D A N T E

I was in my office, going through a few paper work the door opened and Antonio Valenti walked in without knocking.

He is my best friend since we were boys, he returned from England a day before Nonna’s birthday, he’s been a way for a while handling business at his father’s company and now that he’s transferred to New York, moving the business here, I’d be seeing a lot of his face.

“You look like hell,” he said, dropping into the chair across from my desk.

I didn’t answer I just let out a breath my thoughts wondering back to Ariana.

God she’s in my every day thought, she has me wrapped around her fingers and she doesn’t even know that.

“So,” Antonio said, leaning forward. “You finally got her the mystery girl from the club all those years ago the one you could not forget.”

I finally turned to look at him. “I have her but I do not have her.”

Antonio raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

I opened the door and stepped in Dante was sitting behind his huge desk, looking at some papers, he looked very serious, lost in his work and I took that time to run my stare around his dashing features. Damn! This man ate in every outfit he puts. He looked up and saw it was me, his whole face changed, It lit up a slight smile spread across his face. "Ariana," he said, his voice warm as he stood up immediately. He walked around his desk toward me, and before I could say anything, he pulled me into his arms and kissed me It was a quick, hard kiss that left me surprised and breathless. "Hi," he said, smiling down at me. "Hi," I whispered back, my face feeling hot. He took my hand and led me to the big, comfortable sofa in the c

A R I A N A I stirred as my eyes split open, the space next to me in the bed was empty causing me to open my eyes fully my eyes falling on a small note on Dante's pillow. I picked it up his handwriting was neat and strong. "I had to leave early for a meeting I am sorry I could not wake you, I will see you at the office today. Do not be late. -D" I read the note two times. He was expecting me to report to work today. At his company and as his new Head of Financial Strategy we’ll that’s if I pass the interview. A part of me felt a little happy he believed in me, he thought I was smart enough for the job. But a bigger part of me felt sick with guilt. I was going to use this job to betray him and it made me feel, I mean I was going to dig through his private papers and somehow find a a way to ruin him which I one it’s going to me so hard but I had to find a way. I sat up in bed, holding the note my stomach felt tight. I had to do this, for Asher I repeated it in my head like

A R I A N A I woke up in the middle of the night the bed feeling big and empty next to me Dante wasn’t there and the room was dark and quiet. I goraned rubbing on my throat, I felt thirsty. My throat was very dry. I wondered where Dante had gone probably in his home office working, I’ve noted that he is a workaholic the minute I stepped into this house. It’s like his work was never ending. I sat up slowly. My body felt sore a slow smile spreading to my lips, our together had been... intense, I blushed just by thinking about it. I pulled on Dante's big shirt that was on the floor. It smelled like him. I walked quietly out of the room and down the big stairs and then to the kitchen, the house was so big and quiet at night. It felt a little scary. I got a glass of water from the kitchen letting out a breath as I begin to gulp, I heard a noise behind me. I turned around quickly. It was Dante. He stood in the kitchen doorway. He looked panicked with his eyes were wide

A R I A N A I forced myself to pull away from Dante’s warm, safe chest, wiping away my tears with the back of my hand, trying to smile even though my heart was screaming and hurting. I didn’t expect to see Dante at the foyer, i thought to lock up myself in the room and wrap my head around what had happened and what more is about to come. “I am sorry,” I whispered, my voice still shaky. “I am just… overwhelmed that’s all.” I looked up at him, hoping my eyes did not show the lie in my heart, hoping he wouldn’t hint it. “I want to give us a chance,” I said, the words feeling heavy and wrong on my tongue. “I really do, and I am sorry for running off like that, I just went out to get some air to think and wrap my head around everything but I am ready now I am ready to try” I say biting my lower lip as I gulped a lump hating myself for lying. Dante looked down at me his dark eyes searching my face, he lifted his hand and gently cupped my cheek, his thumb brushed away a tear that I m

A R I A N A I stared at my father, my vision blurry with tears, the ropes on my wrists felt so tight, but the fear in my heart felt even tighter. He looked enraged and if looks could kill I’ll be six inches under the ground. “Dad,” I whispered, my voice shaking. “Please please do not kill my child., it doesn’t have to be this way, please, he is just a little boy. He has done nothing wrong… just let him go please.”My father just stared down at me his face was cold, unhinged by anything I said, if anything it made him look even more infuriated.“I worked for everything,” he said, his voice flat and hard. “I built my company from nothing, I made the Melendez name powerful, do you have any idea how many sacrifices I had made to get to where I was? Huh? I put my sweat and blood to reach the position I was a few weeks back….I did it all and you… you ruined it. You ruined everything.”I shivered at his tune but it didn’t stop be from pleading. “I am sorry, dad! I am so sorry! please, do
