Chapter 38: Gunfire and Ultimatums

**Lucas’ POV**

“Cover me, Damon!”

The sound of gunfire crackled through my headset, bullets raining across the war-torn screen in a shower of digital chaos. I pressed harder into the controller, ducking behind a crumbling wall before lobbing a grenade into the alley where the enemy squad was hiding.

“Got them!” I barked, watching three silhouettes collapse in a fiery burst.

“Nice shot,” Damonn’s voice came through, calm but amused as ever. He didn’t get excited easily. “But you’re still terrible at covering your flank. Left side, Lucas!”

I cursed and swung my aim, catching a sniper perched on the rooftop. “I don’t need covering,” I muttered.

“Sure,” Damon said smoothly, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “That’s why you’ve died twelve times already tonight.”

I smirked despite myself, the familiar rhythm of our banter easing the tension in my chest. This was our ritual, midnight Call of Duty matches, hours spent strategizing and gunning down digi

Chapter 42: Bitter Errand **Lily’s POV** Last night was fire. The kind of fire that burned straight through bone and refused to be tamed. Ray had been wild, unrelenting. My brother — my forbidden, insatiable brother — had filled me in ways I didn’t even know I craved until him. His cock was huge, punishing, delicious. He knew every inch of my body now, knew how to break me apart and stitch me back together with nothing but his hands and his filthy mouth. And God … I wanted more. Even now, as I stood in the hallway dressed in a silk blouse that screamed sophistication, my body still hummed from his touch. Every nerve remembered. Every muscle begged for a repeat. But I had to rein it in. Lucas was supposed to be the goal. The prize. The husband that secured everything for me… the inheritance, the Bristo empire, the prestige. He was the one I had to dazzle, seduce, and bind to me in marriage. And yet… a sick part of me doubted. What if Lucas wasn’t like Ray? What if he was cold,

  • The Heiress Returns: Reclaiming My Legacy   Chapter 41: Behind Closed Doors

Chapter 41: Behind Closed Doors**Hannah’s POV**I sprawled across my bed, face down in a pile of pillows, laptop balanced dangerously close to slipping off the blanket. Piper had sworn by this K-drama, practically shoved her phone in my face last week telling me: “You’ll love it. Business Proposal. Trust me, it’ll ruin your life in a good way.”So, here I was distracted, and committed, snorting at the ridiculousness of the female main lead eating ramyeon like the world was ending. The male main lead asking her to re-do her cooking proposals again and again. The language alone was funny, he kept saying “dashi” which means ‘again’ frustrating the female main lead. I laughed out loud at different very funny scenes. And it felt good. Like tiny cracks of sunlight breaking through the storm clouds of the week. I wasn’t thinking about Jack dragging me on stage. I wasn’t thinking about Lucas and his maddening arrogance. I wasn’t thinking about Lily’s conniving smirks. Just noodles, and roman

Chapter 40: Midnight Intrusions**Ray’s POV**It was midnight, and I was restless. My body buzzed with energy, with frustration and desire.Damn! I needed to fuck!I paced my room like a caged animal until I couldn’t take it anymore.I needed Lily. The thought of her alone made my pulse thrum in my temples. She was fire wrapped in silk, venom dressed as beauty. She had let me believe she was mine when it suited her, I hated that but it’s better than nothing at all. I loved her and wouldn’t want to pressure her, considering the circumstances around our relationship. If anyone caught me sneaking into her room at this hour, I would have to come up with something clever. An excuse, a cover story, maybe a book in my hand or a fake gift. Anything that explained my presence. But my cock wasn’t interested in cover stories. It just wanted her.I slipped out into the hallway, the floorboards whispering under my weight. Between Lily’s door and Hannah’s door, the house felt alive with secrets.I

  • The Heiress Returns: Reclaiming My Legacy   Chapter 39: Grandfather’s Choice

Chapter 39: Grandfather’s Choice**Lucas’ POV**I was already feeling hot despite the strong chill of the A.C in the room. Why was I born into a family that practically dictates every single thing I do?Grandfather leaned back in my chair like he owned the damn thing. His eyes never left mine.“This marriage,” he said slowly, every word dropping with the weight of a hammer, “is not just an ordinary marriage. It is a business alliance. A contract built in flesh and blood. The Bristo name will be tied to the Blacks, their influence woven with ours, and together we will ensure Bristo Enterprises sits at the very top. The number one. No rivals. No equal.”The words echoed in the room, cold and heavy.I swallowed back the bitterness rising in my throat. “I understand the importance, Grandfather. But with all due respect….” my voice sharpened, “…it should still be my choice.”His brow arched. “Should it?”“Yes,” I snapped. “You’ve already caged me in by narrowing the pool to one family. One

Chapter 37: It is none of my business**Hannah’s POV**The sound of Lucas’ car pulling away made me scared of what awaits me with these family members in front of me, its low growl fading until it was nothing but silence.I turned, ready to slip inside, to vanish upstairs and drown in solitude, but my mother’s voice halted me.“Hannah!”She was on me instantly, her face lit with an excitement I hadn’t seen since I got to find out she was my mother. Her shawl slid from her shoulders as she hurried closer, clasping my hands as though she’d just won the lottery.“Oh my darling, how was it with Lucas?” Her words tumbled out in rapid succession, bubbling with hope. “Did he treat you kindly? Did he say anything, anything at all…about you? About marriage?”I froze, caught off guard by her intensity. Her eyes were wide, shimmering like a girl’s instead of a woman’s, her breath shallow as if she’d been holding it the entire time Lucas was here.“Mummy…”“You must tell me!” she pressed, her han
