The Family Secret

It was our wedding night, and all our guests had cleared out. My husband, Keith, and I went through the wedding gifts, and the estimated total amounted to 100,000 dollars. Floored, I couldn’t wipe the grin off my face, but the highlight of the night wasn’t the generous gifts. Despite Keith’s protests, I snatched up the gifts and put them away. Right in front of him, I pulled out a scanty nightgown from the wardrobe and slipped into it. Just as things were heating up, the pressing knock on the door interrupted Keith from pouncing on me. I threw my nightgown back on. I opened the door to find my mother-in-law, Whitney, standing there, pillow in hand. Unsure of her intentions, I was a bit on edge. Whitney was Keith's stepmother. She was not the stereotypical older lady. Thanks to her skincare regime, she looked young and alluring for her age. Her equally skimpy, if not worse, lingerie did little to hide her gorgeous shape, especially since she opted not to wear a bra. The w

“I’m sorry. It slipped my mind,” I apologized to the technician and opened the door for him. “No worries. Just make sure someone is home next time you schedule an appointment.”I didn’t think that anyone would be home. Whitney must have gone out. I had completely forgotten about the appointment until the technician called. Although my suspicions had been cleared, it was not a bad idea to install surveillance. Since Whitney and Keith weren’t home, I didn’t see the point of telling them about the camera. The technician did a great job installing the camera in a discreet spot. The camera was subtly positioned, making it difficult to detect. Once I made sure everything was up and running, I returned to my office. Of course, I tested the camera, and the footage on my phone was crystal clear. I expected Whitney and Keith to be home later than me, but I walked into them at the dinner table. Before I could approach them, Keith said, “You should take a shower and change into a fres

I’d been married for a whole year, and I never truly knew the kind of man Keith was. To think I had been sharing a bed with a liar who cheated on me with his stepmother and even fathered a child with her. I couldn’t even imagine how I had gotten through the year. Keith always portrayed himself as a caring and supportive provider, and I had been foolish enough not to see through his lies for a year. Holding back my rage, I lay in bed and remained patient for the test results to arrive in three days. Three days later, I received the expected results on my phone, confirming my worst fears. My heart ached more as my child was still somewhere out there while the product of Keith and Whitney’s taboo affair was in good hands. It was so unfair. “Hello, Susie? Get me the best divorce attorney. I’ll tell you the rest in person.” “Sure.” Susie teared up the moment we met. I patted the back of her hand before leading her to a private room to talk. “You look out of it lately, Na

“How was it, Naomi? Did everything go down okay?” I threw my arms around Susie and sobbed, releasing my emotions through my tears. “It’s alright. It’s alright, Naomi.” After a good cry, I sat down with Susie and talked about taking Whitney to court. “I’ve got an audio recording of her confession. I made sure I wasn’t alone, so my friends can testify too.” “Okay. Easy there, Naomi. We will be ready for her.” “We must make her pay, Susie!” “Definitely. I’ll get in touch with the lawyer now. Just leave everything to me.” I cried myself to sleep. By the time I woke up, the news about the incestuous affair went viral, and the public dug deep into Keith and Whitney’s personal details and history. Justice did take my pain away just by a touch. My child didn’t deserve to be left in the forest. She was too young to leave the world. It was only fair that Whitney was punished. Whitney was heartless to have thrown a life away. Susie and I served Whitney court papers and wa
