The Return of Luna

POV: Maura

I slowed down the car when I saw the lights at the gate. The lights from the guardhouse cut through the darkness of the road and hit the windshield, forcing me to squint. My hands slipped on the steering wheel, I don't know if it was because of sweat or guilt. My stomach had been hurting for a long time, a pain that didn't come from hunger, it came from fear — the kind of fear that disguises itself as lucidity.

When I stopped in front of the gate, the guard was already waiting for me. His face was more tense than usual, and just by looking at him, I could tell that something was wrong. He approached slowly, his gun hanging at his side, and bowed quickly before speaking.

“Ms. Maura, Alpha is looking for you. Everyone in the pack is.”

My heart leapt in my chest, but my face remained in place. You learn to do that over time—to keep your gaze steady even when everything inside wants to run away. I took a deep breath, smoothed my hair, and the first thing I thought was that I sh

  • The False Luna   Between Bars and Silence

Point of view: AnyaThe cold in the cell seemed to come from the floor. I curled up in the corner, my knees against my chest, my arms wrapped tightly around my legs as if that would be enough to protect me. The stone wall exuded dampness, and the air had the metallic taste of fear. I couldn't sleep. With every noise in the hallway, I held my breath. With every step echoing on the floor, I thought it would be him—Bernardo—coming with Alpha Carlos to drag me out of there and brand me as dishonest.Being a wolf without a pack was a death sentence. I knew it. Away from the protection of the territory, the body weakens, the mind gives way, and instincts turn against you. I would survive days, maybe less. My wolf, then, wouldn't even last that long. She was small, sweet, nothing compared to the dominant beasts of pure bloodlines.“I should have made you wait,” she whispered inside my mind, her voice hoarse with guilt.“No, it's my fault. I knew running away was crazy, but I did it anyway.”

  • The False Luna   Things that break in silence

POV: CamilaTiago left the room without looking back, his small hand being led by an omega who avoided looking at me. The door slammed slowly, but the sound got stuck inside me, reverberating like a drum. I felt the flowers lose their scent, the coffee turn sour in the air, the sheet become rough against my skin. The image of my son repeating the words that did not come from his mouth pierced me like a blade. “I hate you. You ruin everything.”They weren't his, I knew. Still, it hurt as if they were.I looked at the place where he had been a few seconds ago and, for the first time, I understood that love is also choosing not to fight. I could fight for him now, drag him back, force hugs that don't come, promise worlds I don't have. Or I could accept his preference, if he thought Maura was the sun and I was the shadow. Breathing hurt. But the decision came clean, frighteningly simple. If Tiago preferred Maura, I would accept his choice. Not out of weakness. Out of respect for what I wa

  • The False Luna   The Alpha and the Mirror

POV: CarlosI always believed that no one could hide their feelings better than me. An Alpha must control even their own expressions. No mistakes, no hesitation, no sign of weakness. But that morning, I realized that Valentina could irritate me like no one else. The way she looked at me—cold, calculated, with that touch of sarcasm hidden between her words—was a silent provocation. She didn't believe anything I said. And worse, she made a point of making that clear.I spent the previous night planning the charade. Breakfast, flowers, the presence of the omegas, everything meticulously organized to reconstruct the perfect image of a stable family. The idea was simple: show care, reinforce the role of companion and exemplary father. An Alpha who loves, protects, and commands. The kind of image that deceives even the most attentive.I woke up before sunrise and went down to the kitchen. The omegas were already at their posts, waiting for orders. I asked them to prepare a hearty breakfast—

  • The False Luna   The Theater of Perfection

POV: CamilaThe smell of coffee reached me before I remembered where I was. For a few seconds, the sensation was pleasant—warm, comfortable, almost familiar. The kind of smell that makes your body believe the world is safe. I opened my eyes slowly, and the soft glow of sunlight coming through the curtains made me forget I was still in the hospital. But it only took a blink for reality to set in.The room looked like something out of a dream. Flowers everywhere, trays of coffee, juice, fruit, omelets. Three omegas moved silently, carefully preparing everything, as if they were setting up a banquet. And in the middle of it all, Valentina, with her arms crossed and the most sour expression on the planet. The scene was only complete when I saw Carlos sitting in the armchair, leafing through a newspaper as if he were an exemplary man, and Tiago in the corner, playing on his tablet. For a moment, the image seemed perfect: the protective Alpha, the calm son, the resting companion. But I knew

  • The False Luna   Alfa and Anger

POV: CarlosI poured some more whiskey into my glass and drank it without thinking. I wanted it to burn, to take away my urge to break everything. The office was a mess, papers scattered everywhere, the smell of alcohol and anger. That woman still hadn't shown up. No news from Maura. Just excuses, rumors, and a silence that irritated me more than any words. The communicator vibrated on the table. It was Bernardo.“Go ahead.”“The omega has been found, Alpha. Trying to cross the northern border.”“Anya?”“Yes. She's fine. She was detained by the guards.”I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. As if I needed another headache.“And Maura?”“Nothing yet, sir.”“And what did Anya say?”“That she doesn't know anything. She ran away after an argument.”I slammed my glass down on the table.“Argument? In the middle of the Moon Festival week?”Bernardo hesitated.“It was a personal problem.”I rolled my eyes.“Personal problem. I should have chosen a Beta with more control. Keep your wife un
