Marcus’ POV

My eyes flew open, and I blinked until the room slowly came into focus. There was someone sitting in a chair. As soon as he noticed I was awake, he stood up.

“Thank God you are finally awake!” Henry said.

The memories came back like a knife to the chest. Someone had stabbed both Natalia and me. I tried to sit up, but pain shot through my stomach, forcing me to wince.

“What are you doing, Marcus? Be careful! Your wound is still fresh,” Henry scolded, quickly helping me lean back against the headboard.

“Where is Natalia? Is she alright?” I asked, my voice trembling. The image of Selya stabbing her in the heart replayed in my mind, making me feel sick.

Henry froze for a moment, as if weighing his words. “You need to rest first, Marcus. We will talk about it later.”

“No! Tell me what happened to my wife. Please, Henry.” My hand gripped his arm tightly, desperation flooding through me.

Tears gathered in my eyes. I could not lose Natalia, not now, not after we had finally fixed

I put my arm around her shoulders. “That was before, honey. Not anymore. From now on, you will live like a queen with me. I would reach for the stars and give them to you. I would swim across the ocean just to be with you.”Natalia made a face. “Those lines are so corny. That will not work on me. Tonight, you will be sleeping outside the blanket,” she teased. My eyes widened. “No way, honey. Please do not do that. I will not be able to sleep.”I caught a faint smile on her lips, but she said nothing more and simply kept walking. I scratched my head and glanced at Toper, who had been watching me. I gave him a smile, and he smiled back. When we arrived home, Natalia and the kids went straight to our bedroom, while I headed to my small office. I had it built so that I could work from home whenever I did not feel like going to the company. I opened my laptop to check if my male secretary had sent me anything important.Sure enough, my inbox was full of emails from our clients. Even though

Marcus’ POVI have finally moved on from the bad dream I had. Still, because of it, I became even more protective of my wife. Sometimes Natalia gets annoyed at me, saying I am overreacting. I watch her so closely that even inside the house, I keep an eye on her every move.I leaned down and kissed my wife, who was sleeping peacefully beside me. We had just finished making love. I always try to be gentle with her, because I love her more than anything. I will always take care of her. Closing my eyes, I let myself drift off to sleep.I woke up early, just as I had planned. I wanted to prepare breakfast for my family, so I got up, took a shower, and headed to the kitchen. While cooking, I hummed to myself. People say that when you cook with a happy heart, the food tastes even better. Judging by the smell, this meal was going to be delicious.Soon, I heard the footsteps of my children. They appeared with Natalia, who looked radiant this morning. I could not help but think maybe it was bec

Marcus’ POVIt was the day of Natalia’s burial. I could not eat or even drink water. My body did not feel hunger or thirst, only the crushing pain in my chest from losing her. It felt like my heart had been shattered into pieces, and I did not know if it could ever be whole again.Tears slid down my face as I stared at Natalia’s coffin being lowered into the ground. I held a white rose in my hand but could not find the strength to throw it onto her casket. My lips would not open. Earlier, only Juliana and Cassandra spoke during the mass. I could not. I was somewhere far away in my head, too lost in grief. I knew that if I tried to speak, I would break down completely. The weight of knowing I would never see her again was unbearable.“Marcus.” Henry’s voice pulled me back. I had not noticed that the grave had already been filled with soil. I was still clutching the white rose.I could not let her go. I wanted her with me forever. The thought of releasing her felt impossible. My knees g

  • The Forbidden Affair: The Man I Should Never Have Known   Their children would grow up without parents

Marcus’ POVWhen I arrived home, the house was quiet. My wife and kids were not there. I had planned to go with them to the market earlier, but an emergency meeting came up at the office. I really did not want to go, but I had to because the client I was meeting was very important.I turned when I heard the sound of the front gate. Natalia was walking in, holding shopping bags, with our children following behind her. I went to meet them.“Hello, honey,” I greeted, taking the bags from her hands. I bent down to kiss her lips, holding it for a moment longer than usual. She laughed and gave me a playful tap on the arm, her cheeks turning pink.Even after all these years, Natalia still gets shy when I kiss her in front of people. I do not mind at all. I want everyone to see how much I love my wife.“Marcus, the children are here! Save that for later,” she said, pouting slightly. I smiled and kissed the top of her head.“I just could not help it, hon. I missed you. I have been waiting here

  • The Forbidden Affair: The Man I Should Never Have Known   Will you marry me?

Marcus’ POV“Is everything ready? Make sure it turns out perfect. If it does not, you will answer to me,” I warned Aaron.“It is all set! You are so impatient,” he replied with a smirk. “You have not even asked her yet, but here you are, planning all this. What if she says no? You might end up heartbroken.” Aaron chuckled at his own joke.I shot him a glare. He knew how much I wanted Natalia’s upcoming birthday to be special. I was not just planning a celebration, I was going to propose. Whatever happened, I would leave it in fate’s hands.Aaron tapped my shoulder when he noticed I was lost in thought. I smiled, feeling a rush of excitement for the week ahead.“So you are really going through with it?” Henry asked, his tone cautious. “Do not expect too much, Marcus. She might not say yes.”“Yes. Whatever her answer is, I will accept it with all my heart,” I told him. “Maybe it will be my way of making up for the mistakes I have made in the past. I will not blame her if she says no. I
