Syria’s POV

“I’ll be gone for a while, Syria. Make sure while I’m away, don’t do anything that goes against my rules,” Uncle said to me. It was the first thing he told me the next morning.

I just stood there, nodding, trying not to show any expression. I figured the day would be quiet, especially since I had already driven Novene away. I thought I’d finally get some peace.

I was wrong.

The moment Uncle left the house, the silence was short-lived. Someone banged on the door. Loud and aggressive, like they had every right to barge in. Even though it had only been minutes since Uncle walked out, someone was already at my door.
