Melora leaned lazily on a bench at the Sea God's Estate.

She played with a string of deep-sea pearls.

Zale put them on her himself last night.

Every pearl glowed with the blue light of the sea.

"Perfect." She touched her necklace. A smug smile grew on her lips.

Kressa's temple, Kressa's wealth, Kressa's husband and son. They were all hers now.

Suddenly, the estate doors were kicked open.

A towering, grotesque Harpy with the wings of a vulture stormed in.

The sunset at the Mortal Coast was beautiful.Selene held a bouquet of sea-nymph flowers and a bottle of divine wine. She walked quietly to a simple monument.Carved into the stone was her name, and above it, her sigil: a single, blooming Helianthus, forever turning its face to the light."Kressa, I'm here again." Selene said softly. She placed the flowers down. She did this every month. She had kept it up for four years. She sat down and opened the wine. She poured two cups. One for Kressa, one for herself."I have a lot to tell you today." Selene looked at the sunset. Her voice was calm. "About the people who betrayed you. They all got what they deserved."The sea breeze brushed her cheek. It felt like Kressa was listening."Your mother Hecate jumped into the River Styx and killed herself." Selene's voice had no ripples. "She wanted to find your soul. But the Underworld God told her you never wanted to see them again. She went totally crazy after hearing that.""Your father Artemis l

Two years passed.Zale stood in the temple of the Sea God's Estate. He stared at Kressa's statue. He built it after she died. He used the rarest moonstone to carve it.Kressa smiled gently in the statue. Just like how she used to look at him."Kressa..." Zale reached out. He wanted to touch her cheek. But his fingers shook in the air and pulled back. The pain of losing her crushed him like deep ocean pressure. He couldn't breathe.Every day, every night, her death tortured him."Father." A cold voice came from behind.Zale turned around. He saw sixteen-year-old Philon. The once happy child now only had hatred and disgust in his eyes."What are you doing here?" Philon's voice was like ice blades. "Still playing the grieving husband? For the wife you murdered?""Philon..." Zale choked. "I know you hate me, but...""Hate you?" Philon sneered. "I hate you, and I hate myself!"He could never forget. He happily called Melora "Mom" right in front of his real mother. That guilt turned into ext

Only the biting cold wind answered Melora.Zale paused his steps. But he didn't look back. The High Priests held each other. They stumbled into the dark night. They all knew Melora was right. She wasn't the only one who killed Kressa.Melora sat freezing on the steps. Her magicless body shivered in the wind. Her hair was a mess. Her eyes were empty. The innocent look was gone forever.Selene stood in the temple's shadows. She watched it all coldly.Moonlight shone on her face, reflecting her indifference. But when she looked down at the fading scroll in her hand, her eyes turned red.The parchment turned into golden light and vanished in the wind. Just like how Kressa turned into stardust.Selene clenched her fists tightly. Her nails dug into her palms. She remembered meeting Kressa five years ago.The gentle girl held her hands. Her eyes were full of hope for the future."Selene, I'm marrying Zale!" She smiled like the stars. "I'll be so happy!"Selene strongly opposed the marriage ba

Artemis smashed his staff onto the floor. He roared at the ceiling in grief:"I welcomed a viper into my home! I murdered my own child!"His voice broke. "Kressa! My Kressa! I didn't even see her one last time!"The old priest fell to his knees. He beat his chest and sobbed.Zale stared blankly at the scroll in Selene's hand."Kressa... who did she give her divine power to?" His voice was dry like dead grass."To the poor believers in the mortal realm." Selene said coldly. "She wanted her power to help those who truly need it."Zale's heart was cut open.In the will, Kressa planned perfectly for the mortal believers. Warm and kind as always. But she didn't write a single word about him or Philon.Until her death, she never forgave them."No, no, no! This isn't real!" Melora felt freezing cold. She knelt and hugged Artemis's leg tightly. "Dad! Don't listen to her! Kressa set me up!""You know she was always jealous of me! She made these fake illusions!"Hecate looked at Melora's lying f

Zale drank heavily in the estate cKressar. Three whole days passed.Empty bottles covered the floor. He had a messy beard and empty eyes.Kressa was dead. His wife, his mate. She turned into stardust and vanished. And he was one of her killers.A cold magic message suddenly popped in the air."Zale. Tomorrow at noon. Temple of Nemesis. Kressa's will reading."Selene's voice was like ice. It had no warmth.Zale stood up, shaking. He stumbled out of the cKressar.Next day at noon, four people stood outside the Temple of Nemesis.Zale looked pale as a ghost. The High Priests held each other, their eyes full of despair.Melora wrung her hands nervously. Her heart pounded. The temple doors slowly opened. Selene walked out from the shadows. She wore a black robe. Her face was cold. She glared at them."Come in." Her voice held no emotion. They walked inside. Black candles lit the temple. The air felt suffocating."I called you here to read Kressa's will." Selene stood at the altar. She held

Zale's legs gave out. He fell onto the marble steps."Life thread severed..." he mumbled. "Impossible. Kressa can't be dead..."The broken gold thread glowed faintly in his hand. Every speck of light felt like a curse on his sins."How did she die?" Hecate asked, trembling. "Did a monster kill her?"The Goddess of Fate shook her head."The final throes of the Tartarus Death Curse. Her soul was consumed by its fire, leaving nothing but stardust." Her voice had no emotion. "Her chosen representative will contact the family in three days for the funeral."Boom!Hecate's mind went blank. The final throes of the Tartarus Death Curse! She remembered Kressa in the hall. Coughing up black ash, barely able to stand. And she had covered her own nose in disgust! She called Kressa "bad luck"!She accused Kressa of faking it for pity!"No, no, no!" Hecate shook her head wildly. "My daughter. My Kressa..."She remembered Kressa's last question: "If my soul shatters to pieces, will you feel a moment'
