The air in the penthouse was no longer just heavy; it was combustible.

My blood was actually boiling, beneath my skin. My first heat had snared me out of the blue, tearing through my blood like a raging, boiling torrent of liquid fire. It burned away all the sane, reasonable thoughts I had left and replaced them with a primitive, spewing terror. I held to the dark silk sheets of Kaelen‘s king-sized bed, my fistgrip turning white, when a hideous gasp escaped me.

The air was filled with the smell

The horizon bled a bruised, violent purple as we tore through the ancient northern woods.Time was evaporating. Each of my blistering paws pounding the earth in the woods gave me a second until the sun rose. I was the fastest one of them—because I was a pureblood Lycan, and I was panicking as much as I was afraid.“Faster!” my inner wolf roared, her voice reverberating through the silver knots in our blood bond.Three deadly Alpha wolves stood on either side of me - Kaelen was midnight black, Caleb was rugged and dark brown, and Jace was sleek and stormy grey. Vane and his four bipedal, towering Lycan warriors were right behind them, thunderous footsteps shaking the ground beneath us.With nine against 300. For any rational wolf, a suicide mission. But when the tall black marble spires of the Obsidian Claw packhouse finally broke out of the trees, I didn't have any sense of reason left."Form the wedge!" A gravelly voice bellowed from a distance, out of earshot, as if in dreams. There

"Hail the lost Princess. Your father's army has come to take you home."A gravelly, grinding, voice of the big Lycan Commander filled the weeping willows. He continued to stand on one knee, his head down in total respect and awe of the white coat, glimmering with an aura of magic, that my newly awakened Lycan-Luna form wore. The four bipedal beasts behind him, knelt in the wet moss and took on the same looks. The first time in my 19 years that I was NOT small. I didn't feel like prey.I was on four giant paws with muscles coiled with ancient, terrible strength, staring down at the exiled warriors. The new form had an overpowering effect on my senses. I could see the old blood and rusted iron on their dark coarse fur. I could hear their big, beating hearts beating slowly and rhythmically. However as the Lycan commander slowly lifted his head, his green glowing eyes looked down and away from me. I was shielded from his eyes' focus by my silver glowing eyes and he fixed his gaze on the t

The moss beneath me was damp and freezing, but my skin was a blazing inferno. My back arched off the forest floor as a ragged gasp tore from my throat. The pain of the heat was no longer just an ache; it was a physical tearing inside my chest, an ancient, biological demand that was threatening to rip my sanity apart. The sweet, overwhelming scent of moonflowers and wild honey flooded the secluded clearing, completely drowning out the damp earth and pine.Kaelen used his enormous hands to hold my exposed thighs while his long fingers pressed down on my burning flesh. His blue eyes appeared completely blocked by his eyes which were feral and starving. Caleb and Jace remained motionless above him because they were breathing heavily while their fangs had fully extended. The animals existed at their highest point of danger while my Luna aura kept them under control. The group desired my presence. They wanted me all the way. The group waited until their Queen would give them permission to p

The heavy silver battleaxe cleaved through the air with a terrifying, metallic hum, aiming directly for my neck.King Thorne had stopped his attempt to take me captive. He stopped trying to restrict my abilities. In his paranoid, tyrannical madness he discovered that a Luna bound to his three heirs would become an unbeatable weapon against his entire reign. He wanted me dead.Kaelen intercepted the blade before it could reach my skin.My eldest stepbrother fought without weapons. He relied on his physical strength. He lunged forward, catching the thick wooden handle of the axe mid-swing. The impact force of the impact destroyed the marble floor under Kaelen's boots but he remained standing. His icy blue eyes blazed with feral gold while his fangs descended completely as he resisted his father who wanted to kill him."Get her out of here!" Kaelen bellowed as he struggled with the Alpha King for control of the weapon.Thorne shouted, "No one leaves this room alive!" as he ripped his han

CRACK.The hidden chamber resounded with deafening noise when Silas used his massive silver battleaxe to destroy the mahogany wood door. The wood splinters fell from above me and one sharp fragment struck my cheek to leave a thin cut.The blade stopped just short of reaching my face. The Lycan executioner made his first attempt to pull back his axe when the entire penthouse broke out into brutal combat.Kaelen made his decision to attack without any pause after he considered the possible results of attacking the King’s highest enforcer. The eldest heir performed a jump across the floor which contained broken glass. He struck Silas with the force of a freight train that carried pure muscle and black ice.The force of impact sent the seven-foot Lycan to crash backward into the weighty leather armchair while his battleaxe slipped from his hand and crashed onto the wooden floor."TREASON!" Alpha King Thorne shouted as his face transformed into a deadly, murderous expression of disbelief.

BZZZT. BZZZT.“Open this door or I‘m punching a hole in the wall!” Alpha King Thorne roared, hammering the reinforced windows of the penthouse. The intoxicating, commanding high of my Luna dominance was instantly shattered by the brutal reality of our situation. My silver eyes flickered, the brilliant light dimming back to human brown as the sheer terror of Thorne’s arrival spiked my adrenaline. I was a Luna, yes, but I was still unshifted, physically untrained, and currently burning alive from a premature heat. If Thorne walked in right now and found his three Alpha heirs kneeling in submission to the human stepdaughter, he wouldn‘t just execute me. He would slaughter us all.“Breathe in,” I whimpered as the new influx of biological flame shot down my lower body again. I grabbed hold of the side of the mattress and kept myself from falling.Three of our brothers snapped out of our submissive haze. Though the magical chains of the blood pact sank under our skin, the devotion hadn‘t. N
