Chapter 44: Everett

After dinner, we all gather into one of my laboratory spaces. I had warned Enya and Aspen about what we were going to do so they knew not to get nervous if they heard shouting or loud voices.

Fenian had offered to assist me, but I told him Kaylani would be there to assist. I did take the time to talk to him about Tesha.

“You want to tell me about you and Tesha?”

He glanced at me as he looked over Brooke’s DNA. I’ve already confirmed that it’s ready, but Fenian is my star student and I want him to learn as well.

“What about me and Tesha?” he asks.

“I’ve heard a rumor that you might think she’s your mate? Or at least, you’re acting like she might be. I want to make sure that you’re not doing something stupid Fenian,” I tell him.

He stands, turning to face me. “What do you mean, ‘stupid’? Do you mean spending time with Tesha?” he asks defensively.

“No. I mean pretending that she’s your mate so you can hurt her. That girl’s been through enough.”

“I would never hurt her,” he growls.
