Chapter 4

Elizabeth and Albert were walking together as they headed to the skyscraper building of Jones Holders.

She couldn't help but roam her eyes around the building. She couldn't help but wonder who could be the person who designed it.

It looked like a palace of princesses and princes from other countries.

They were here in this elegant place because Albert had returned to claim what was rightfully his. His share in the company as the eldest son of Albert Jones Sr.

The man informed Elizabeth that they would go to the Jones Holders to get the position of the president since Charles was the chairman of the company.

Elizabeth just nodded when Albert told her about this. She was expecting that this would be his first step in helping her out. The man said that he would help her to make Charles pay back for abandoning her and her unborn child.

Two hearts burning with anger towards Charles met and they couldn't imagine what they could do to make the man fall down on his feet.

Albert kept on telling her that the child inside her was an heir of Jones Holders and that was something that no one could take away from the child, even his father, Charles. Her child deserved the best.

According to her ex-husband's half-brother, she needed to get her child's rights from the Jones family. Albert said that he even would give that right to her.

Though she was still at loss with everything that was happening and couldn't get what he meant about everything that he said, there's only one thing she knew, Albert would help her get back with Charles that's why she was just going by the flow. On top of that, she also wanted to see her ex-husband that she had loved for so many years.

An unrequited love. She never thought that all her sacrifice would go to nothing.

A love where she only got pain and hatred in return.

As they walked inside the building she could feel the eyes that were on them well, probably because of the man who was standing next to her.

Elizabeth couldn't deny the fact that he was as handsome as his brother, Charles. Though they came from different mothers, the men were equally attractive.

Maybe, if she wasn't in love with Charles, she had already fallen in love with Albert.

None of the Jones Holders' employees knew that she was married to Charles before, so these people looking at them didn't know that they were already divorced.

She couldn't help but feel bitter. For a couple of years being a husband and wife, she never felt that Charles had been into her. He never attempted to introduce her to the public. He never took her to parties. She was left at home just like a decoration.

Elizabeth took a deep breath while they were walking towards the elevator. She felt Albert's hand on her forearms.

"Are you alright?" Albert whispered to her. It seemed that the man noticed that she was feeling tense. She didn't know what she would be doing once she and Charles met. She was afraid that she might get insulted by the man so she calmed herself down.

With the height of almost the same as her ex-husband, around six foot and two inches, she needed to lift her head and pressed her lips to form a thin smile.

She was just a petite woman and then she was also just wearing flat shoes. Since she's pregnant, she didn't want to take the risk of her child's life by wearing heels.

She could afford to not look glamorous for her child's sake. She would like to be safe than sorry later. She would do everything just to ensure the safety of her child.

"Well, I guess I am," she said. Though, she could feel her heart beating so fast not because of the thing that they were about to do but because of the excitement thinking that she would see her ex-husband again.

"You must be thinking about your child," he said while looking into her eyes. "Just stay by my side. Everything would go well. I wouldn't leave you, okay?" Albert added.

They were standing at the front of the elevator when suddenly, they heard people walking towards the entrance of the building like there was someone important that was approaching.

Elizabeth felt her heart pounding so fast inside her ribcage. Even after what he had done to her, she couldn't stop the thrill that flowed down her veins the moment that she saw her ex-husband as he entered the building.

It was her first time to enter this elegant building owned by her ex-husband's family. She never had the chance to get inside for the three years of marriage she had with Charles. The man never let her in in this skyscraper building.

Charles was already walking towards their direction with his employees and bodyguards behind him.

She was shocked to witness how the employees bowed their heads because of his arrival. It was like a scene in a Koreanovela that she had watched.

Their eyes locked up and she gasped. She saw how Charles's forehead creased when he was getting closer to them.

She didn't know if it was because of her as he could wonder what she was doing in his company or it could be that because she was with Albert. She didn't know if he had an idea that she was even with Albert or not.

Charles was finally near them and she could hear heart beating so loud. It was as if there were drums that were rolling at the same time inside her chest.

"Wow, what a great coincidence it is! My dear young brother is also here. So, I think we are just on time," it was Albert's voice which brought her back to her senses. "We aren't late," the man said and winked at her. She didn't know if he was trying to crack a joke or what.

"It's good to see you, big brother," Charles said as he smiled at Albert. "It's been a long time."

But, his facial expression immediately changed when he shifted his gaze towards her. His face turned dark as if he couldn't believe what she was doing in front of her. It was as if Charles was saying that she still had the guts to see feet in his property after what happened to them.

"What are you doing here?" He asked in a voice with no emotion at all which made her shiver. She couldn't explain why all of a sudden, she felt scared after she heard what he said.

But, before she could even answer him, Albert already spoke.

"Oh, she's with me. Do you know her?" Albert asked Charles and then the man didn't wait for him to answer. "Then, I guess, I don't need to introduce you to my secretary." he added while he was looking at both of them.

"Wh--- what do you mean? She's your secretary?" Charles asked, full of disbelief in his voice while he was looking at her even if he was talking to Albert. Disbelief was written all over his face. She didn't know how to react to his reaction.

It was as if impossible for her and Albert to know each other.

"Yes, was she an employee before? Or could it be you had any relationship with Elizabeth?" Albert said, which made her eyes go round. " If that's the case, there's no sense for me to let you know who she is. By the looks of it, you seemed to know each other," Albert added.

Elizabeth didn't know what to say or do that moment. She didn't expect that she would be in that kind of scene. Though he was thankful that Albert was smart enough to handle the conversation, he also somewhat put her on a hot seat and she didn't know how to handle it.

She felt like it was just too much for her. Maybe, because she wasn't used to this kind of conversation.

"Oh, yes, big brother. You don't have to introduce this woman to me. I had known her for three years when I attended a wedding with my mother and I think the last time that I saw her was at my engagement party," Charles answered while still looking at her eyes.

"That's nice to hear then. And, speaking of your engagement party, I am sorry that I didn't make it. I accidentally bumped into someone special in my life that same day. I needed to attend to her," Albert exclaimed.

If Elizabeth didn't know their agreement, whatever the man was saying was music to her ears. She knew that his tone was also pertaining to her which would give Charles something to think about.

She couldn't thank Albert enough for helping her out with her ex-husband. She couldn't think of how he could repay Albert for doing everything for her and even if that means hiding the truth from his brother.

Finally, the elevator came down and they all went inside as soon as it opened in front of them.

No one dared to talk. Silence was deafening. If she wasn't pregnant, she would have use the stairs instead if they had any.

"Big brother, you don't know how much grateful I am that you are now here to help me manage the business that our father left," Charles said which broke the silence that was filling the elevator. "Thank you so much for coming back. I didn't think that this would be soon but I am really grateful that you are always there, big brother."

Albert smiled and she held her breath when she heard what he said to Charles. Elizabeth couldn't imagine that Charles would say those words.

For them being in a three year marriage, it wasn't enough for her to know her ex-husband very well, especially since he never attempted to get closer to her.

"We need to work double time, bro, especially now that there's a heir on the way. I think that little one just deserves the best, " Albert said with excitement in his eyes. Elizabeth couldn't help but be thankful to the man. It seemed that he was serious when he said that he was going to help her get what her child deserves.

Charles' eyes went round because of shock after he heard what Albert said.

"Oh, God! Is that for real? If yes, well, congratulations, bro. I think I have to work on that too," Charles said and then he chuckled.

Charles gave her a quick look and that didn't escape her eyes.

She suddenly felt sad. If the fool only knew that his heir was the one that Albert was talking about. He was blinded by his foolishness that he couldn't even see the changes in her body. How she wished that Charles had listened to her, maybe, they were still married.

It seemed that the man didn't care about her at all. Maybe, he was even thankful that finally she was out of his life.

It's been a while since his father's death and he never came back. He had his own business abroad but because his half-brother was getting engaged to Elaine Imperial, he needed to fly back here.

Then, his path and Elizabeth's path crossed where he learned that the woman was Charles' ex-wife and that she was pregnant with the heir of the Jones Holders.

For some reason, he couldn't accept that the heir would be totally abandoned and would never be known to exist in this world. That's why he wanted to help Elizabeth even if that would mean that he would be the one who would give the name to Elizabeth's child. The baby deserves to have a whole family. The innocent baby deserves to have a complete family to support him as he grows.

He would see to it that he would inherit the wealth that he deserves.
