Marceline’s POV

I headed straight to the counter to pay for the things I had picked. I didn’t have time to waste on Anastasia and her mother. Their words were nothing but noise to me...empty noise that wasn’t worth my breath.

“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Anastasia’s mother snapped sharply, suddenly blocking my way.

I took a step back, frowning as her strong perfume filled my nose. It was almost choking.

“Of course she won’t talk,” Anastasia said with a scornful smile as she gently moved her mother aside, pretending to act calm. “This isn’t Stanmore Global, where she gets to throw her power around.”

I didn’t reply, but a small smile crossed my mind. At least she still remembered that I hated being blocked. I might have ignored her when she snatched the clothes earlier, but blocking my path was something I wouldn’t tolerate.

“Philip doesn’t come home to you, does he?” Anastasia asked with a sneer, her tone sharp and full of bitterness. “He loves me, Marceline. So wake up and divorc

Marceline’s POV“Hurry mummy, we are late,” I heard Roman’s voice from downstairs as I got out of my room. I chuckled at his excitement. We were going to Stanmore family house. Today was grandfather's birthday, and I could understand his happiness and impatience. I walked down to see him standing beside Philip. We will be going together like a happy family, Otherwise everyone might notice that things aren't well between us.“You look beautiful mummy,” Roman complimented me with a huge smile as he left Philip’s hand to meet me.“You look handsome too, my baby,” I said lovingly to him, rubbing his cheek and taking his hand so we could leave.I lifted my eyes to see Philip looking at me, stunned, like I looked different today. Well, yesterday he handed me the black card and apologized.“Let’s go,” I said and started walking out with Roman. Roman and I sat at the backseat while he drove. I could feel his eyes on me from the windscreen. I wonder what his problem was. Some minutes later, h

Philip’s POVI stood still, watching Marceline walk away. I had never seen her this angry before.“Marceline,” I called and went after her, but she didn’t slow down. She entered her room and slammed the door. I tried to open it, but it was locked from inside.I sighed in frustration. I didn’t like how things were going between us. We were husband and wife, yet we lived like strangers. How did we end up like this? I closed my eyes and dragged my hand through my hair, knowing well that I was the one who broke our marriage. But how did she know that I gave Anastasia the card? I wondered, heading to my room.I was about to remove my tie when my phone rang. It was Anastasia.“Philip,” Anastasia’s voice burst through the line, high and shaky. She was crying. “You can’t believe what Marceline did to me today,” she said between sobs.I frowned. How could someone’s voice be this loud and sharp? These days, everything about her irritated me.“She humiliated me!” she cried even louder. I moved t

Chapter 53 Marceline’s POV“Why did you allow those women talk to you like that?” Dominic asked and glanced at me briefly before returning his eyes to the road.We were heading back to his company after having lunch. He didn’t say anything about it throughout the meal, and I thought he wouldn’t ask.“They are fries that aren’t worth my clap,” I replied gently with a little scorn. But I still felt pain inside. Philip gave Anastasia that credit card...how dare him give her something meant for both of us? I could only hope that it wasn’t true, that I mistook the card for the one given to us by Grandfather. Because if it truly was, Philip won’t like my reaction. My hand clenched tightly, trying to hold my anger until I got home and checked where I had kept it.I was still lost in thought when my clenched hand was held and entangled by Dominic’s right hand, while the other stayed on the steering.“Don’t let their words affect you,” he said in a calm voice, his eyes still on the road.I s

  • The Game of a Married Woman    Chapter 51: The Mall Scene

Marceline’s POVDominic’s car came to a halt at the parking lot of the mall we planned to shop in. It was a new mall, one that sold clothes for all ages and had a jewelry section too.“I’ll be at the men’s section. Message me when you’re done,” Dominic said softly, his deep voice gentle.Like always, I rode with him. My car was still at his company, and I planned to pick it up when we finished.“Okay,” I replied with a small smile before getting out of the car. We couldn’t walk in together, and we both knew that.Inside the mall, I headed to the children’s section first to get some clothes for Roman.“Welcome, ma’am,” an attendant said politely, ushering me in.I began picking out small shirts and trousers, running my hand across soft fabrics. My eyes caught a navy blue shirt hanging at the corner. For a second, I just stared at it—it reminded me of Mathew, Dominic’s son. I thought the shirt would look good on him. Smiling faintly, I reached out to take it.My hand had barely touched

Marceline’s POV(Three weeks later)"Mr. Halvourne is waiting for you," Gabriel, Dominic’s assistant, said to me as soon as I walked out of the elevator on the presidential floor.I nodded with a smile. I was here to give him the report on the ongoing project between our companies.I opened his office door and walked in, but he wasn’t on his chair. Didn’t Gabriel say he was waiting for me? I wondered as I closed the door. I walked to his desk, dropped my bag, and brought out the report files.“Ahem,” I heard from behind me.I turned around and saw him leaning on the shelf with a smile on his face.“Good day,” I greeted with a small smile. He started walking toward me with one hand behind his back, like he was hiding something.“Here, sweet,” he said softly, and a flower appeared in front of my face.I blinked, stunned for a second. I didn’t expect to receive a flower from him. A wide smile spread across my face as I took it from him and sniffed it. It smelled fresh and sweet.“Thank
