The healers did what they could to get her stabilised, now all we could do was wait and hope that it was enough. I checked on her at intervals but she was still unconscious.

She looked so thin and pale—fragile under the thick blanket. Her chest barely moved, I found myself placing a finger underneath her nose to check that she was still breathing.

Nyra stirred within me as I watched her.

‘She’s may not be what she seems,’ she whispered, quiet and cautious.

‘I know,’ I whispered back. ‘But she’s just a girl.’ I saw too much of myself in her, maybe that was why I was so bent on helping her

It was just dawn when I heard a soft gasp cut through the stillness.

I shifted in my seat and turned quickly. Her eyes—bright green, almost unnaturally vivid—were wide with confusion and fear. She tried to sit up but instead fell back with a groan.

“Hey,” I said gently, stepping to her side. “Don't try to get up yet, you're healing pretty slowly. The healers said you had wolfsbane in your system”

She
