Plot Twists

My best friend, Eleanor Fitzroy, and I both transmigrated into an era of turmoil, where we happen to become students of a legendary seer. I am born with an uncanny gift for divination. With nothing more than three coins, I can read the signs of fate and predict what is yet to come. Eleanor, meanwhile, possesses an extraordinary mind for strategy. She can decipher the most complex military tactics and, with a single formation of her own design, turn the tide against thousands of soldiers. After leaving Ravenvale, our mentor's secluded valley, we join forces to support the disgraced Seventh Prince, Alexander Wyndham, and help him rise to the throne. Alexander soon falls deeply in love with Eleanor. He marries her in a lavish royal wedding, making her the queen of the realm. 15 years into their marriage, they are still as devoted to each other as ever. They have eight sons together. Then, last night, the palace receives joyous news—the empire of Arden has welcomed its first princess since its founding. Overjoyed, Alexander rides through the night with his eight sons and arrives at the gates of Ravenvale, begging me to come out of seclusion and divine Matilda Wyndham's fate. Of course, I agree. I hurry to the royal palace that very night. I place a dab of vermilion on Matilda's forehead and bestow a blessing of peace and safety upon her. With my task complete, I prepare to leave. But on a whim, I toss my coins one more time, intending to divine Eleanor's fate and see what the rest of her life holds in store. The moment the coins hit the ground, however, the signs turn ominous. The reading reveals chaos, death, and a fate that has been sealed long ago. My blood runs cold. If Eleanor has already been dead for some time, then who is the woman lying on the queen's bed, smiling at me so warmly?

Chapter 1
Noticing the change in my expression, Eleanor Fitzroy struggled to sit up. "Rosa, what's wrong?" she asked. "Is there anything wrong with Matilda's fate?"The tone of her voice—even the slight furrow of her brows—was exactly the same as Eleanor's.I said nothing. I simply gathered the three coins from the floor and held them in my palm. When I remained silent for too long, Alexander Wyndham strode toward me. The ruler who was normally so decisive and ruthless now had panic written all over his face. "Rosa, what did you see? Just tell me," he urged. "Whatever it is, I'll deal with it."All eight princes dropped to their knees before me, looking up at me anxiously. Prince Charles Wyndham, the eldest, was practically frantic."Rosa, if my sister is in danger, I'll give my life to protect her!"My gaze swept across the room. Years ago, at the height of the war for the throne, Alexander had been trapped by enemy forces in a mountain pass and afflicted with a deadly curse. I

Chapter 2
Agatha was so furious that she let out a sharp, incredulous laugh. "Rosamund, have you had enough?" she hissed, her fingers flying over the rosary beads in her hand. "This is the royal palace. How dare you make such outrageous claims here? Guards, escort Lady York out of the palace!"The royal guards stationed outside exchanged uneasy glances, but none of them dared to move. Alexander stepped forward, placing himself between me and the guards. "I believe in Rosamund!"The moment he made his position clear, all eight princes drew the swords at their sides and formed a protective circle around me. Charles stepped forward. "Grandmother, if Rosa says something has happened to Mother, then something must've happened to her," he said coldly. "Anyone who dares stop her from searching for Mother will answer to my sword!"Agatha was so enraged she nearly fainted. She pointed at her grandsons, but for several moments, she couldn't utter a single word. The queen leaned against the

Chapter 3
The moment the queen saw the dress, tears streamed down her face. "Alexander, do you remember this dress?" she sobbed, dropping to her knees before him. "When you were poisoned all those years ago, I knelt beside this lake for three days and three nights."I sank this dress to the bottom of the lake and prayed to the spirit of the royal waters, begging it to keep you safe. I was willing to trade ten years of my own life for yours."Alexander went rigid. The suspicion in his eyes faded, replaced by overwhelming guilt. He bent down and helped the queen back to her feet. "Eleanor, you've suffered enough."Agatha immediately seized the opportunity. "Rosamund, do you have anything left to say?" she demanded. "You abused Alexander's trust and turned the entire palace upside down. You deserve to die for this!"Although the eight princes still stood protectively around me, confusion had begun to creep into their eyes. The dress really did belong to Eleanor. There was even a faint

Agatha immediately burst into laughter. "Rosamund, you think you can accuse the queen of murder with nothing but an attendant's skeleton? You deserved to be hanged for this!"The queen walked up to me and took my cold hand in hers. "Rosa, I know you've spent all these years living in seclusion at Ravenvale," she said. "You must've been terribly lonely. You've let your own demons get the better of you."I don't blame you at all."I stared at her flawless face, my stomach churning with disgust. Charles had studied divination under me since childhood, and he was particularly sensitive to the signs. He picked up the three coins stained with my blood and crouched down to cast the reading again. At first, his brows were tightly furrowed. Moments later, he suddenly looked up, his face lighting up with excitement. "It changed! The reading changed!"Grabbing Alexander by the arm, he exclaimed, "Father, look! The signs have shifted. The elements have fallen back into harmony. This is

Chapter 5
The queen's face turned ashen, and her entire body began to tremble. "Charles, have you all lost your minds?" she cried. "I'm your mother!"Her voice was shrill, every word filled with disbelief and wounded indignation."Rosa has lost her mind, and now you're all following her down the same path? Put those swords away before you hurt yourselves!"Had she put on this loving-mother act an hour ago, she might've fooled everyone. But now, Charles' eyes were bloodshot. His knuckles had gone white around the hilt of his sword, the veins on the back of his hand standing out as he clenched his jaw. "Shut up!" he roared, his voice trembling with rage. "Whenever Mother and Rosa talked about their mentor, they would laugh so hard until they could barely stand."Because the great mentor of Ravenvale, the one revered by everyone in this kingdom, isn't even human!"The third prince, Elliot Wyndham, immediately followed."Their mentor is a fat, greedy orange tabby who was always hungry,"

Rage consumed me in an instant. The ancient power within me trembled violently, and faint flashes of lightning flickered through my golden eyes."You've got a death wish!"I was just about to form a spell when Isolde, utterly unafraid, took a step back and slipped behind two of the cursed soldiers. "Don't be so hasty," she chided. "The story isn't over yet."She seemed to take great pleasure in savoring the fury on our faces."Rosamund, you can divine every blessing and disaster in this world, yet you never learned how to read people."After Eleanor gave birth to her eighth son, she suffered a severe hemorrhage and became so weak that she couldn't even get out of bed."She glanced at Agatha, a faint smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "It was the Queen Mother herself who brought her a bowl of sleeping draught laced with poison."Charles and the other princes stared at Agatha in disbelief. "Grandmother, you…" Charles' voice trembled. With all eight of her grandsons s

Chapter 7
A foul stench of blood washed over me. The scaled creature moved with terrifying speed, its razor-sharp claws lunging straight for Elliot's throat. "Elliot!"Charles' eyes nearly bulged with horror. At the critical moment, I forced myself to endure the pain of my throbbing chest wound and pinched one of the coins between my fingers, hurling it forward. With a loud clang, the coin struck the creature's claw with perfect precision, sending a burst of blinding sparks. The force of the impact sent the creature sprawling across the floor, where it let out an enraged roar."Form the ward! Hold the line!" I shouted at the princes. Elliot seized the opening and scrambled back into formation. Forcing down their overwhelming grief, the eight princes quickly shifted into position. Their swords crossed and locked together as they pushed the defensive formation to its limits. The battle strategy Eleanor had devised for them back at Ravenvale had now become their last hope of surviv

Chapter 8
A deafening crack of thunder tore through the palace as a bolt of violet lightning came crashing down. Agatha didn't even have time to scream before the searing heat engulfed her. The stench of burning flesh filled the air. And just like that, the old woman who had spent her entire life scheming and manipulating others was reduced to a charred corpse. Her blackened body crumpled to the floor, breaking apart into a heap of ash. After a lifetime of plotting, Agatha had ultimately become nothing more than a human shield. Justice had finally caught up with her. Although Isolde had used Agatha to take the brunt of the attack, the force of the lightning still sent her flying. She slammed hard into one of the palace pillars and spat out a mouthful of black blood. "Rosamund!" she hissed, her hair hanging wildly around her face as her eyes burned with hatred. "You destroyed everything I've worked for. "I'll make sure you all die with me!"Without hesitation, she bit down on h

Chapter 9
Ignoring Isolde's stunned expression, Eleanor turned toward her eight sons, who were still struggling to hold the formation together. Pride filled her eyes when she saw them still standing in front of her with swords drawn, protecting her despite the tears rolling down their cheeks. "Charles." Her voice was soft, yet somehow carried clearly through the entire chamber."I'm here, Mother!" Charles choked out, wiping the tears from his face. "Change formation with your brothers."Eleanor slowly raised her hand, tracing a path through the air with her fingertips. "Reverse the formation," she said. "Lock down all eight positions—Rest, Life, Wound, Bind, Sight, Death, Fear, and Release."Turn Death into Life. Trap it!"The moment the princes heard Eleanor's command, they seemed to find a strength they hadn't known they possessed. They stopped merely defending themselves. Instead, they scattered in perfect coordination, moving with practiced precision as they surrounded the mass

Chapter 10
A gentle smile appeared on Eleanor's face as she shook her head. "Rosa, don't cry."She reached out to wipe away my tears, but her fingers could only trace the outline of my face midair. "My body was destroyed long ago, and my soul was sealed away. I should've faded away a long time ago."Using the last of my strength to cling to those coins just now took everything I had left."I've already seen all of you one last time. That's enough for me."Her voice grew softer with every word, fading like a distant whisper. Alexander dropped to his knees, his hands clawing into the dirt until his fingernails split and blood ran down his fingers. "Eleanor… Take me with you…"The ruthless king who had never begged anyone for anything was pleading now, desperation written across his face. "Without you, why does this kingdom matter? What does this crown mean?"Eleanor stepped toward him, her eyes filled with tenderness. "Alex, don't say things like that. You're the king. Your people s
