Max had been surprised the entire night. Everybody had been on their best behavior when they actually saw Deanna standing next to him. And then of course the two kids. Henny was smiling like there was no tomorrow because she knew that he had finally gotten what he always wanted. Mac kept smiling too but it was for a different reason and Max knew that as well. This was definitely going to be one of those things that they were going to have to do frequently enough that Deanna needed to feel comfortable around them. He didn't actually believe that couples should have too many friends that were not other couples. He was kind of old fashioned in the way that he thought. She could have as many friends as she wanted that was perfectly fine but they would probably spend more time with other couples. It just seemed not to cause as many problems in any relationship. Max stop Deanna and the kids off at the university and then he went to the Academy. He knew that it wasn't going to take very long for him to go over everything. When he did get there he was ushered into their conference room and he passed out the folders to the three Deans of the different academies. The next few days Max was completely engrossed in going over the course from the beginning to the end. He had already rewritten at once and now he was going to make it more specific period he was already looking up case files and everything else that he could possibly do to get everything completely set. Chapter 1The basement office was starting to get to him. He looked around and wondered if this was his life now as he could smell the dankness with the musty scent that was in the hallways as well. He was one of the best the newspapers had called him. They had said he was the one to get the case closed. That was how his supervisors had put out the call to every station in the country. He watched her from his spot against the building until she walked away from the field. He sighed with the loss of her being close but not that close. He had to wonder what she was actually doing there at night. He turned his wrist to look at the time. It wasn't that late, but it was dark. He wanted to go after her though he knew he couldn't. As he got to his office at the university, he was really feeling it everywhere on how he was exhausted. He didn't want to do anything as he sat in the teacher's parking lot near the building he worked at. That was one of the only perks of the job. The other was he was getting really good at finding the right combo of pain relievers to get rid of headaches. The younger people seemed to bring them on in droves. He enjoyed working on a mostly unsolvable case much more, and the headaches often were fixed the minute he put the puzzle together.
