Chapter 5: GABRIEL

I'm not too up on the latest biker bullshit though I'd heard stories before I came here and had done some research on my own to get some idea of what I was walking into. There's some shit that these people do that I can never wrap my head around, but one thing I know, if a seller has a buyer lined up, then there were talks of a deal.

I walked outside, where some of the men were still milling around, no doubt talking about what just happened with Sam. I saw the only Billy in the group that I'd met so far. A middle-aged beer gutted man with a dirty grey and brown beard who looked like he hadn't seen the inside of a shower in ages.

I knew from the way he reacted when I called out his name and started walking towards him that he knew precisely why I was coming after him. His eyes jumped around like a cornered rat looking for an escape. There is none.

I saw my two shadows move away from the wall where they'd been standing and follow behind me. I stopped right in front of this specimen, looking him up and down. "How much?" I heard everything come to a standstill behind me but did not turn around to look.

"I don't know what you mean; how much what?" Either he wasn't as tough as he seemed, or he was one of the rare people who'd seen beneath my polished veneer to the beast beneath because swear to fuck he was already starting to sweat, and there was a hint of fear in his eyes.

I leaned in close, close enough that I could smell the staleness of his fetid breath. "If you'd ever touched her, you'd be dead. Now how much did you offer to pay for her?"

"It wasn't like that." I reached out and grabbed him by the throat, which has always been my signature move.

The right amount of pressure on the pulse that beats there can incapacitate a man of any size in mere seconds. It beats getting my hands bloody by bare knuckling someone's face, which is my other go-to. Him, I wanted to kill in a very vicious way for even thinking he could touch her; mine… The fuck! Shake it off, Gabe, wrong time, wrong place.

I got myself together but barely restrained from choking him out right there in front of everyone. "Let's try this again." He took one look at my eyes, and drool escaped the side of his mouth. I could smell the fear coming off him now. Most people aren't aware that fear has its own scent; I was trained to sniff that shit out. More often than not after, I'd been the one to instill it, of course.

He almost shit himself when the smile crossed my lips. Oh yeah, he knew.

"Te…te…ten grand."

"And where were you supposed to be getting this money?" They have no way of knowing, the twenty or so men that my dad had left behind, but I'd already combed through their finances, among other things. I knew everything there is to know about them going back two generations. That's how I work.

"I…I had it saved up." His eyes did that, flitting around shit again, but there was no escaping the hold I had on his neck.

"You're lying. Who asked you to buy her?" His eyes popped open wide as if it was some mystery that I'd come to that conclusion.

I guess after dealing with the other assholes around here that weren't much better than him, he'd expect everyone else to be dumb as a fucking stump. He has no idea I'm way ahead of him. It was the only thing I'd asked dad for when I agreed to come clean up his mess. He was to tell no one who or what I really am.

"A name or your life, you choose." "You…you wouldn't do that here with all these people around." That was his last-ditch effort to feel me out. I exerted just enough pressure on his jugular, making sure to press my thumb down on that pulse as I did, and his knees buckled as he started to grapple to get a hold on my hand.

His fingers just slid off the buttery soft leather of the gloves I wore as he scrambled to catch his next breath. "Okay-okay, I'll tell you." The words came out warbled and unintelligible, but since they're what I was listening for, I heard them loud and clear.

I released my hold on his neck as his body gave out, and he dropped to the ground clutching at his throat and breathing like a wounded bear tracking a hunter in the woods. I wiped my gloves off and looked over his head when he stood. "I'm waiting." He did that shit with his eyes again, but I wasn't worried. He's the type that would give up his mother if it would get him out of dying.

He rattled off a name, and I didn't show by even the flicker of a lash whether I knew it or not. "Sebastian, Garret, take him," I ordered my guys, who moved around me to lift him by the armpits while he bellowed about us having a deal. I don't recall saying anything about a deal, but he wasn't worth telling. My time with him was over.

My team knew why I was really here and would get everything I need out of him; there was no need for me to ever see his face again unless something else comes up involving her. I'm not usually callous with human life, but since he'd been all set to sell one of his own into certain hell, fuck him.

I'm sure the boys will keep him alive for a while, though, since they like to find reasons to save people and shit. Me, I'd given up on finding saving graces in man long ago. At least I doubt the father knew what he was selling his daughter into. But it's still sick that he was even going to sell her. Then again, how sure am I that he didn't know? He got off too easy.

  • The Gentleman Biker   GABRIEL

My usual stoic approach to things failed me, and I was more nervous than expected on the way to her appointment with the doctor. She seemed fine since she had no idea what I was really after, and her excited chatter each time she saw something new out the window helped keep me grounded, at least for a little while. Suspecting she was pregnant and having her pregnancy confirmed by a professional are two completely different things, though I can tell you that. I didn’t know that seeing the black and white ultrasound printout would make such a difference, but the thing that surprised me most and put fear in me was the fact that she was carrying twins. She seemed to be in shock, so I had to get my act together to offer her the strength she needed, though all the angst I had since the beginning came rushing back. I wanted more than anything to know what she was thinking, feeling, but for the first time as a man, I was lost for words. I didn’t want to hear anything negative about my

There was only one hiccup as far as I could see, and that was the fact that I had yet to meet his mother. I only mention it because that had seemed of the utmost importance to him before we arrived, and now he doesn’t seem too keen; in fact, he hasn’t even mentioned it with all the running around we’ve done. I concluded that something had gone wrong, but I was too chicken to ask, because I was afraid of what he might say. Since I didn’t want anything to mar our otherwise perfect time together, I did my best to ignore the sting of rejection. Maybe that was the very reason Gabriel had been going above and beyond to make sure I was enjoying myself. Still, as much as I tried to ignore it, there was no escaping that little bit of fear that lingered. What if he sent me back because his mother didn’t like me? What if this causes a rift in their relationship, which seemed great before I came along? I’m sure he’d choose his mother over me, the girl he’d just met. I was tying mys

SILLA I can get used to this. I’ve been in the city for four days and I’m already hooked on the sights and sounds and the people, so many people. For a people watcher like me, it’s like paradise. I’m sure I would’ve loved the city no matter what, but experiencing it with Gabriel makes it all the more special, and I can’t believe that this is my life. My mother, who I talk to every single day, is happy and seems to be flourishing in her new life so far. I talk to my Dad as well and it’s getting easier to accept that all of this is happening, though sometimes it still seems unreal. A part of me is still a bit wary and leaves me with that feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop. Gabriel keeps busy throughout the day when we get back from my little adventures as he calls them, and it’s the first time since we’ve met that I’ve been away from him for any length of time. He's usually just down the hall in his home office with the door closed, but it f

Talk about feelings; the way my heart jumped and my dick grew hard as soon as she came into my arms is something I never want to lose. The two reactions are so all-encompassing and yet so far removed from each other that it made my head spin. This girl! How? Why? I still don’t know the answers to that question. All I know is that it’s all new to me, this cacophony of feelings that bombard my system and send my senses reeling each and every time. It’s like something zapped me on that very first day we met and hasn’t eased up on its hold on me since. I stupidly thought that once back in the city, it would wear off, and I’d come back to my senses, at least a little bit, but truth be told, it only seems to have intensified. Because now I had brought her here, away from everyone and everything she knew, as limited as it was. I didn’t take into consideration how that new weight of responsibility would feel. I didn’t know that two hours after bringing her home for t

  • The Gentleman Biker   Chapter182: GABRIEL

I slipped out of bed once I was sure she was asleep. I’d heard Mom’s ringtone earlier, but I was otherwise occupied. I shouldn’t put off calling her back for much longer, or she’d keep calling and wake my girl up. No doubt she’d been calling to give me an earful for not coming to see her, but I’m sure I can get her to calm down and erase whatever hurt she’s feeling. I hadn’t thought this thing through very well, I realize, knowing how sensitive Mom can be, but my only thought was of getting Silla home and settled before her life here began. I think I’m beginning to see why friends in the past always seemed to change once they got married and settled down. It seems to be a given that once you change your life in that way, there’s no help for it. I’ll be the first to say I never expected to fall victim to the same malady, but here we are, day one, and I’ve already fallen down the rabbit hole. Like now, I needed to call Mom but was finding it hard to leave her side even though

  • The Gentleman Biker   Chapter 181: NIKKI

Chapter 181: NIKKI “Do you see what I mean? She’s already started.” I’d left for a few hours with the promise of bringing her dessert from her favorite bakery downtown. I’d planned to use that as an excuse to drop in while Gabriel was here, but I walked in to find her alone while her husband was up in his office, and no sign of Gabriel or the unwelcomed slut. Of course, I worked my way around to asking about his arrival as soon as I walked in, and that’s when I learned that he hadn’t shown up but had called to say he’d be here the next day. I hid my disappointment well but soon realized that this was the perfect opening and better than I could hope for. “What do you mean?” “What does Gabriel usually do when he returns to the city after being away for so long?” “Comes to see me and his stepdad, even before going to his place.” “So why do you think he didn’t do that this time?” I wasn’t going to say it out loud if I didn’t have to, but I sure as hell was going to le

  • The Gentleman Biker   Chapter 64: SILLA

I lived off of that cute little nickname for a good five minutes, letting the pleasure wash over me as I imagined myself as Bambi with the big eyes. Then I wondered if he saw me as an adorable little kid and let that gnaw away at me for the next five. I need a life. These last few weeks of inertia h

"One more thing before I go. Don't cry alone again without me there to comfort you." I didn't wait around for her response but left after one last look at her; all snuggled up in bed. She looked so small there, and for a moment, it gave me pause. How the hell does someone like me handle something th

I half expected the jolt to the system but was still shocked by it. It was enough to stop me in my tracks. I felt like I was outside of myself, that it was another me experiencing this. Maybe it's because of all the advice I'd been receiving in the last twenty-four hours, all the words and shared ex

Quick, fast, like removing a Band-aid. That's how I usually deliver bad news, but not this time. This time, in the few steps it took me to reach her door, I must've thought of three different ways to break the news to her, and none of them were satisfactory because no matter how I said it or what I
