Bernard POV

I felt my face burning with shame as we walked out of the restaurant. Every single person in that place had been staring at us, recording with their phones, and I knew by tomorrow morning the videos would be all over social media. The humiliation was eating me alive from the inside out.

The valet brought my beat-up Honda around, and I could see him trying not to laugh as we climbed into the cheap car. After sitting in that fancy restaurant surrounded by Mercedes and BMWs, my old Honda looked like a piece of junk. Everything about tonight had been designed to make me look small and pathetic.

"This is all your fault," my mother said from the passenger seat as I pulled out of the parking lot. "If you had controlled your wife properly from the beginning, none of this would have happened."

"How was I supposed to know she would completely lose her mind?" I snapped back, my hands gripping the steering wheel so tight my knuckles were white. "Yesterday she was the same boring hou

Vanya POV"A reporter?" I asked Marcus, my heart sinking. "What kind of story are they planning to run?""They're claiming you're involved in some kind of scandal," Marcus said over the phone. "Someone has been feeding them lies about how you got your money and your relationship with Richmond. We need to meet tomorrow morning to discuss how to handle this."After I hung up, Richmond looked at me with concern. "Are you okay?""Someone is trying to destroy my reputation," I said, feeling frustrated and scared. "But I don't understand why reporters would be interested in my personal life.""Don't worry," Richmond said firmly. "We'll figure this out together. No one is going to hurt you while I'm around."His protective tone made me feel safer, but I couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to get much worse before they got better. That was yesterday. Today, I was standing in the Sacramento Art Gallery, surrounded by my first jewelry exhibition. I had worked for two weeks straig

Richmond POVI sat in Vanya's living room, watching her sketch jewelry designs with the concentration of a master artist, and I felt my heart swell with an emotion I had never experienced before. The way her face lit up when she drew, the careful attention she paid to every line and curve, the passion that radiated from her as she explained each piece - it was beautiful to witness. She had no idea that the man sitting across from her owned jewelry stores, manufacturing facilities, and distribution networks that could turn her dreams into reality overnight. But I couldn't tell her that. Not yet. If she knew who I really was, would she still look at me with the same warmth and trust? Would she still share her hopes and fears with me like she did now?"What do you think of this one?" she asked, turning her sketch pad toward me. The drawing showed an elegant bracelet that looked like it was made of intertwined vines, with small gems scattered like flowers along its length."It's incredib

Vanya POVI sat at the beautiful wooden desk in my home office, surrounded by sketch pads, colored pencils, and jewelry design books that I had bought that morning. For the first time in five years, I was drawing again. Really drawing. Not just doodling on grocery lists or sketching ideas that I would hide from Bernard, but actually creating jewelry designs with purpose and passion. The police investigation had turned out to be a false alarm. When I went to the station, Detective Martinez explained that they had received anonymous tips about my finances, but after my longtime friend Marcus provided them with legal documentation showing my financial status was legitimate, they quickly determined that all the accusations were baseless. They even apologized for the inconvenience and suggested I might want to consider filing harassment charges against whoever was spreading lies about me.Marcus had been such a blessing through all of this. We'd been friends since childhood, and when I nee

Bernard POVI was pacing around my hotel room like a caged animal, waiting for Tony to call me back with his investigation report. It had been a week since I hired him to follow Vanya and dig up dirt on her new lifestyle, and I was desperate for answers that would prove she was involved in something illegal. My phone finally rang, and I grabbed it before the first ring finished."Tony, please tell me you have something good for me," I said immediately."Bernard, we need to talk," Tony said, and something in his voice made my stomach drop. "But not over the phone. Can you meet me at my office in an hour?""Just tell me what you found," I said impatiently. "Is she prostituting herself? Drug dealing? What is it?""It's not what you think," Tony said carefully. "Just come to my office. You're going to want to sit down when you hear this."The drive to Tony's office felt like it took forever. My mind was racing with possibilities. Maybe Vanya was involved in some kind of money laundering s

Tracy POVI couldn't stop thinking about that man Richmond. Three days had passed since the restaurant confrontation, and his image was burned into my brain like a puzzle I couldn't solve. Something about him was seriously wrong, and it was driving me crazy that I couldn't figure out what it was.I sat in my hotel room with my laptop open, scrolling through every social media post and news article I could find about that night. The videos of our fight were everywhere, and people were talking about it all over Sacramento. But what bothered me most was how many comments were praising Vanya and calling her brave while painting Bernard and me as the villains."Look at this," I said to Bernard, who was lying on the bed watching TV. "Someone posted a close-up video of your ex-wife's boyfriend, and look at the comments."Bernard came over to look at my laptop screen. The video showed Richmond's face clearly as he stood beside Vanya during our confrontation."What am I supposed to be looking

Vanya POV"Richmond," I said after hanging up from my lawyer's call, my voice shaking, "that was my lawyer Marcus. He says there's been some complication with an inheritance I apparently have. Something about legal challenges and investigations that could affect everything."Richmond's expression became serious. "What kind of complications?""He wasn't specific over the phone, but he wants to meet with me tomorrow morning," I said, feeling confused and worried. "I don't understand any of this. I never knew I had any inheritance coming to me.""It'll be okay," Richmond said, taking my hand. "Whatever it is, we'll figure it out together."But even as he said the comforting words, I could see something troubled in his eyes. His phone had been buzzing with messages during our entire walk, and I could tell whatever was happening at his "work" was serious."You should probably get going," I said, noticing him glance at his phone again. "It sounds like your boss really needs you.""I'm sorry
