like ice. "Who is next, Luna?" she asked again.

My hand shook as I held the pencil. I had to write a name. But I could not think of anyone. I did not want anyone else to get hurt because of me.

Finally, I wrote a name on the paper. Beta James.

This was another test. Beta James was Noah's second-in-command. He was very strong. He had many guards around him always. Maybe Sarah's friends could not hurt him. Maybe he would be safe.

Sarah read the name. Her smile grew wider. "Beta James? This is a big name. Thank you, Luna. This helps very much."

She stood up to leave. "I will see you soon. Rest well."

The door closed behind her. The lock turned. I was alone again.

I put my head in my hands. What had I done? First Kael, now James. I was giving names to a dangerous woman. I felt sick inside.

Later that day, I heard shouting in the hallway. Both Alpha voices, both strong, both angry.

  • The Dumb Cursed Heiress and Her Mates: Reborn For Revenge    The Memory Trial

Nadia's POVThe morning sun entered into Hermlock's study, but it felt cold. The truth I had written last night, I am Nadia, hung between us like smoke. I wasn't just Valerie. I was a dead woman walking in another woman's skin, and now Hermlock knew it.He laid the faded Moon Shade tunic on his heavy oak desk. The ancient cloth, with its worn moon and teardrop, looked like a ghost among the scrolls and candles."You say you see things before they happen," Hermlock said, his old fingers tracing the embroidered symbol. His touch was gentle, like he was touching a sacred thing. "But you have only looked forward. Your mother's spirit did not bring you back just to see the future. She needs you to see the past. The real past. The truth you left behind."He placed my hands on the soft, worn fabric. "This is not just cloth," he whispered. "It is a key. Your mother's love is woven into every thread. Her hope. Her last wish for you. Let it unlock what you have buried deep inside."I closed my

  • The Dumb Cursed Heiress and Her Mates: Reborn For Revenge    The Confession

Nadia's POVI waited until the castle was quiet. The kind of quiet that comes in the deepest part of the night, when even the stones seem to sleep. Neal was finally resting, his breath steady but his face still pinched with the day’s shame. I kissed his temple, my heart aching, and slipped from our room. The halls were empty. My bare feet made no sound on the cold floor. I held the leather-wrapped bundle tight against my chest, where the strange, warm weight of my necklace lay against my skin. It felt like a second heartbeat tonight.Old Man Hermlock’s quarters were in the oldest part of the castle, near the archives. A single candle glowed under his door. I knocked softly. The door opened almost at once. Hermlock stood there, wrapped in a faded robe. His old eyes weren’t sleepy. They were sharp, like he’d been waiting. “Luna Valerie,” he said, his voice a dry whisper. “Come in. The night is for truth-tellers.”I stepped inside. The room was full of books and scrolls and the smell of

  • The Dumb Cursed Heiress and Her Mates: Reborn For Revenge    The Breaking

Nadia’s POVThe pack gathered under the full moon. This gathering should have felt like family. Instead, it felt like a funeral.Everyone was there. The whole pack stood in the big clearing behind the castle. The moon was a bright, cold coin in the black sky. It showed every face, every worry. On one side, Noah stood tall. Maya was glued to his side, wearing a new dress the color of moonlight. She looked like a pretty little doll. Her smile was small and sweet, but her eyes were hungry. They swept over the crowd, looking for something. Looking for me.On the other side, I stood with the ones who were still loyal. Old Man Hermlock. The healer. We stood close together. Then Neal walked out.He didn’t stand with us. He walked across the empty space and stopped beside Noah. My heart squeezed tight. He didn’t look at me.Noah raised a hand. The murmuring crowd went silent.“Brothers and sisters,” Noah’s voice was loud, echoing in the night. “We stand at a new beginning. The Moon Goddess ha

  • The Dumb Cursed Heiress and Her Mates: Reborn For Revenge    The Sacrifice

Neal’s POVI couldn’t stand it anymore.Watching Valerie walk through the halls was like watching a ghost. A beautiful, sad ghost that everyone was afraid to touch. Kael’s men were always there, like shadows with cold eyes. They didn’t touch her, they didn’t speak to her. They just watched. It was worse than if they had shouted. Their silence was a wall, and she was trapped inside it.She tried to be brave for me. She would smile her small smile and squeeze my hand. But her eyes… her eyes were miles away. They were in some dark place I couldn’t reach. She jumped at small sounds. She stopped trying to go to the gardens, to the kitchens. She just stayed in our room, or sat by the window, staring out at a world she couldn’t touch. It was killing me.I found Noah in the war room. He was alone, looking at maps. He didn’t look up when I walked in.“We need to talk,” I said, my voice hard.“I’m busy,” he said, still not looking.“I don’t care.” I walked up and slammed my hands on the table,

  • The Dumb Cursed Heiress and Her Mates: Reborn For Revenge    The Cage

Nadia's POVThe walls were closing in. I could feel them.It started the morning after the feast. I went to the healer’s hut, like I always did, to help . But two warriors were standing outside the door. Kael’s men.“Healer is busy,” one said, not looking at my face. His voice was flat. “No visitors today.”I stood there, holding my basket of clean bandages. Agatha was never too busy for me. I tried to step forward, to show him the basket. He moved, blocking the door with his whole body. “I said, she’s busy. Go back to your room.”His eyes were empty. There was no arguing with them.I walked away, my face hot. I could feel his stare on my back. It wasn’t the only one.Everywhere I went, they were there. A young warrior leaning against the wall, watching me cross the courtyard. Two more by the kitchens, stopping their talk to stare as I passed. Their eyes followed me, cold and heavy.I went for a walk in the gardens, to the quiet patch of herbs by the eastern wall. It was my place to

  • The Dumb Cursed Heiress and Her Mates: Reborn For Revenge    The Doubt

Noah's POVThe feast was over, but the feeling in my gut wasn't. It was a cold, hard knot. Valerie's face at the table kept flashing in my mind. The way she’d gone white as a sheet. The way her eyes had looked through all of us, like she was seeing a nightmare right there in the hall.I was in my study, trying to shake it off, when Maya came in. She moved like a soft breeze, closing the door quietly behind her.“Noah?” she said, her voice a gentle whisper. “Are you alright? You seem troubled.”I rubbed my forehead. “It’s nothing. Just tired.”She came closer, her hand resting lightly on my arm. “It’s not nothing. I saw it too. At the feast. It was… strange.”I looked at her. “What was strange?”She bit her lip, like she was unsure about speaking. “It’s just… Valerie’s reaction. When Lucien’s name came up. It was so… strong. So full of fear.” She moved her hand, her fingers tracing a worried pattern on my sleeve. “Most people, they get angry at the mention of an enemy. Or they get dete
