“I'm in,” Audrey replied almost immediately.

“Great one. I’ll get the contract ready by tomorrow for you to sign. Make sure to read through this time,” Thomas said with a small smile, prompting a laugh from Audrey. But her smiles vanished abruptly immediately Thomas' expression turned serious.

“Tomorrow's Valentine's Day and you have to go to the High-End Valentine's party with me.”

Audrey's mind whirled with thoughts. The dress on her was the only beautiful dress she had. Asking Sophia for a dress would be horrible.

Playing the role of a billionaire's fiancee could be expensive. She hadn't thought of that before jumping to accept.

It seemed Thomas heard her thoughts when he said, “Since you're avoiding home, why don't you come with me and get ready for tomorrow?”

Audrey's face split into a huge grin, her teeth flashing white. Thomas' unreadable expression kept her to her spot, else she'd have jumped on him in excitement.

Thomas seemed to have two personalities; in a moment, he could be smiling and the next moment his face was frowning. But whatever it was, Audrey was ready to roll with his habit. She had always had a crush on him, even with his non-smiling pictures.

There was nothing she was going back to pick at home anyway. “Sure, I’ll go with you,” she responded and followed Thomas into the car. She settled beside the chauffeur while Thomas sat at the back.

The car pulled up in front of a mansion. Audrey's jaw dropped in admiration. She had only seen grandeur like this in movies.

“You’ll be staying here for now.” Thomas' voice yanked her gaze away from admiration.

He pointed to a lady standing nearby, “Sharon will be your assistance.” With that he turned to leave.

“Where are you going?” Audrey asked with curiosity.

“To my house,” Thomas replied with a raised eyebrow. “Remember, you're my fiancee, not wife, don't expect to live with me.” His tone was gentle but firm.

Audrey simply nodded in response, his words broke her heart.

“Take this,” Thomas handed her a black card. Audrey's eyes widened with shock as she collected it.

“Buy yourself things you need. And get a dress for tomorrow.”

Audrey couldn't believe her ears. She stared in silence, her eyes not blinking as Thomas walked away with his bodyguard.

‘A black card? It can only be owned by the most prominent people in the country.’

Audrey's eyes beamed with tears. She had just left home with nothing and now she was holding a black card of the most prominent man in the country.

After Thomas' car disappeared from view, she dashed into the bathroom and had a quick shower, ready to go shopping.

Her face danced with smiles as she slid into the backseat of the car Thomas had left for her, accompanied by Sharon.

The car pulled up at the most expensive boutique in the city.

Audrey's eyes devoured the dresses hung. They sparkled with beauty and money.

“This will perfectly fit you, ma’am,” Sharon said with a soft smile as she pulled out a knee- length white gown.

But just then, a hand shot out, snatching it away from her. “I saw it first,” the familiar voice said.

Audrey looked around and was shocked to see Sophia and Lucas, hands locked. But Lucas immediately dropped Sophia's hand, on sighting Audrey.

“Sophia, you’ve got no shame,” Audrey said with a frown.

“You always want what belongs to me….first was my family….my supposed fiance…and now my dress.”

Sophia let out a low hiss and rolled her eyes, flipping her hair off her shoulder.

Lucas stalked closer to Audrey, his expression stern and unapologetic.

“Leave all this your pretense. You can't get to pay the debt. Marry me or rot in jail,” his tone was annoying.

Audrey smirked, “You have my sister already, she should replace me.” She hissed, yanked the dress from Sophia's slack grip and turned to leave.

“You can't pay for that, Audrey. Don't embarrass yourself,” Sophia shouted after Audrey as she strode to the cashier.

Sophia's feet almost slipped in shock as Audrey pulled out a black card. She glanced back at Lucas with a questioning look.

“The black card is only owned by your family and your family's competitor. Did you give her your card?” She asked in a low tone.

Lucas patted his pocket for his card and it was there. Still confused, he snatched the card from the cashier.

“Lucas!” Audrey screamed at him in anger.

“You stole the Whiteson’s card,” Lucas accused, holding it up.

Audrey's jaw clenched, her fist tightening beside her. She badly wanted to punch Lucas in the face, and unleash the Taekwondo skills she kept hidden. But to avoid getting in trouble with Thomas, she forced calmness.

“Do you want me to call Mr. Thomas?” Sharon whispered in her ear, but Audrey shook her head.

“I can handle this,” she said.

“Give me back my card,” Audrey's teeth clenched with fury. Lucas hesitated before finally handing it over to her.

Audrey handed it back to the cashier. Lucas and Sophia were more shocked when the machine beeped and the payment was made.

Sharon grabbed the bag and bowed slightly for Audrey. “Yes, we can leave now.” Audrey said in response.

She gave Lucas and Sophia a disdainful look, hissed and walked past.

Lucas and Sophia tiptoed after her. Their eyes almost popped out of their sockets when a man with the Whiteson's company ID opened the car door for her.

“How?” They shouted in unison.

“She just returned to the city. How did she meet the Whiteson?” Sophia whispered, her eyes wide.

Lucas' face twisted in shock, confusion and fear. ‘Is Audrey selling her body to any of the Whiteson's sons to pay the debt?

What will happen when she clears the debt with their help? He won't get to marry her and that means he’d lose the benefits of Audrey's share in her grandfather's company.’

“No,” he growled, his neck veins bulging.

“There has to be an alternative,” Sharon whispered and Lucas nodded in response.

Audrey woke up early before anyone could. After getting dressed, she moved to the drawer, pulling out the things she couldn't leave behind. She fit them into a small box, closing it slowly, to avoid noise that might wake anyone up. She slipped out of the house on tiptoe, the door closing gently behind her. At the gate, she stopped and took a final look at her father's house. “Maybe, when I make something of myself, they’d want me back.” She whispered, her voice shaking.A taxi was already waiting for her, she wiped her cheeks and entered it. “Drive,” she said. Audrey’s eyes couldn't stop shedding tears, and she didn't bother wiping them. Her heart was shattered- her father now loved money and title over her. And all of these started after Sophia was adopted. The taxi finally came to a stop in front of a building, sitting alone in the area. Audrey paid the driver and alighted. The front door creaked open before she reached the door knob. Attorney Ethan emerged, his eyes darting

Cole slid his phone across the table.Thomas snatched it, eager to see. The screenshots of the conversations between Attorney Ethan and Audrey stared back at him.He scrolled and read fast, his pulse racing. ‘Never thought this girl was this smart. She would have been a smart wife to Thomas Whiteson,’ Thomas' thought, his thumb frozen as he re-read some lines. “That's everything I got,” Cole said in a whisper. Thomas didn't look up, he just gently set the phone down. “Thanks.” He stood to his feet. “My accountant will send you the money I promised.” He walked out of the restaurant without waiting for Cole's response. Two options battled in his head: Use Audrey's secret to drag her into marrying him, or watch her play her game and strike when she thought she'd won. It seemed like he went with the second option. He unlocked his phone, fingers dancing on the screen as he texted his accountant. “Five million dollars to Star Shelters inc.” He heaved heavily after hitting send, lean

In less than two hours, William stood in Thomas' office again, a laptop held firmly in his hands. Thomas raised his head, set his pen down and leaned back. His eyes fixed on William, “What did you find?”“Em....”“Have your seat,” Thomas interrupted softly. William gave a slight nod, pulled the chair back gently and lowered himself onto it. He opened the laptop and turned it toward Thomas. “Stars Shelter was founded by Miss Ashley Morgan. That's all that is on the public record.” He paused, turned the laptop to himself, his fingers moving fast across the keyboard. Audrey's photo flashed on the screen. He then turned the laptop back to Thomas. “I tracked her down in person. She's Audrey Sterling, the daughter of Mr. Smith Sterling. And she's currently the CEO of Elomos company.”Thomas's brow furrowed. William continued, “Mr. Thomas, Ashley Morgan isn't her real name. And I think she's trying to use this charity organization to defraud donors.”‘CEO?’ Thomas exhaled. ‘That doesn'

“Dad,” Audrey called, squinting her eyes to be sure she was seeing clearly. Her father shook his head, a frown creasing his face and then he turned back. Audrey let out a deep breath, trying to maintain her composure as she left the boardroom demurely, but by the time she reached the door, her father had already left. ‘What brought him to the company? Did he hear what he wasn't supposed to hear? Did I say anything out of plan?’ The questions made her pulse race. “I’ve got more limited time,” she whispered to herself and sank into her executive chair. She opened her laptop to start work on her new organization. She would sit back, leaned forward, stood and paced as she racked her brain for a befitting name for the organization. ‘Stars Shelter!’ the name dropped into her mind. A satisfying smile pulled at the corner of her lips and she snatched a pen and wrote it down in a paper. She began drafting letters to get her organization registered under the name - Ashley Morgan. “Dad, before you call whoever you want to call, remember the company's constitution.” Audrey didn't raise her voice, her voice was firm and confident. Oliver and his father exchange shocked glances. Mr. Smith dropped his phone, feeling stupid. He didn't know anything about Elomos' constitution, he had left all about the company to his late father. He was going to call Mr. John, the 50% stakeholder, the CEO who went on leave for Audrey to take over. “I have a say in the company, same as every other stakeholder. To fire me, we all need to vote. And Mr. John?” She paused, chuckling slightly. “He got the report of what I had done just today, he won't want to vote me out so soon.” Audrey said, her arms crossed around her chest and feet tapping the floor. Mr. Smith didn't say anything. He gently stood up, about walking out of the room when Oliver said, “Dad, you're in control of the share till she's married. You still have the right to stop her from working.” Mr. Smith kept his eyes o

Audrey's eyes snapped open before her alarm even rang. She threw off the duvet and dashed into the bathroom. She didn't have a good sleep; her thoughts ran through the night. With Sophia by her side, her fear and anger intensified, a low hiss escaped her lips every time Sophia turned in bed. After her rushed shower, she dressed up in one of the new dresses her mother had gotten her the day before: a navy blue long-sleeve shirt, black pencil skirt that dropped on her knees, and a tailored blazer, pairing it with a black heels. “I’m good to go,” she exclaimed, smiling at her reflection in the mirror. She grabbed her handbag and car key. Her father had given her a car the day before. Before anyone could wake up, Audrey had left the house to Elomos company. Her heart leapt with joy as she pulled into the company’s parking lot. She lingered in the car for a few minutes, fingers loose on the wheel, remembering her wishlist. Finally, she was living her dream. The new CEO. The role her f

She attributed their initial attitudes to what had transpired between her and Sophia before she ran away from home. Sophia had taken over her room, replaced the pink decor with a cold blue tone that she wasn
