Chapter 6

Author: Jasmine Flower
Antonio started digging into everything that went down before Emilia died.

He grilled every doctor who'd seen her and uncovered the truth—Viviana hadn't been helping Emilia. She was straight-up torturing her.

Then he pulled the security footage from the hospital's treatment room.

In the footage, Emilia was tied to a chair. Viviana stood over her with a stun device, zapping her again and again.

Emilia screamed, twisted in pain, while Viviana looked thrilled.

Then came a syringe—Viviana jabbed it into her like it was nothing.

Emilia thrashed harder, and Viviana just laughed like it was all a game.

Antonio watched, heart shattering.

He couldn't even wrap his head around how much Emilia had gone through.

It had all happened for so long—right in front of them.

His fists clenched, eyes burning with a mix of rage and guilt.

Antonio showed the footage to Francesca and Riccardo.

They watched, shaking, as Viviana's wild, twisted face played across the screen.

Antonio left the cemetery and headed straight to the basement where Viviana was locked up.The place reeked—blood, damp air, pure rot.In the corner, Viviana lay crumpled, filthy, her clothes shredded and stained. Her limbs were bent wrong, wounds still oozing. His men had done exactly what he told them—keep her breathing, nothing more. She flinched at the sound of his steps. When she saw him, her eyes went wide with panic. Then she crawled to him, grabbed his leg, sobbing."Antonio! I messed up! I know I did! Please, let me go! I swear I'll never lie again—please, just this once!"Antonio looked down at her like she was dirt.He kicked her off, voice flat. "Bring me the whip."One of his guys handed it over—saltwater-soaked, brutal.Antonio took it without blinking. His eyes were dead."Viviana," he said, voice colder than a grave, "remember what you did to Emilia? How you made her suffer like hell?"He raised the whip and cracked it across her back.Viviana screamed, fold

Viviana froze. For a second, something smug flashed across her face—then poof, gone. She slapped on a fake grief act fast."What? Emilia's dead? That can't be..." Fake gasp, teary eyes, hand to her mouth. But Antonio caught it—that smug little smile. His gut twisted. He squeezed her throat. "Still faking?"She clawed at him, face flushed, eyes wild. But still no confession. "An...Antonio, w-what are you saying...I don't get it..."His eyes went stone cold. He squeezed harder. She thrashed, face blazing red, eyes full-on panic. He didn't stop until she was barely conscious.Viviana hit the floor, gasping, coughing like her lungs were on fire. Her eyes—pure fear, laced with hate."Why?" Antonio's voice dropped, low and deadly. "Why'd you do that to Emilia? She was your sister."She just lay there, panting, hair a mess, mascara running. Then she looked up—and grinned. "Why? Because I hated her."She was better than me at everything. She was supposed to stay an orphan. But no—

Emilia lay motionless, skin ghost-pale, the only color a streak of blood at her lips. The floor was drenched. The smell hit like a punch."Emilia!"Antonio's eyes blew wide. His legs gave out, dropping him to his knees. His hands shook as he hovered over her, searching for breath.Nothing. No pulse. No chance."No... no, this can't be..." His face drained of color. Then, like something snapped, he scooped her up and sprinted out. "Emilia! Don't do this! Wake up! I'll get you help—you'll be okay!"Downstairs, Riccardo and Francesca froze at the sight."Emilia? What—what happened?!"In the car, Antonio clutched her hand like he could pull her back with sheer will. "Emilia, please... I messed up. I never should've locked you in. Don't leave me like this..."His voice cracked, all guilt and panic. "You asked if I'd miss you if you died, right? I'm telling you—I would. I already do. I can't breathe without you..."But all he got back was silence.***At the hospital, the docto

When I came to, I was back in my hospital bed.Outside, Viviana's voice slipped through the door. "Antonio, I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened—maybe an allergic reaction or something."His voice cut like ice. "An allergic reaction? Viviana, what the hell were you thinking giving her untested meds? She's barely hanging on as it is!"Viviana's voice cracked. "I didn't mean for this to happen. I just wanted her to get better fast, be strong for the wedding. I didn't think she'd react like that..."Antonio let out a tired sigh. "Be more careful. She's too fragile for this. Don't screw up again."That was it?He let her off that easy? Not even a second opinion? If he brought in literally anyone else, he'd see—I'm actually dying. My chest burned with that ugly twist of betrayal. I shut my eyes as tears slid down. But even if he knew... what would it change? I'd still be gone. The door creaked open. Antonio stepped in.His face softened when he saw me awake. "Emilia, hey. Ho

No clue how long it went on.When it finally stopped, I was soaked, gasping like I'd nearly drowned.Viviana ripped the gauze out and tossed it like trash."Why?" I panted. "Viviana, what did I do? Why do you hate me?"She stared down, eyes cold. "I don't get why they even brought you back. You were already gone. Lost things should stay lost. And useless people? They shouldn't exist."She slammed the door. Her words echoed—'Stay lost... Useless...Shouldn't exist...'But I'm their real daughter. Was it my fault I was taken? Now I'm finally home, and I'm not even wanted?Everything spun. I blacked out.No clue how long passed before I heard her voice outside."Antonio, will you stay with me tonight?"Through the glass, I saw her wrap an arm around his neck, all flirty and fake.Antonio shoved her off. "I told you—I only love Emilia. She's it for me. We're getting married. Back off."He walked away without a glance.I stood frozen, head spinning. He says he loves me.S
