High Ceiling

Vale walked into the kitchen and started making breakfast. She just finished cooking when Keith walked into the kitchen.

His eyes trailed from the floor of my house and stopped when he saw her ceiling.

'Observing my house, hmm?'

Her brother’s clothes actually fit his body. The bruise on his face reminds her that she needs to treat it later.

Vale put the breakfast on the countertop and sat on the stool. He sat opposite her. Neither of them says any words until they finish eating.

Vale stood up and took his and her own plate to the sink. She was about to wash it when she felt a cold metal touching her arm gently.

“Hey-” Keith yelled.

Vale turned around and saw Genna, her female robot worker. She glanced at the tab, and it says that it will do the work. Vale smile and nodded.

This is so cool.

She looks at Keith and smirked when she saw his mouth gaped open.

“It’s okay Keith. She doesn’t bite.”

He coughed, trying to cover his surprise face even though she already saw it. Her eyes squinted as she grinned at him.

Vale walked towards the living room with Keith hot on her trail. She sat on the couch, and he sat beside her.

Still not saying any word but not awkward either considering both of them are both too lost in their own thoughts.

Vale turns the Tv on.

A few minutes later, she noticed that she had forgotten to treat his bruise.

She pressed the button under the table in front of them.

Not long after that, a robot came into the living room with a first aid kit.

Vale took it and notice the robot wouldn’t budge from its place. She looks at it and noticed it watching Keith warily with its head slightly tilted.

“Lex, he wouldn’t do any harm,” she stated.

Vale knows their name because there is a nametag on their left chest.

It finally leaves the living room.

She opened the first aid kit and turned towards Keith. He was watching the robot who had its back on them as its walk away.

Vale tapped his shoulder. His turned to look at me.

“The robot is not dangerous. Not if, you have something against it or the opposites.” Vale explained as he nodded his head slowly.

“Now, I need to treat this...” She poked one of the bruises on his neck playfully.

He groaned and took her wrist in his hand, “That hurts,” he complained.

Vale raised an eyebrow, “...and this...” she said as her finger trailed on his face, not noticing how close their positions are.

Vale squealed when he lifted her easily on his lap with his hands on her waist.

So now, she was straddling him. Tingles shot up from where he was touching her.

“Take care of me, babe,” he said as he grinned mischievously.

Vale narrowed her eyes at him as she took out what was needed from the first aid kit and treated the bruise and cut on his face and neck. Aware of his hawk eyes that were watching her the entire time.

She took hold of his hands, noting that he didn’t fight back.

Hmm... He did deserve it.

Vale closed the first aid kit and was about to stand up to put it on the table in front when Keith pulled her flat on his chest. Her eyes widen at the sudden movements and also the fact that his heart is beating through her body as her own heart followed its fast rhythm.

A few seconds later, she pushed herself off of him and stand up before sitting back on his lap in a more comfortable position.

His arms instinctively move to her waist.

'What are we, exactly?'

Vale sighed and leaned into his chest. He holds her tightly in his arms as if afraid that she would leave.

The tingling sensation came back as they watch the movie on the TV and listen to each other’s heartbeat in silence.

A comfortable silence.
