I felt a sudden wave of heat, like I'm on fire. My blood boils as I sweat profusely. A loud groan filled my head. Her eyes shone the vibrant gold. Dark strands of red weigh down to her thin waist. The woman is weeping.
Slowly, the light in her golden orbs disappear; her eyes covered by darkness. And all I felt was the coldness. Her pulse weakened and I could feel my lungs tightening.
“You did nothing wrong.” A soft, mellow voice whispered.
I was gasping for air.
It's always the bright sunlight that wakes me up in the morning or sometimes, it's a vampire. In today's case, it's none other than Izaac.
His voice woke me, “You okay?”
I sat up and my back hit the tree. “Yeah.”
I held my forehead and wiped tiny bullets of sweat. My, what a nightmare! It looked real. The voice felt like a lullaby to keep me asleep.
“Do you fall asleep out in the woods as a hobby? Is it fun? I must try it sometimes.” That smile I want to rip off of his face. It seems as if whenever he sees me, that half smile is always visible. I'm thinking its only purpose is to annoy the hell out of me.
Glaring at him will just make my head hurt so I chose to ignore him. I got up from my sleeping position and hastily dusted off my shorts from the soil. He was right. I fell asleep here at the back of the castle.
“What is that?” I turned to Izaac who was looking down at my shorts.
I glanced over at my thigh. My brows knotted, clueless of the scar on my thigh. It wasn't there yesterday in the shower. It's a huge bite mark and it looked as if it just healed.
“Fuck,” He muttered to himself. Izaac looked behind me. The gate was bent and severely damaged. As if a huge stone burst it open. But that wasn't important now because there lies a dead wolf just a couple steps away from us. Its position is pointed at the forest, as if it were heading there. Its fur is black and tainted with blood. Almost at some of its parts the blood has dried up, on its ears and neck mostly. However, the blood pooling on its half opened mouth is still fresh and black.
Memories from last night gushed at me like a running river. Blurry glimpses of the beast flashed in my mind like lightning. Those glowing eyes that are of a killer sent shivers down my spine. I saw it. I saw how its teeth pierced through my flesh. I stumbled backwards, my mind running of many thoughts.
Izaac examined the beast. His nose slightly moved towards the blood pool, taking its scent. Izaac clenched his jaw, his eyes darkening.
"What is it?"
"It’s been poisoned." He replied curtly.
A hiss escaped his mouth when he touched the dark blood. The skin of his finger turned into a deep shade of red, almost as if it's heated.
"The blood. It's holy."
"What?" I'm utterly confused and he won't give me complete answers.
He remained silent as he continued to observe. What shocked me the most is when Izaac ripped the beast open from its parted mouth. The smell of seared flesh invaded our nostrils. God, it smells awful. Like a decayed body.
I took a step back, keeping my distance from the dreadful stench.
"It's burned from the inside." I mumbled, holding my breath. The scene before me is horrid. It's like a bomb just exploded inside it causing the organs to break into pieces; the blood is all slimy and dark.
"Get Ambrose." Izaac ordered
As he said, I went back inside and called Ambrose. Everyone gathered outside at the back of the castle.
"It's a rogue." Sage answered. He sat across the beast, eyeing the nasty thing.
"It must have followed Feyre's scent." Ambrose spoke and looked at me.
"First, take the body in the basement. I will take a look at it." Ambrose ordered and walked away.
All the boys stared at one another, waiting for someone to step up and carry the smelly creature.
"You were the one who ripped it open, you go carry it." Daniel said to Izaac.
"You came here last. Carry the damn thing, Sage." Izaac said
"What? No!"
"Now!" Ambrose shouted, he's just a few meters away and he's headed inside.
In the end, Gideon carried the beast for the reason that he stole an extra blood pack last week. Yeah, they're kids. What could I do?
I followed them down the basement. There were stairs that led us down the castle. A ghastly stench welcomed us as we took the last few steps. It looked ancient, like a dungeon that they turned into some kind of laboratory. I was right. Inside the cells were skulls and skeletons. The green water splashed when a rat strode from nowhere. The soles of my shoes were now wet and dirty. I'm thinking this room isn't one of their favorites because of the disgusted look on their faces. Ambrose on the other hand remained focused and emotionless. He must've been used to the odor here.
"Lay it here." Ambrose pointed at the metal bed. Gideon nodded and did what he was told.
Ambrose furrowed his brow, "This blood cannot be touched by demons." He looked at me, bewildered.
"What exactly happened last night?" He asked, his voice thunderous and in need of immediate answers.
I looked down at the beast, those eyes now shut and lifeless.
"I was out for a quick stroll around the castle. When I reached the back castle, I saw it. The beast attacked me and bit my thigh. I couldn't ask for help since its teeth were buried on my skin. It was strong but I managed to kick it away. Then I passed out." I explained, my lips trembling.
Ambrose nodded, staring at the beast.
"This wolf was undoubtedly poisoned."
Everyone in the room has this strong expression. Eyebrows knotted and their teeth gritted. They're probably wondering who the murderer is.
Izaac turned his head at me. He wasn't glaring or anything. He just stood there with this spark of interest in those green eyes.
"I didn't poison it. I don’t understand." I was lost for words. It's like Izaac thinks of me as the murder suspect and it's nerve wrecking as hell. I bit the inside of my cheek.
"Your blood. It's lethal to all demons. One drop of your blood can kill any darkly creatures. Now the question is, how is that possible? I've never encountered something like this before." Ambrose stated, his eyes pierced through me with curiosity.
"What are you, Feyre?"
All eyes darted at me.
It was early in the cold morning. The ballroom is packed with tables and chairs as well as food and wine, not to mention a huge jar of blood for the vampire guests. The servants are everywhere in the castle with trays of something in their hands. “Rosamund, wake up.” I said softly, brushing a finger on her cheek. Her eyes opened instantly, “It’s time, isn’t it?” “Happy birthday, my sweet rose.” I smiled “Thank you, mother.” She sat up and hugged me tightly. I helped her get ready for the day. She went to the tub for a relaxing dip. I scattered rose petals in her bath as well seeing she also likes r
The moment we stepped foot outside the dungeon, I sighed in relief. It was suffocating there and I could barely breathe. Cassius placed a hand on my back as we walked back to our chamber.“You haven’t told me,” I bit the inside of my cheek. I may be a bit nosy to ask this but I needed to know.“Told you what?” He didn’t even glance at me. He knew what I was talking about but he won’t say a thing about it.“About what happened between you and Ambrose,” The moment those words escaped my lips, I saw a flash of displeasure in his emerald eyes. His lips pursed as his jaw moved.“Ambrose was myhalf brother. We
“But you have no control yet,” He said with a warning tone.I simply ignored him and made my way down the stairs towards the dungeon. My heels clacking against the stone ground. I wore a strapped, pale green maxi dress that was cut just above my ankles.I hear Cassius follow behind me. According to him, the dungeon is located at the very bottom of the castle and there are about six floors. The dungeon is hidden and no one knows about it except for the royal family and some few servants that guard the place. The castle dungeon only imprisoned selected people. While on the other hand, there is also another dungeon located at the east but that is a place for all criminals aroundSyrr.
The sky is almost dark, only the shades of orange and pink can be seen. The moon is out already. Vienna and I got back to the castle walking side by side. We would not want to be late for dinner. The Queen is strict when it comes to dinner and no one wants to anger the Queen ofSyrr. The huge double doors to the dining hall busted open as soon as the servant saw us. The long table is a feast as usual. The King is also present tonight. Cassius tapped the seat next to him and smiled at me.Vienna walked to the seat next to Rose while I sat next to Cassius. After a while we started eating in silence. I guess I can say that I’m used to it, the awkward silence in the room while we eat. I figured they just eat that way. Cassius told me it’s a sign of disrespect if we eat while talking.
“Cassius!” I groaned as I pulled my body out of his arms. I stood up with the sheets wrapped around me. I walked to his closet and picked a fresh set of clothing.“Come back to bed,” Cassius' soft tone made me smirk. This man, really! He’s insatiable. We’ve been up all night and now he can’t get his hands off of me.“I have somewhere else to be and I already told you that,” Once I’ve finished changing, I grab the hair brush to fix my hair.“Where? Is it important?” He leaned back on the headboard, only his lower body being covered by white sheets. Now his torso is exposed I can’t help but to take a quick glance at his ripped abs.&nb
“So where do you want to go next?” He asked, staring at me with his pretty emeralds.I pressed my lip, “Hm, I don’t know. Since we went to myfavoriteplace, maybe we can go to yourfavoriteplace. Do you have afavoriteplace?”“Should we go to mylakehouse?”My eyes widened, “You have alakehouse?”He nodded, “I do, it was a gift from my father when I was little. Vienna and Damon used to accompany me here during the summer. Vee would lie to my father telling him that we’ll be training by the lake but we’ll most likely be bathing.” He chuckled to himsel
