Gilbert walked toward the chairman’s office, his head clouded with anger and restless thoughts. The door was slightly ajar, and when he pushed it open, the first thing he saw was the chairman behind his desk silently gazing at an old picture frame.

His expression was soft, almost sad but the moment he noticed the door open, he quickly set the picture aside, placing it face down on the table before Gilbert could see it.

"Father," Gilbert greeted and bowed slightly.

"Sit," the chairman said, gesturing to the chair across from him.

Gilbert obeyed, sitting down and folding his hands together on his lap. "You called me."

The chairman nodded. "Yes… about the project." He leaned forward a little. "Tell me Gilbert, is it really yours?"

Gilbert’s hands tightened into fists, his jaw clenched but he tried to be calm. "Father..."

The chairman lifted his hand. "It’s alright. Damien seems to know a lot about this project somehow, and it’s important to focus on the adjustments he mentioned. The proj

That was the height of it for Alondra. She couldn’t take it anymore. Without saying another word, she grabbed her car keys and stormed out of the house. Surprised by her sudden actions, Natalia quickly followed behind."Where are you going?" she asked, trying to keep up, but Alondra didn’t respond. She just kept walking faster and faster until she got into her car. Left with no choice, Natalia also got into the passenger seat.Alondra’s grip on the steering wheel was tight, her jaw clenched, while Natalia kept stealing worried glances at her. Neither of them spoke until Alondra suddenly pulled up in front of the luxurious villa.Natalia’s eyes widened. "Wait… this place… isn’t this Damien’s villa?" she asked in disbelief.Alondra stopped the car without answering. She was already reaching for the door handle when Natalia grabbed her arm, frowning."Don’t tell me you came here to apologize to him" she asked sharply.Alondra turned her head slowly. "Me? Apologize to Damien? Never. My pr

The dining room was unusually quiet that morning as Alondra sat at the long table, her plate of food untouched before her but she wasn’t really looking at it. Her eyes kept darting back and forth to her phone, waiting for the screen to light up, waiting for Damien's name to appear like always. But it didn’t.Natalia who was eating slowly while sneaking glances at her best friend noticed the uneasiness in Alondra’s blank stare. She raised a brow curiously but before she could say anything, Alondra suddenly gripped her fork and stabbed at her food with unnecessary force. She tried lifting the piece of meat to her mouth, but even the fork seemed to betray her, making the meat slip back onto the plate. That tiny failure was enough to snap the last of her patience. Her hand trembled as she stabbed again, over and over in anger.Natalia flinched at the sudden outburst. "Alondra…" she started already getting pissed off.But Alondra had already had enough. Pushing back her chair, she stood a

After Gilbert left Damien’s office, the room went quiet again. Damien leaned back in his chair, shaking his head almost in pity.“What does he even know?”Gilbert’s words were meant to hurt, but to Damien, they were just noise like an annoying fly buzzing near his ear. He turned back to the papers on his desk and kept working, flipping through each page carefully. An hour later, when he finished, he gathered the file he had just reviewed along with the one he had brought from home. He placed one file under his arm, holding the other loosely in his hand. Instead of heading straight out of the company, he made his way leisurely down the corridor and into Gilbert’s office.Inside, Gilbert was busy typing on his computer, his eyes fixed on the screen. He didn’t notice Damien at first until Damien pulled out a chair, sat down, crossed his legs, and dropped the files from home right on Gilbert’s desk. The file from his mother’s office remained in Damien’s lap."Hey, brother," Damien greeted

Damien slowly pulled out of the hug with Lyriel, brushing his hand against her cheek slightly before giving her a faint smile."I’ll take a shower,” he muttered quietly.Lyriel nodded, watching him walk toward the bedroom. There were things she wanted to ask him but it didn't seem like the right time. What was really going on in the Cruz family? What could be heavy enough to bring Damien to tears like that? She wondered, exhaling softly as she stared at the closed door.Inside the room and almost shirtless, Damien's phone began to ring on the bedside table. He glanced at the screen and sighed when he saw the caller’s name.Alondra.He didn't want to pick at first but after a while, he swiped the screen and answered. The moment the phone touched his ears, Alondra voice rang out loud and annoying."Damien… what’s with that picture of you kissing Lyriel?" she shouted."It is what you saw,” Damien replied flatly, his tone giving nothing away.On the other end, Alondra froze, her lips par

Eleanor’s sharp scream echoed through the study immediately the chairman clutched his chest."Call the doctor! Quickly!" she shouted at the guards as the chairman continue to clutched his chest, his breaths uneven as a few guard rushed out in panic, their footsteps echoing down the hall. But Damien didn’t move, he just stood where he was as if he hadn’t just dropped a bomb into the room. Gilbert panicked, his eyes darting between their father and Damien as he took a step forward."T-This… this recording is fake! It’s not real Damien... why are you bent on causing confusion?" he said, sharply before turning to the chairman. "he’s trying to frame me, Father! I would never..."Damien leaned back against the wall slightly, folding his arms as his smirk deepened. He didn’t bother to argue, he just let Gilbert choke on his own lies. Slowly, Damien lifted his hand, glancing and playing with his fingers as he ignored everyone else."The project… or Lyriel?"His words, his unbothered tone, al
