Alison sat cringing trying her best not to think of what may be taking place on the other side of that wall. 'I've seen to many times what happens when an average worker becomes the target of a rich person.' In her mind there was no doubt Tanner was doing everything in his power to have Collen fired... And for what? He was defending herself and other's, including the person who was about to fire him.
What was minutes began to feel like an eternity as Alison sat waiting. What she would do to hear what was happening inside that room. After thirty minutes of waiting Alison could hear the sounds of the door unlocking. Both Collen and Tanner were leaving the room and looked horribly depressed as they were passing by, although one thing that stood out was the fact now they both looked as if they were beaten up.
"Collen!" Alison ran over moving in front of him. "What happened!? Is everything ok?"
"Alison please come in now, we have much to discuss."
"Don't worry about me love, I will find a way to manage some how, better not keep her waiting." Collen could only muster a weak smile for her. " Now get in there and it'll all be worth it" Waving goodbye Tanner and Collen entered the elevator leaving Alison standing with a worried expression
"Alison please come along before I start to have second thoughts." Evelyn called out sounding rather stern.
"Ah yes, I'm coming. I'm so sorry."
Rebecca walked past giving Alison a wink, while carrying her tray with some empty cups, but also one that looked like it had been shattered.
"Well we will have a lot to discuss. Collen told me about what had happened, so don't worry about your appearance, and I can promise nothing of the sort will ever happen to you here. So was there any particular modeling field you were interested in? Lingerie, swimsuit, fashion?"
"I-I wanted to do fashion, but I-I'm not sure I have what it takes. I have tried for what feels like forever. Now I'm barely lucky enough to get a call as a substitute."
"That is nothing. I will be blunt, you have the potential to do all three of those fields easily if you wish. Do not squander the chance Collen has presented you with."
'I want this... I want this so badly, but..' Alison was having the largest inner conflict she had ever experienced in her life. A battle between her heart's deepest desires, and one of her conscience.
"There's is almost nothing I want more then to accept your offer..."
"But?"
"If you fired Collen for sticking up for Sierra and myself, I can't accept! Why would you fire him!? Do you even care that he attacked Tanner because of what he had said about you!?" In the end Alison was unable to contain her emotions and let loose on Evelyn, who patiently waited for Alison to finish venting. Although Alison could not be certain she could swear throughout her rant the smile on Evelyn's face was growing more and more.
Briefly a thought passed through Alison's mind. 'Maybe she doesn't want me here, and is looking for a reason not to hire me?'
"Never mind. It probably doesn't matter what I say does it?"
"Quite right." Evelyn was smiling ear to ear.
Pffft."HAHAHA." Evelyn began laughing unable to hold back despite Alison's sincerity. "I'm sorry, it has been quite some time since anyone had the audacity to speak to me that way. What I do find funny is, I did not fire Collen. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't laugh, but I'm unable to help it."
"Huh?" Alison's mouth fell open. " But he was so looked so sad. A-A-And."
"HAHA." Evelyn was now gripping her sides and had tears from laughing flowing down her face. "He is upset because of all the extra paperwork he has to do."
"What?"
"Let's just say paper work is his kryptonite. As he always says, he would rather go back to getting shot at on a daily basis then do paper work."
"Getting shot at?"
"His story to tell if he chooses. So what do you say?"
"Ummm well then yes... YES! I would love to work for The Garden!"
"Great! I will have a contract drawn up, If you don't have a lawyer to look it over speak with Collen he would be more then happy to take you to one. Also I'm going to schedule a photograph session for you so we can put together a new portfolio for you. I get the feeling those Burgundy bastards didn't do their job properly."
"Thank you so much for all of your help!" Alison said bowing her head. Never in a million years would she have imagined this day would take such a drastic turn. Her emotions were overflowing her control. Tears traced a glistening line down her cheek as she repeatedly tried wiping them away. Then a realization hit her. "Wait.. What about Daphne?"
"Daphne, Daphne... Ah you mean that girl Tanner was trying to bring in for a collaboration? What about her?"
"Umm we have kind of a history... I do not wish to speak badly of anyone though."
"Please do not hold back now." Evelyn smiled lightly. When they had first met, Alison would have assumed Evelyn was cold, calculating and heartless, but now she couldn't help but to feel nothing but warmth in her smile. " Besides if there is going to be an issue I would much rather hear about it now then after I sign a contract. There are ways around such things, but it's truly a headache."
Alison began recounting her side of their past, she still didn't have any clues as to why Daphne's attitude with her had changed so fast. Perhaps I had done something to offend her? Had I met her in the past and did something then? Why? I just want to know why.
"I see... Well then, I'll l have to go speak with them in the lobby. Would you mind accompanying me?"
Alison was visibly startled by the request. 'Why would She want me to come down and speak with them? Even if confronted by this Daphne would probably spin things in her favor. Evelyn may even reconsider offering me a contract?'
"Don't worry I have dealt with the type before. Jealousy can be an ugly thing."
"Jealous? I mean she is beautiful, and I wish I could land the types of jobs she does so easily, but I never considered myself jealous." Her eyes down cast and face turning red from embarrassment.
"I'm talking about her jealousy of you."
"I'm sorry her what now?" Alison's eyes went wide. "Th-That can't be it right?"
'All this time. She was jealous of me?' Alison was hearing the words but they were almost refusing to register in her mind.
"But she's so pretty, and she already has a greatly successful career as a beginning model. Why would she be jealous of me?"
"You're confident enough to become a model, but you some how at the same time lack confidence in yourself. Quite the contradiction I must say." Evelyn mumbled walking out of the office toward her private elevator.
Alison chased after Evelyn into the elevator, where they both remained silent for the ride down. Alison was giving some thought to what Evelyn had said. Although it felt as if it was improbable, it also felt as if it was the only explanation for Daphne's change in attitude. No matter how many times she thought on their past, she could not come up with anything that would cause such a drastic change.
When the elevator doors opened, Daphne was standing by Alexander tapping her foot impatiently. Although Alexander also looked extremely displeased he did a much better job hiding it. Especially when he saw Evelyn the smile of a wolf in sheep's clothing spread across his face. "Eve, darling it is good to see you again!" "Alexander, I was unaware you were the one representing this child." "As I am sure you are aware, I came here after discussing a possible collaboration between some of our models with Tanner. Although I must say, I am quite disappointed with our welcoming. First a receptionist that seems completely incompetent and rude, then some dumb Irish bastard, insulted not only me but poor Daphne without cause." Alexander heaved a clearly exaggerated sigh and threw his arms out. " Now I am beginning to wonder if I should be seeking out another agency to work with." Evelyn listened to Alexander's long drawn out performance. Who does thi
"What about Alexander?" Daphne spoke up suddenly with a look concern."That clown you're better off without him, he will use you and throw you to the side in the end." Collen shrugged."No I mean I'm under contract with him.""Don't worry, we will take care of that. As long as you show how sincere you are during this week. Just enjoy your time in the hotel Collen is going to set up." Evelyn sighed. "This is going to be a headache."Sierra ran over to Collen handing him a piece of paper. "Well ladies, I have to make a few phone calls. I'll leave you to it."The atmosphere had become much lighter after Alexander left. "So will things be ok? I know that guy Tanner seemed to really dislike Collen.""Oh you don't have to worry about him. I fired him, he was only here to return a favor to his father.""Do you mind if I ask what happened in the office?""Hmmm." Evelyn crossed one arm over her chest and cupped her chi
Alison had swore today would be the day! The day things would finally turn her way, the day she would finally get a real contract with a respectable company. She just would never have imagined that it would begin the way it had. The would be hero Daniel Burgundy actually turned out to be would be molester or worse. The man she had doubts about had turned out to be the hero. One of, if not the most kind person she has ever been fortunate enough to meet.Evelyn had bid farewell to Daphne, Sierra, and Alison a few minutes ago, the girls were now waiting for Collen to finish making his call at Sierra's desk."No....NO!.. Well how about you read the damn caller ID and you will know where I'm calling from, or do you spend all your money of roofies to use on the women you represent you prick! Look I don't care, Listen here Mr. Boggerdeedee If I find out you or your brother come near here again or anyone we represent I will bring the damn building down on top of your head!
"Would you believe me if I said I am the owner?"Alison, and Daphne both turned to look at Collen simultaneously. Collen sat on the bar stool looking to the girls with a calm smile on his face. They both were searching Collen's eyes with their inquisitive gazes glued to him searching for the truth. Their expressions both seem to say the same thing in the end. 'Impossible.''There's no way right? He works a desk! He was being beaten on by the Tanner guy.' At this point Alison could not help but trust Collen almost completely, but this.. This was just too much for her to accept. It would make him a billionaire who was walking around in Blue jeans, rescuing women in danger, placing himself in danger that being said! What billionaire does that?Daphne was having very similar thoughts. She had not been rescued by Collen, had any kind of interaction with him that would make her head over heels for him, or place her trust in him completely. So she was doing her best to ga
Alison and Daphne followed his finger with their eyes. The pair looked up at the ceiling as if their lingering gaze could pierce through the layers of the building standing above them. Daphne frowned. She couldn't help but feel Collen was taking Alison and herself for fools. Any floors above them were all suites of some sort. She even knew the top ones took up an entire floor to itself."And just which floor is it your majesty is staying on." Daphne laughed her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Look I really don't know what your game is, but even if we are new to the industry, even if you are in fact Evelyn's boy toy, the hotel would not simply comp you a suite, plus I doubt she values the sex at ten thousand dollars a night just because you're feeling kind of tired."Collen could only smile. He completely understood anyone having doubts especially about someone they had just met earlier this afternoon. If someone came up to him and said, ' Oh hey by the
All her life Daphne had always been a city girl she was born, raised, and would probably die in the city. Any times she previously took a drive outside the city, was usually in the day time or she had slept. So the view that lay in front of her struck her down to the core. When the elevator came to a stop the doors had opened revealing a rooftop garden like nothing she had ever seen. A river stretched across the rooftop, on one side there was a pool that looked similar to a tropical beach. Beautiful assortment of flower filled the grassy area with the occasional tree underneath the largest one was a small clearing and a bench. flowing out from the elevator a stone path that connected to a small bridge rising over the river, and towards A large glass dome. While all of this was indeed impressive, what truly took her breath away was the sky."It's so beautiful." Fate could not have chosen a more beautiful clear night to present this gift to the eyes. Everyone grows
"If you two would like you can stay the night up here." They had sat down and enjoyed a movie while finishing their drinks. When Collen heard Alison yawn. "Umm." Daphne began to say before Collen held up his hand. "This place has more then one room of course." He laughed seeing the look on Daphne's face. "S-Sorry." "I really meant it when I said I expect nothing in return. If in the future you decide you want some sort of relationship great. If not, no pressure. It won't change how I treat you." Collen shrugged his shoulders. It was far from the first time he had a reaction like this, it would probably be far from the last time either. Alison glanced over to Daphne. "I'm ok with it if you are?" .. "What the hell, why not? Although if you touch Alison, I'll cut your parts off." Daphne smiled confidently. "Oh does that mean you're fair game?" Collen asked teasingly. "Play your cards right." !!
Knock Knock. Daphne and Alison were awoken by the sounds of someone gently knocking on the door. Both of the girls were at first unwilling to open their eyes afraid the night before was nothing more then a beautiful dream. Alison cringed slowly opening a single eye, her eye's immediately shot open and she happily let out an excited squeak before bouncing out of the bed. "I'm coming!" She called out practically floating to the door. 'Guess that means it wasn't a dream.' Daphne thought. She opened her eyes and even she couldn't contain a smile of her own. 'What can I say this girl's attitude is just contagious.' She then heard another squeal of excitement echo out from the hallway. Daphne followed the voices to find a Alison smiling ear to ear while talking with an employee of the hotel. "Daphne! Daphne! Look!" Alison called out. As Daphne stepped out of the hallway A smiling maid gave Daphne a light bow. "Hello, Ma'am. I was instructed by a young Irish
