(Mason’s POV)

I sat quietly in the meeting room at Smithfield headquarters. James had called an hour ago, asking me to bring the plan for the new project. He said it was urgent... the president wanted to review it this morning. So, I came as fast as I could, even though my mind wasn’t in the best place.

I had seen Patricia today, at Liam’s school. It was his first day, and I went to drop him off. Then I saw her in the lobby. For a moment, I thought my eyes were deceiving me. But they weren’t. It was her, Patricia. Except she looked... different. Stronger. More confident.

The door opened, pulling me out of my thoughts. I straightened up as James walked in, wearing his usual confident smile.

“I’m sorry,” he said, handing me the file, “but you might need to revise this again. The president expects exceptional results from this project. The plan has to be perfect.”

I sighed and rubbed my temples. This was the third rejection. Each time, they said the same thing.. “revise it.” No deta

(Patricia’s POV)“Come on, let’s sit over there,” Henry said softly. He pushed his grandmother’s wheelchair as we moved toward the round table. The moment I realised it was his family’s table, I turned to look at him. Was it really okay for me to sit at the same table with his family?“Don’t worry, Pat. You can sit here with us,” he said gently, as if he already knew the question running through my mind.I smiled and sat down.Just then, Henry’s phone started ringing on the table. The name Alonso flashed across the screen. My heart skipped. It might not be the Alonso I knew, but every time I saw that name, it stirred something uncomfortable inside me.James had said he was in town. And he was most likely the one who dropped those pictures at the cemetery that day. After I told James I saw someone who looked like Alonso, he went to the airport to check the CCTV footage from that day and time. He later confirmed it was truly him. But, I couldn’t understand why Alonso was playing hide-an

(Patricia’s POV)Days had passed, but I didn’t feel any better. I still hadn’t recovered from the pain of the betrayal. Thinking back to how I had gone from one hospital to another, meeting different doctors, wondering why every test result said I was fine, yet I couldn’t conceive. All this time, I didn’t know I had married a monster... someone who put me through years of stress just to protect his ego. What about my dignity? I bore the shame of being called barren by his family and by others, countless times. The betrayal cut deep, but I still tried to move on, just as I had always done. I was grateful for Raymond, who stayed by my side through this difficult period. As expected, Mason was charged with murder, and this could be the end of him if he was found guilty. The reporters, however, wouldn’t leave me alone. They kept asking for my thoughts on the case.I wasn’t even there on the day the incident happened, yet my name was trending alongside his family’s. Because everyone knew I

(Patricia’s POV)“Do you like it?” I asked, curious, my heart pounding with nervous excitement.“I love it,” Raymond said, his eyes shining as he looked at the wristwatch I had just given him. “This is exactly my style.”I smiled warmly, relieved that he loved it. Raymond was finally home. He had arrived two hours ago, and I couldn’t be happier. It wasn’t just me... Julie was overjoyed as well.We had dinner together, just like a happy family, and afterward we went upstairs. Now we were in his bedroom, technically our bedroom now, since I couldn’t even remember the last time I slept in mine.“Thank you for this special gift,” Raymond said softly.“You’re welcome,” I whispered. He carefully placed the watch back into its box and set it on the vanity. Then he stepped closer and wrapped his arms around my waist.“I’m so happy to be home. I missed you so much,” he said quietly.I chuckled and rested my arms on his shoulders. “I missed you too, honey.”Missing him was an understatement. Th

(Mason’s POV)"If you truly believed your weak and useless sperm could father a child, then you must be delusional.” she added. My stomach dropped when I heard that. How… how did she know? No one else knew about this. I had kept the truth hidden from Patricia... and even from my own family for years.“Don’t say stupid things,” I said through clenched teeth, trying to deny it completely.“Stupid things?” she scoffed. “You may have hidden the original result from Patricia, but you didn’t hide it from me, Mason.”“I saw everything,” she added.I swallowed hard, my chest tightening. I remembered that day clearly. The doctor had told me my sperm was weak, but it could improve. With proper treatment and diet, I could still father a child.I was too embarrassed to let anyone know, not even Patricia. So I threw away the real result and replaced it with a fake one. That fake result was what I showed Patricia. But Rose had seen the original result. She was our housemaid at the time. Could it be

(Mason’s POV)My phone kept ringing, and I had no choice but to switch it off. Nothing made sense anymore. My life had been a complete mess ever since Patricia left me.It had been one problem after another. We lost the company and all our family investments. I even lost Patricia’s trust. Was this what people called karma? If so, then it came too early.“Thank you for coming back to me, my love,” I heard someone say behind me. “I thought you had fallen in love with that man.”“I told you, baby, you’re the only one I’ve ever loved,” a familiar female voice replied. “I was only with him because of money.”I blinked in surprise. That voice sounded exactly like Rose’s. But it couldn’t be her. She had moved into the apartment I got for her and Liam, and that place was over an hour away. There was no way she could be here this late at night.“Now I can finally be with my son,” the man said, his voice filled with excitement.“And honestly, our son deserves to be with his real father,” the wo

(Mason’s POV)“Sir, are you sure you want some more?” the bar attendant asked, her voice unsure.“Put it there and stop asking stupid questions!” I snapped, my voice exploding like a gunshot.I had been drinking at the bar for hours. I couldn’t even tell how many shots I had taken, but none of them dulled what I was feeling inside. I came here hoping the alcohol would make me feel better... but it didn’t.Earlier today, right after I left Patricia’s office, I went home to rest. After a while, my family arrived, smiling and full of excitement, expecting good news. But everything changed the moment I handed Dad our copy of the document.“What the hell is this, Mason? This isn’t the right document!” I could still hear my father’s voice crashing down on me.“What do you mean it’s not the document?” I asked, confused.“My God… someone please wake me up from this nightmare,” my father said, his voice breaking. “Please tell me this isn’t happening.”His hands shook as the papers slipped from
