Kade
“Alpha, we have unexpected guests” Alex's voice boomed in my head making me growl.
“How many?” I barked, annoyed. Why do I have to go on a killing spree after the beautiful night I had.
“The scout told me they are around 400 hundred” Alex replied quickly.
“What’s the location?” I asked, jumping out of bed.
“The south border” Alex mind-linked back and for some reason my heart skipped a beat. What if I was wrong and my beautiful wolf was just a decoy. I knew I should have been going after her.
“Gather the best warriors and meet me outside in ten” I growled through the mind-link.
“Alpha, it’s not an attack…they are not rogue wolves”. Alex answered after a moment. “They are humans.” He added, gulping down hard.
“Humans?” I snorted. “Are you sure?” I asked again to make sure I heard right.
“Yes, they are camped close to the lake. Our men watched them all morning to make sure they were not getting ready to attack us. They have women and children with them.” Alex told me cautiously.
“Why are they out in this weather?” I heard myself asking. It didn’t make sense. Humans usually travel during the summer, not now when the winter is close and the temperatures are low. Something wasn’t adding up.
“I don’t know, Kade. It looks like they are just passing through. To be sure I am going to check it out. I’ll keep you posted” Alex uttered. I could feel his anxiety through the mind-link. None of us wants to have to fight, but we have too in order to keep our women and children safe.
“I am coming with you” I mumbled, closing the mind-link.
My wolf wines and I could feel he is restless. He doesn’t care about the people who are camping on our territory. All he wants is to go and find the grey wolf. I never saw him like this. Yet he was never interested in a she-wolf before.
I am debating if I should get dressed or just go in my wolf form but yet again these are humans that I need to deal with.
Most of the humans are not aware of our existence and finding out it might cause more problems than good. Problems that I am not ready to deal with right now.
After taking a quick shower, I put on a pair of ripped jeans and a black shirt. Studying myself in the mirror I decided to put on a leather jacket and military boots. Yeah, this was much better. I could pass on as human.
As I come down the stairs, I see Alex waiting for me with Ella, his mate. The worried expression is spread all over his face.
“What?” I asked bluntly, heading to the kitchen so I could pour myself a coffee. Without coffee I am as savage as my wolf. What can I say? I am a coffee man. First comes the coffee and after the important decisions.
“Kade, what are you planning to do?” Ella, asked me softly.
“About?” I looked up, frowning my eyebrows.
“The humans,” Ella whispered softly, surprising me. Since she moved to the pack house and became a member of my pack she never questioned my decisions so I am curious what got into her.
“I am going to check them out, myself. See why they are out there in this weather…” I said shortly, shrugging my shoulders.
“Alex told me that they have women and children,” Ella mumbled. “What if they need help?” She was looking serious and I wondered what else she was thinking about.
“We’ll see,” I answered, gulping down the coffee. “You’re driving”, I said, throwing the keys of my Jeep Wrangler, to Alex. “Mind-link the guards to keep an eye on the caravan and let us know if there’s any change and for the rest of the warriors, we need them to be close in case this is a setup and we need to fight them” I uttered shortly.

As we exit the pack house main road, the fog is getting worse. Alex barely sees the road so he has to slow down in order to keep us on the road. I curse under my breath my decision to wear clothes, but again we are talking about humans.
I am sure they would not appreciate seeing me naked.
We have different businesses around the country, but the one closest to my heart is the cabins resort on the other side of the mountains. It’s an all year business and it’s getting popular each year. People who are coming can enjoy the mountain trails, back horse riding or ski sports during the winter season.
A sharp scream brought me back from my thoughts and I almost jumped out from the moving car.
“You heard that?” I asked Alex.
“ I sure did,” he replied before pulling over.
The scream filled the air again and I started running like a crazy man without looking back. I don’t stop to catch my breath or listen for more screams. It’s like I know already where the screams are coming from.
Without thinking twice I remove my clothes and shift letting my wolf out to destroy.
It didn't take me long to find out what was happening. A girl who didn’t seem to be older than sixteen or seventeen was bravely fighting two rogue wolves.
The growl that left my chest made the wolves step back leaving the girl unattended. One of the wolves looked in my direction but decided that I was not a threat so he went after the girl who was holding a branch. She hit the wolf with so much power making me wonder if she really needed my help. I growled again as I came close jumping to the roque who was messing up with the girl. By the time he saw me coming it was too late I already ripped out his head. As the girl's eyes went wide in horror I turned my back to the other rogue who was now retreating. I growled again to make sure he got the message and left while he was still alive.
A faded scent of jasmine made me snap my head and look at the girl who was still terrified looking at the wolf corpse at her feet. I could tell she was in shock but I had to know…I had to find out if it was her…My grey wolf. I slowly got closer to her and touched her hand with my nose. I sniffed for a second but I couldn’t tell, the smell of blood was too strong. Her coat made from the animal skins didn’t help either. Maybe it was just my imagination, maybe I wanted too much to find her…
“Alpha, is everything okay?” Alex mind-linked me appearing from the bushes.
“Please, don’t hurt me” I heard her whisper before she passed out.
KadeI shifted into my human form, just in time to catch her before she hit the ground. As I was placing her down carefully I couldn’t stop myself from looking at her. She was small, but she fitted perfectly into my arms. I moved away the chestnut hair that covered her face and I couldn’t stop myself from staring. Her skin was as white as the snow that was about to fall while her plump lips had a rosy color making my mind wonder how they taste.“Kade, is she hurt?” I heard Alex’s voice coming from behind. I blinked a couple of times to steady myself before I started checking her out for any injuries.“Yeah, those damn dogs bit her.“ I sneered annoyed.“Catch,” Alex said, throwing my clothes. I put them on quickly, not leaving her side. What was about
KadeWhat the hell was wrong with me? Why did I let her leave? Even after I cleaned her wound and patched her up she was in no condition to walk and yet knowing that I let her leave. I honestly thought that she was playing a mind game, wanting me to chase and beg her to stay so that's why I stood in my tracks watching her small figure disappear into the woods waiting for her return.“Kade” I snapped when Alex said my name. “What?” I snorted out annoyed.“It’s been an hour since Sabine left… what are we still doing here?” Alex’s question left me dumbfounded.“An hour?” I heard myself saying and I saw Alex nodding. “Well let’s go, she had her chance to change her mind and come
KadeLily led us to the fire, where the men were gathered around drinking and smoking. She disappeared for a moment just to come back with two mugs filled with liquor..“I made it myself,” Lily pointed to the mugs “Cheers” she added before she disappeared again.“Damn, that’s strong” Alex’s voice made me laugh. I didn’t need to taste it, the smell coming from the mug was definitely strong.Five men took their place, quietly, in the middle, fixing their instruments and before I knew it they started to sing. I couldn’t understand the words but it was clearly a happy song, sung with so much passion.“That’s a cimbalom”, Lily told me proudly when
SabineI have been walking for hours now. The pain coming from my leg is almost unbearable, but I have to keep going. I have to. I sighed seeing the mark I made an hour ago, on an old stump. I kept going in circles. I can feel the tears ready to wash my face, but I refuse to give up. I will find a way out of this giant endless maze.I hoped that by the time it’s going to be dark I would be close to the main road so I don’t have to worry about the wolves or other savage animals. Little did I know that I would probably get stuck in here forced to find shelter and something to eat.Despite Inna yelling in my head not to leave, to stay with Him, I chose to walk away. I meant every single word I said. I wanted to find my own way. As much as I was grateful for his help it wouldn’t be fair to him to drag him into my mess…The
Kade Where are you, Sabine? I asked myself looking at the three lines. It’s been three days since anyone saw her and I started looking for her. It’s like she vanished into the darkness but I know better. She is here, I can feel her, yet I can’t find her. I sighed, going back to the table and pouring myself another drink. I curse under my breath seeing the empty bottle. “Any leads” I mind-link the patrol guards. “No, Alpha” their answers came back the same. I rubbed my temple annoyed trying to get rid of the headache I had. I started pacing back and forth forcing myself to think of the places we didn’t look at yet. She is injured and I know she couldn’t walk that far so why am I unable to find her then.
Kade“Fuck” I cursed under my breath seeing Sabine’s naked body laying on the frozen ground. My bones snapped and rearranged almost instantly, thanks to the multiple times I shifted.I bent down quickly checking her pulse and I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. She was alive. Her pulse was weak but it was there and that gave me hope.“Come on Sabine, wake up.” I said, shaking her trying to get a reaction from her. She looked just like a sleeping Snow White. “Don’t give up on me” I voiced out, surprising myself.I glanced around to see if I could spot the grey she-wolf, but like the other time, she was gone. Kieran's anxiety made my head spin and I had to push him back so I could focus. I know the she-wolf needed medical attention, too and I will do my best to find her. Right now I can’t go chasing
KadeI kept pacing back and forth on the pack clinic hallway waiting for someone to come and let me know how Sabine was doing. We were twenty minutes away when I mind linked the pack doctor, letting her know that I needed her help. The doctor waited for us in front of the clinic taking Sabine right away. I knew she was going to send someone as soon as she had news.I glanced at the wall clock and I felt stuck in time. Only a minute has passed since I checked it last time. I brushed my hair nervously not knowing what to do next."Boss, we came as soon as we heard the news” Jonah’s voice sounded behind me. As I turned to look at him I could see the worry spread all over his face.” This is my wife, Alma,” Jonah said, introducing a woman who looked down, fidgeting her fingers. “And this
SabineA sob leaves my mouth while I am covering my eyes. I feel sore. I kept tossing and turning, but I am not ready to wake up yet. My eyelids feel heavy and the light is bothering my eyes. I sighed thinking that today I have to come up with a plan. I am not going to survive if I keep eating frozen roots, I need some protein too.The thought I could fail slips into my mind and for a moment I am debating if I should go back to my dad, but I push the thought away. I would rather die here starving than going back and being forced to marry Mika.A growl escapes my mouth as a beeping sound becomes louder, forcing me to open my eyes and see where it was coming from.I gasped in shock seeing that I wasn’t in the tree hollow anymore. I was in a cold white roo
