Chapter 41 Your Grandmother Looks Familiar

Aвтор: Night Eleven
"Don't pry," Landon reprimanded Solo with a low murmur. Even when delivering a stern admonishment, Landon retained his handsome demeanor.

Georgina wheeled herself to them, addressing Landon and the others, "It's the first time Aria has brought friends to the clinic. You guys have fun. There's coffee prepared in the courtyard. Those who have slow digestion should take more of them. I'll go buy some shrimp to cook for all of you."

Georgina's keen eye detected an air of privilege around these young men. Perhaps they weren't even friends, but intuition told her not to pry. What mattered most was that Aria had finally brought people home.

After all, Aria had never been fond of the clinic. She used to complain that lingering there too long made her smell of traditional medicine, inviting mockery from her peers and making it difficult for her to fit in. Consequently, she would never stay for dinner.

Whenever Aria visited her Georgina, she had to do so covertly, lest Karen berate her.

After Aria said those words, the atmosphere instantly got tense. Even the woman standing nearby held her breath. Audrey's face changed. "Is it..." "That's right." Aria's voice was calm. "Joy and wealth will always find you. You'll succeed in anything you do." Aria's dramatic pause had scared the hell out of Audrey. "Oh, that's what you meant. I thought..." Aria's dark eyes sparkled. "Just wanted to give you a little thrill ride, Mrs. Keating. I hope you don't mind." "Not at all." Audrey smiled warmly. "Good news is worth the wait. I hope it's like you said—wealth and success all around." Audrey turned to the woman beside them. "Ms Beckman, you should get a reading too." Michelle Beckman nodded and looked at Aria. "Actually, I wanted to ask about my son's love life. He's not getting any younger, but he still hasn't found a girlfriend." "I'm not Cupid. People make their own fate." Aria looked away and started to leave, but Michelle grabbed her quickly. "Please, Ms. Carv

Aria had to keep her character consistent. She pretended as if she was only helping because Charlotte seemed interesting, not because she was trying to get close. Without hesitation, Charlotte said, "Forget 10,000 dollars—I'll pay 50,000 dollars if you can solve what's troubling me." "It's not about money." Aria looked up slightly. "I have my rules. Each person gets one reading per day. Like they say, revealing too much of heaven's secrets will take a toll on me." "I understand." Charlotte nodded quickly. "Ms. Carver, how about this—I'll book you for the next few weeks. I'll transfer you 100,000 dollars. Would that work?" Aria pretended to think about it. "Fine. Since you're so sincere, I'll cancel my other clients. But only for five days. After that, I'm leaving town." Charlotte lit up. "Perfect! Are you free right now? I'd love to introduce you to my friends. They're all into this stuff too." "Sure." Aria looked up at her. "When?" "Right now!" Charlotte stood up. "My ca

Diana looked up at Aria. "I'll do it." Aria paused. "But I haven't even told you what—" "That doesn't matter." Diana's face softened. "If I can help, I will. I'd do it gladly even if it kills me." Aria kept her face neutral. "It's nothing that dramatic. Remember when you told me about blackmailing those smugglers? Did you notice anything else going on? Like what's happening at the port?" "The port?" Diana thought for a moment. "I've lived here a long time, but I don't hang around the port much. Though I did hear something recently—the customs chief's wife showed up and made a huge scene." "Made a scene?" Aria's eyes sharpened. "Tell me everything." Diana looked up, trying to remember. "This is just what I heard, but apparently, his wife came to the port and kept demanding to see him. Nobody could stop her—or even dared to. Some people overheard her saying that if he ever betrayed her, she'd expose everything he'd done and make sure everyone went down with him. "I mean, it

"You!" Sam's eyes went wide. "That's so mean!" A smile played on Landon's lips. "So, are you going or not?" "Fine, whatever." Sam's shoulders drooped as he dragged himself inside. Once Sam was gone, Landon stood and walked outside. Talon had already shifted to human form and was standing nearby. When he saw Landon coming, he hurried over. "Sir." Landon looked at Talon. "Did you get them?" Talon reached into his pocket and pulled out some candies. "Here are the sweets you wanted." Landon took the candies and didn't bother hiding his smile. He knew Aria had a sweet tooth, but she hadn't had any candy since they got to Portfall. So he'd asked Talon to bring back her favorites. Landon felt the candies in his hands. "What'd you find out?" Talon's voice went serious. "Sir, I've been tracking down what you lost all those years ago. It might be connected to that sacred relic you mentioned." Landon kept his voice flat. "So you think the sacred relic's tied to me?" "Yeah.

Aria didn't respond to Landon. She just turned over and stayed asleep. Landon couldn't help smiling. He reached over and adjusted the blanket so it covered her more effectively. Looking at her face, he found himself reaching out without thinking, just barely touching her cheek. Her skin was impossibly soft and smooth. He even felt like biting it. After a moment, he turned and quietly left the room. Sam came back and started playing with the guide dog, grinning from ear to ear. "Hey, he's such a good doggy." The guide dog followed Sam everywhere he went. He'd stop now and then to feed it a bite of something, then they'd go back to wandering around together. As Landon watched them, his eyes grew darker. Sam had gotten to Portfall before they did, and he'd learned to talk while he was here. Landon knew the real reason why that happened. It wasn't just because someone taught him. The consciousness buried in his mind was beginning to awaken. Anyone who had been Chaos knew

Landon followed Aria's gaze and saw something. "That's a bronze stallion from the Mashern Era." Aria gave a small nod. "And there are still traces of draconic fortune clinging to it." She could not believe there was an artifact from the Mashern Era here. After all this time, it carried more than just ancient history. It held the wisdom of people who'd lived centuries ago. "Drakonic fortune..." Landon's voice was soft. "Someone's supposed to pick these up here, then ship them all to Sylas. He'll drain the energy off these items and send them back." Aria looked away from the artifact. "Shall we catch them red-handed?" "Good idea." Landon sounded calm. "But honestly, they're just some small fry." Aria turned to face the leader. "How do you usually hand these things off?" "We don't hand them off." The leader's voice was heavy. "The boss tells us where to drop them. We just unload and leave." Aria's eyes darkened after hearing that. "Where do you drop them?" The man answer
