Don't Open the Door on Doomsday Night

On the day the zombie outbreak occurs, I tell my boyfriend, Valerio Petrucci, to come over and hide in my apartment, where my front door is already reinforced.Soon, sounds of the door being knocked can be heard. I'm about to get up when transparent comment bubbles appear in front of my eyes."Don't open the door! Valerio isn't the only one out there—there are a bunch of loan sharks with him as well!""One of them is already infected with the zombie virus and is about to turn into a zombie!""You'll die if you let them in!"Someone knocks on the door once again at that moment....I was just about to turn the doorknob when my hand suddenly froze mid-air.The live comments wouldn't stop popping up before my eyes."The bastards are going to barge in as soon as you open the door for them! You'll never get rid of them once they're inside!""They will insist on playing loud music and games during the height of the zombie outbreak! And they won't stop even when you tell them to!""They're a

The urgent knocking sounded on the door again. Then, I heard voices on the other side of the heavy security door. It was a little distorted, but I could still hear Valerio's familiar voice.I curled up on the couch. My dog, Lasagna, who was in my arms, wanted to bark, but I hurriedly held her mouth shut.I then sent Valerio a text message."I'm not home."The knocking stopped. Another text message immediately appeared in my inbox, and he sounded urgent."How could you not be at home? Didn't you say that you were going to open the door for me?"A few seconds later, he seemed to have noticed that his tone had been a little too rough, so he followed it up with another text message."Did you go out gathering supplies again, babe? It's okay. I'll wait for you at the door."Before the zombie outbreak heightened, I had told him that I would be going out to stockpile as many supplies as I possibly could, so there wasn't much to be suspicious about my statement earlier. Then, I heard

A group of people then entered the hallway. The man leading the group was wearing a black trench coat with a pistol in his hand.He exuded a calm, commanding presence as he coldly observed the group wreaking chaos at my door.My tears instantly welled up as soon as I heard the familiar voice. The voice belonged to Russo Barletta, my foster papa. Years ago, when I was abandoned at the orphanage, he was the one who brought me home with him. However, since he was the Don of a powerful mafia, he was unable to raise me and care for me personally. So, I grew up with my grandparents instead. At this moment, Papa's voice carried a suffocating chill as he said, "Who gave you the audacity to try and break down my daughter's door?"The hallway fell silent immediately. The few people who had been threatening to break my door down earlier all froze in their spots at once. Meanwhile, Quinto got such a shock that he immediately dropped the crowbar to the ground.Valerio was also obviously sh

Papa looked ahead, his eyes deep."I was on my way to you the moment the zombie outbreak began."Just then, the live comments popped up before my eyes."Gemma's papa is such a great person!""Did you know? In the original story, your papa only saw your corpse by the time he finally arrived at your place.""He was so heartbroken when he saw you!"I felt my heart clench.I looked at the man next to me, whose sideburns had already begun graying, realizing that he was no longer in his prime, and yet, he still shielded me behind him in the face of danger without any hesitation. This time, I wasn't going to let that happen."Thank you, Papa," I said, calling out softly to him."Hmm?"Papa seemed confused at first. Then, he smiled brightly at me.Just then, one of his Soldatos reported from the car behind us through the walkie-talkie."Don, the guy in the back isn't behaving himself and is trying to jump out after picking the lock."It was about Valerio. How could he still think

I slowly walked down the steps to the barbed wire fence.Valerio thought that I was moved by his actions and immediately scrambled over, even reaching in through the wire fence, trying to grab at my pant leg.I chuckled coldly and took a step back to avoid his filthy hand."If I recall correctly, you actually failed math three times."Valerio's expression froze.I then crouched over and looked at him through the fence."You're drowning in high-interest debt, and you can't even calculate how much interest you owe them. And yet, you somehow think that you're qualified enough to manage my Famiglia's accounts?"Valerio opened and closed his mouth, his face pale. "I can learn…"I interrupted him just then and said, "But this place doesn't tolerate useless people."With that, I stood up and pulled a piece of meat jerky from my pocket.Valerio's eyes widened and lit up at once. It was a delicacy that even he couldn't dare to dream of."Please, give it to me!"I threw the meat jerk
