That night I was certain of one thing, I wouldn’t be dreaming of him.

Because Cael… was already here.

Under the same roof. Breathing the same air. A ghost made flesh. A dream turned into something far too real, too complicated.

He was just downstairs, probably wondering why I hadn’t come to see him yet.

I couldn’t. Despite all the questions I had.

My chest felt heavy with the weight of it all. Too much. Too soon.

I sat down on the edge of the bed with my knees cradled to my chest.

Then quietly, I whispered, “Moon Goddess, I need you.”

I waited. Eyes closed. Breathing steady.

Silence.

“Please,” I said again, softer. “Tell me what this is. What he is. Why I feel… this. Why now?”

Nothing. Not even the usual shift of energy that hinted she might be listening.

Just silence.

I laughed bitterly under my breath. “Of course.”

The quiet pressed heavier against me. Then—

“She hears you.”

I jolted. My breath caught. That voice wasn’t hers.
