Mira came to school quite early again. She'd make sure that Arlan, that diligent boy had arrived in the college earlier to accompany her. Instead of being scared after almost falling off the stairs, Mira was dying to meet the culprit instead. The person only dared to make a sneak attack.

If it was a man, she'd chop off what had made him a man. And if that was a woman, she'd make sure that the person would never look like one anymore.

That just how angry she was.

Mira's cheek was flushed red in fury as she remembered her condition again. She'd not be able to play basketball for a while. Her body recovery was indeed better than most humans, yet it was nothing compared to the real werewolves.

As she walked through the hallway, Mira limped slightly. No matter how she tried to walk like a normal, she couldn't. It made her slightly missed her personal car-- Azarias.

"What happened to your feet?" The voice laced with concern entered Mira's ears. She looked up, expecting it to be Arlan. However, in an instant, her face turned into a scowl.

It turned out to be that prick, Jason. Why is this person approaching her now?

She ignored him and kept on walking.

For a split second, Mira caught the sight of his stunned face when she didn't respond to him and turned her head away. What an annoyingly confusing guy.

"Where's that punk?" Mira muttered under her breath.

He isn't trying to prank her, is he? Mira thought. However, it seemed less likely. Despite having that unreliable look, Arlan was actually one of the strongest werewolves out there. He just disliked being in trouble and avoid them as much as possible, though sometimes it was impossible. That guy's caring and protective nature could be felt by those he considered his friends.

The more Mira walked, the more she frowned. There were other footsteps behind her. A frown and irritation were written all over her face. She stopped, intending to give way to Jason so that he could pass first.

Jason also stopped, looking at her with confusion, until a moment later a look of realization struck him.

"Why are you stopping now?" Mira snapped. "Look, the path is wide open."

Come to think of it, Mira couldn't help but ponder about yesterday's matter. That hooded person had come for her intending to kill, though for some reason stopped halfway.

Is it one of her enemies? With her unyielding temper, she had offended quite a lot of people after all.

His gaze at her had turned colder somehow. "Your foot is hurt."

Mira frowned at him. "Yes, and then?"

"Let me accompany you to your class?" He said with a tone of annoyance.

Mira frowned. This guy was clearly annoyed, but why did he bother voluntarily offer help like this?

"No need." Mira shook her head. She tried to walk faster so that she could get away from Jason sooner.

Having an injured foot was indeed such an inconvenience. Inwardly, Mira cursed that person who had made her like this once again.

However, a sudden flash of notion appeared in her head. Could that person possibly be...

"Don't you act like this to gain my attention?" Jason's rough voice sounded in Mira's ears. Mira was stunned momentarily that her thoughts were cut off, her mind blank.

When she recovered her senses, the words uttered by Jason slowly sink in. Mira's eyes widened in disbelief. What the hell is wrong with this self-important, delusional guy?

Reminded that he almost turned into her supposed mate, Mira was horrified. She thanked the heavens that it didn't happen.

Mira's eyelid twitched, her mouth forming a sneer. "What a deluded person. A frog in well that has never seen the world outside."

Mira knew this type of guy a lot. Such a guy in denial and delusion, words alone won't be enough to slap him back to reality. She better just avoid him so that she can keep her sanity intact.

Mira could hear other footsteps approaching them followed by the voice of a man. The way he spoke and his mannerisms sounded like he was speaking to a superior. "Alpha Jason."

Another person stood beside him with slightly lackadaisical behavior.

Mira didn't even hide the displeasure written all over her face.

"Who is this?" The shorter man muttered as he eyed Mira rudely. "Boss, this one isn't your new girl, right? She seemed ... unique."

The man stroked his chin. His eyes scanned Mira's tomboyish look from head to toe.

Mira's expression turned dark.

"Dave, mind your manner." The other man rebuked him.

"I am merely asking." He shrugged.

Mira narrowed her eyes, memorizing the face of the one who had insulted her. She put on a calm mask, though she was clenching her fists, itching to teach him a lesson.

She admitted that she was a petty person. She'd surely get back at him.

If she had known that she's stumbled upon these hateful existences, she'd rather go to the campus together with Azarias. Azarias's door was locked this morning. She thought he was still sleeping. Due to her impatience, she chose to go alone.

"Don't speak nonsense." Jason frowned in discontent at the man's words.

The aura emanating from them was almost similar in power, causing Mira to frown. Which one is the second and third in power?

"Eh, isn't this the girl who dared to retaliate against Violetta? You are quite daring." The man chuckled. "Let me introduce myself, I am the third in command from Langton territory, Dave Williams."

Mira looked up to meet his eyes. She was startled, her pupil constricted. A moment later, she recovered her calmness.

She looked another way and walked away, completely ignoring them. She faintly felt some unpleasant aura from behind her, indicating that the person was annoyed, almost in a rage.

Mira had no good feeling to those people and she was not obliged to show them kindness. She would act however she wanted. Just like how those rumors about her being a bully had spread around since the Violetta incident. She bullied a bully, so she should be the bigger bully, right?

Rumors could dampen one's spirit, but it was different for Mira. She didn't care. She wasn't going to stay in this place for a long time anyway.

Mira and Azarias moved here three years ago. It was initially only her who was going, but Azarias was being persistent about it. Since her grandparents were also worried, they couldn't even wait to shove Azarias in her direction.

She had come from another territory, the bigger place where werewolves were much more scarce. She lived in a city, so it was to be expected. Werewolves were common and co-exist with humans here, yet the news of their existence wasn't as widely spread.

"Mir, what happened to your feet?" Arlan came with Josh, who couldn't even bear to part with his food when Arlan dragged him here.

Mira told them the truth. It would do her no good to keep the information for herself anyway.

"You can't sense the perpetrator?" Arlan frowned, falling into deep thought.

"Could it be the feral?" Josh asked worriedly. "It's good that you survived."

"The feral?" Mira put on a pondering expression. There weren't many that know about the existence of ferals here. After all, they had rarely appeared in the last hundred years. Thus, the ferals were forgotten.

Ferals were some kind of werewolves who had committed the heinous crime, resulting in the Moon Goddess's punishment. Losing the protection drove their wolf counterpart insane.

"It's possible." Arlan nodded, looking at Mira's feet with concern.

"Don't look at me like that. It's not that bad." Mira grumbled. They were acting the same as Azarias sometimes.

"It's been ages since feral appeared." A voice suddenly chimed in. "It's hard to be sure."

Mira's expression faltered upon seeing Erwin. She had been too lost in thought that she hadn't noticed his presence.

Erwin's gaze trained to her foot. "It seems that the bruise had gotten so much better. If you don't move around too much, three days would be enough for a full recovery."

Mira raised her eyebrow. Arlan and Josh looked at Erwin in alarm. Josh walked forward, his hand almost grabbing Erwin's collar if not for Arlan holding him back. "Who are you?"

Arlan and Josh were the only ones who knew about Mira's inhuman speed of recovery besides Azarias in this place. The four of them had spent some years together before Arlan and Josh moved earlier to this kind of environment fitting for werewolves; the vast forest.

Mira frowned. The more she looked at this guy, the more irritated she became. She failed to guess his true intention, soured her mood further.

Let's provoke him a bit, she thought.

"Don't fight." Mira walked to Josh and slapped his shoulder. "He was the one helping me yesterday. He accidentally found out about my condition."

Josh looked suspiciously at that small frame. His eyes darted back and forth between Arlan and Erwin. Irritated, Arlan pulled his ear, making Josh wince. This brat was comparing their figures.

"Helping you? With those arms don't look like they are capable of lifting a twig?"

Mira sighed, feeling a headache coming. What a blockhead. Just how did she become friends with him in the past?

It was some kind of tradition among werewolves that their way of solving things always use fists. Whoever got the harder fist won. Fight to death was also allowed.

"Yes. Now, let's go." Mira said, shoving the two away. Arlan got the hint and dragged Josh away, who was giving Erwin a doubtful look. Mira didn't want to see Josh recklessly challenging Erwin.

Erwin raised his eyebrow. He could also faintly feel a murderous and hostile aura from far away directed at him. When he looked up, he was greeted by the sight of a boy in glasses frowning at him. His pupils contracted at that.

At the same time, Mira passed by Erwin. She whispered in his ear. "You are such a two-faced guy."

She gave him a sweet smile and walked away toward Azarias.

  • The Girl Who Refuses an Alpha   Chapter 32

Mira felt like her heart stopped for a moment, her mind and body froze as she stared ahead. The sudden explosion was like the cold water pouring down her head, a slap to reality. The dust, branches, soil, and pebbles flying randomly caused it to be hard to see what happened. Mira frantically looked around, searching for Arlan's figure amidst the chaos. Dave's thunderous roar made her heart sink. It was full of fury, and Mira knew well who was the cause of it. He had the hold of Arlan's life in his grasp. The dust hadn't settled, but Mira suddenly had an inkling from the faint connection of the Goddess's blessing. Without caring about the curse inflicting her body, Mira trudged to the source. "Let's go together." Azarias's voice sounded in her ear, and the next moment, the painful feeling from the aftershocks of the explosion was warded off. She numbly stayed in Azarias's embrace until less than a minute later, they arrived at the scene. The wa

The pained expression of the person inside was akin to a needle piercing Mira's heart. After all, he wasn't just anyone. Mira had regarded Arlan as her brother. She tried to stand up, looking at the figure in the coffin.Dave was using space magic to conceal Arlan's existence all this time. He brought him out when he realized that things had gone south. Now, the coffin was hovering vertically beside Dave, making sure that Mira could see Arlan's expression clearly. He did it on purpose."Let go of him." Her voice turned hoarse as she faced Dave, who only rolled his eyes."Do you think I am that stupid? Once I let go of him, I will be dead. That demon won't let go of me." Dave pointed at Azarias. "Demons are known as bloodthirsty creatures. Once they set their target, they will follow it until the very end."Dave had pre

Mira managed to stop herself before her body slammed into the wall. She took a deep breath and calmed her erratic heart. It was dangerous just now. Luckily, the force seemed to be less than one she had faced before. It was a sign that the warlock's power was weakening. Mira's body bent down slightly from the inertia. She looked up, and her pupils constricted. After a moment, she was back to being expressionless."Mirabella Forest, you are such a fool." The voice sounded rough, like dry branches brushed against each other.Mira said nothing, only coldly observing the person in front of her."It's such a pity that you are not dead." Red lines began to appear on Dave's face. He looked horrifying. Half of his face cracked, revealing a rotten wound. The skin on his body was patched in grey, dry color. Those were the effect of those black crystals Mira had thrown on him."You are the one asking that girl to buy the black crystals from me." Mira re
