Chapter 3

Author: Nameless
Vireon Technologies announced a major breakthrough in its 2nm chip technology, and military-backed investors immediately piled in. Its valuation soared tenfold overnight.

Then After Midnight, the Silvergate Studios series no one had expected much from, blew up online. With its polished production and smart, twist-filled mystery, it caught fire overseas and became an international phenomenon.

The biopharmaceutical company that had been on the verge of bankruptcy was acquired outright by Crawford Group for a staggering sum after developing a groundbreaking targeted cancer drug.

Not long after that, Henry called me back into his study.

He pushed several documents across the desk. "These are the returns from your investments. Rhea, tell me how you knew."

I smiled. "Dad, would you believe me if I said I got lucky?"

Henry fell silent.

Men like him didn't believe in luck. They trusted judgment and information. And the less he understood about how I knew what I knew, the more valuable I became to him.

From that day on, Henry started taking me to Delston's most exclusive business receptions and private dinners.

Hannah, meanwhile, took every opportunity to introduce me to eligible young men from the city's wealthiest families. She was clearly trying to find me a suitable match.

In my first life, I'd felt like merchandise on display, standing stiffly while wealthy young men looked me over and picked me apart. I'd been so intimidated that I could barely get a full sentence out.

This time, I was the one doing the judging.

At one event, a man in gold-rimmed glasses asked with an air of self-importance, "Ms. Lennon, what do you think of NFTs?"

I held my wineglass and answered evenly, "Mostly hype and speculation. Once the hype dies, the people who bought in are the ones left holding the bag."

His expression stiffened.

Another rich heir spoke in a smug, overly casual tone, clearly fishing for details about my background. "I heard you only recently reunited with the Sullivans. What were you doing before that?"

I met his eyes. "What I did before doesn't matter. What matters is that I'm a Sullivan now. But Mr. Palmer, judging by your company's numbers this quarter, I'd say you have more pressing things to worry about."

Their stunned, embarrassed expressions bored me.

Then, at a business reception hosted by Crawford Group, I met Joel Crawford.

As the host, he was speaking with several major business figures.

He wore a perfectly tailored suit, his manner cool and reserved. There was an easy authority in the way he carried himself, as if being in control came naturally to him.

Comments flooded my vision.

"That's him! Joel is Olivia's endgame!"

"Rhea never got invited to events like this in her first life, so of course she never met him."

"Wait, wasn't Alex supposed to be Olivia's guy? Why are they saying Joel is her endgame?"

"Oh, right! Alex is only the early love interest. Olivia dumps him later and tries to land Joel instead, but Joel wants nothing to do with her."

I was still reading when a mocking voice came from behind me.

"Well, look who it is. The one the Sullivans just brought back from the countryside. What, you've already figured out how to come to parties like this and land yourself a rich husband?"

I turned around.

It was Hazel Winkler, whose family owned Winkler Group. She'd taken every opportunity to make my life difficult in my first life too.

I had no interest in dealing with her, so I turned to leave.

Hazel blocked my path and raised her voice.

"What, did I hit a nerve? Then again, with your background, what else do you have going for you besides a pretty face and the Sullivan name?"

Her words immediately drew attention. Several people turned to look, including Joel.

I stopped and smiled at her. "You're right, Ms. Winkler. None of us gets to choose where we come from. But being born rich is no excuse for being stupid.

"Instead of worrying about my past, maybe you should worry about Winkler Group. From what I hear, your company is running out of cash."

Hazel went white. "Y-You're making that up!"

"You know whether I'm making it up."

My smile disappeared, and my gaze turned cold.

"If you want to keep what's left of your dignity, walk away."

Just then, Joel walked over, a wineglass in hand.

Hazel looked shaken, but he didn't even glance at her. His eyes went straight to me.

Joel's bodyguards immediately stepped forward to drag Alex away."Wait."I raised a hand, stopping them.Alex stared at me, his eyes filled with jealousy, regret, and utter bewilderment. When he finally spoke, his voice was hoarse, as though it took everything he had to force the words out."Why? Rhea, why has fate been so unfair to me? What did I do wrong?""Here we go again. He's blaming it all on fate." "What did you do wrong? Seriously? You still have to ask?""Rhea, don't bother with him. Just let the bodyguards drag him out!"I looked at him with the same calm indifference I'd give a complete stranger.I gave a quiet laugh. "Fate? That's where you went wrong, Alex. Even now, you still think fate is what decides everything."He stared at me, clearly caught off guard.I took a step closer, making sure he heard every word."You didn't lose because of fate. You lost because you were stupid and shortsighted. You made three mistakes."First, you overestimated what blood m

Joel studied me. There was no doubt in his eyes, only curiosity. After a brief silence, he tapped the table despite the pressure from everyone around him. "We'll go with Ms. Lennon's recommendation."He never asked how I knew. He simply trusted my instincts, then moved quickly and decisively to make my predictions pay off.Three months later, the government announced a major initiative supporting the AI industry. Nexora AI became an investor favorite overnight, and its valuation jumped 50-fold.That one investment put Avelis Capital on the map. After that, I kept pointing out overlooked opportunities that would later become enormously valuable. There was a mobile game that became a cultural phenomenon, a low-budget sci-fi movie that turned into a surprise box-office hit, and even Bitcoin, which I bought while most people still dismissed it as a scam. Before long, I was being called the Market Oracle for my uncanny ability to spot the next big thing. Joel, meanwhile, became known

Furious, Sally tracked Alex and Olivia down to the basement they were living in."Live update! Sally just threw a stack of printed chat logs in Olivia's face!""Olivia went white. Turns out Alex used the exact same routine on Sally. Even that 'you're such an angel' line was copied and pasted!""Alex has nothing to say for himself. Sally is ripping into him for mooching off women. Even the sneakers he wore were bought with money he conned out of women!"The basement erupted into a screaming match.Olivia finally snapped out of the fantasy that everything she'd sacrificed had been for love. She looked at Alex, his face twisted with rage as one scandal after another closed in on him, then at the disgusting messages in front of her. Whatever love or trust she still had in him disappeared in an instant.Sobbing and screaming, Olivia dug out what little savings she had left and threw the money straight in Alex's face. Then she clutched her stomach and ran out of the basement without

Then the scene itself seemed to come to life before my eyes.Olivia sat in a dark, damp basement, clutching her stomach as she cried. "Alex, I'm so hungry. We haven't eaten all day."Alex kicked over a stool beside him and shouted, his face twisted with rage."Is crying all you ever do? We wouldn't be in this mess if you weren't so useless! If you were worth anything, would your own parents have treated you like that at the party? You're worthless!"Every sweet thing he'd once said to her had turned vicious under the pressure of real life.I watched their ugly fight play out through the comments, and my smile slowly widened. But this still wasn't enough. Pushing them this far was only the beginning.Day after day, the comments showed me their endless fights and how far they'd fallen. I felt no satisfaction, only a cold sense of calm.I knew Alex was ambitious to his core. Give him even the slightest chance to recover, and he'd bide his time until he found another chance to stri

"What the hell? This isn't how this is supposed to go! They're just throwing Olivia out? Aren't they supposed to do a DNA test first?""Henry is ruthless! Isn't he supposed to be the ultimate doting dad?""You guys are missing the point. One daughter can marry Joel Crawford and bring the family tens of billions in investment. The other is pregnant, crying, and causing trouble. Which one would you choose? This isn't about family. It's about value."I read the last comment and smiled to myself.Exactly. When one choice offered far more value than the other, blood ties meant nothing. The ballroom doors closed again, shutting out the last of Olivia's screams and curses.A moment later, the music started up again as though the whole ugly scene had been nothing more than a minor interruption. The staff swiftly and quietly cleared away the mess by the doors. The guests seemed to share an unspoken understanding as they picked up their drinks and went back to chatting and laughing. But

Olivia's accusation sent shock waves through the ballroom.Every eye turned to me, filled with shock, suspicion, contempt, and barely disguised excitement.Under all that scrutiny, I remained perfectly calm. I even gave the champagne in my glass a gentle swirl and watched the bubbles rise."Why isn't Rhea freaking out? Shouldn't she be scrambling to defend herself?""She's about to have her reputation completely ruined, and she's still smiling?""Just wait. Once Henry and Hannah realize what's going on, she won't be smiling anymore."The comments kept piling up in front of me, but I already knew they weren't going to get the scene they were waiting for.In my first life, Henry and Hannah had reacted to the same accusation with shock and doubt. The way they looked at me had changed instantly, their trust replaced by suspicion. Not this time.Henry looked furious. He didn't look at me, and he barely spared Olivia a glance.Instead, he turned toward the entrance and barked, "W
