As promised Talia had released some of my magic that night. I was finally able to touch the tree of life and get my affinity with mom. Plants like Larminiel, Mom said. She's going to train me to use it to grow, and mend plants, but also how to use it in combat. Something else to add to my list of things after school. Dad came and talked to me after school. He told me that mom had told him everything. He was so happy for me, he even teared up a bit. The sun was setting before I knew it. The sky was a bright crimson as the sun kissed the horizon. Talia was excited and ready for a run, but I was feeling kind of nervous. I've always heard that the first time hurts like a bitch. 'Only for a moment, Ember. After that you won't feel pain.' Talia tried to soothe my nerves, but it was too daunting a task even for her. I woke up feeling like shit. My body hurt all over, extremely sore from shifting for the first time. I groaned loudly. "Some of us are still trying to sleep." Ash and I were so stuffed from lunch. We were just lazing about in our room for most of the afternoon. When the rankings were posted we went and looked. Of course I was ranked first and Ash second. Toni was ranked 3rd and then Tate was ranked 4th. I didn't look past that. At about 5 I started getting ready for Josh's gig. I tied my hair back in a tight bun. I wore a lace black choker, a white shirt with red splashes of paint and tight black skinny jeans. I wore my black converse with red roses I had painted on them. I wore some eyeliner and thick mascara. I decided to go even bolder and wore a matte burgundy lipstick. Burgundy was always a nice color on dad and I. "Well damn. I don't think I'm dressed right." Ash laughed looking at me. "Yeah, hold on. I'll fix you." I went to his room and looked through his closet. I found a pair of black jeans that weren't too baggy and a zooyork dark blue jacket.
