After the quiet family meal, Gilbert stood and gave the chairman a small bow. "I’ll excuse myself father." he muttered calmly.

"Alright, go on. I’ll call Damien and make him apologize to you."

Gilbert thanked him with a small smile and left the house.

He drove to his usual bar house, and once there, he pushed open the door of the bar, the heavy stench of alcohol and smoke hitting his nose. His men stood up nervously the moment they saw him, their eyes avoiding his. He walked in slowly, his face calm but his eyes dark. That calmness was always worse than his anger.

"Why wasn’t it done?" He asked the moment he stood in front of them.

No one spoke at first. Then one of them stepped forward. "Some men came to help him... so, we couldn’t pin him down."he paused. "And when we tried to shoot, the girl... got in the way. I believe she would survive it."

Gilbert’s expression went cold, then he burst into sudden laughter. He leaned in close to the man. “So… not only did you fail to kill Damien,

Gilbert’s fingers slowly balled into a tight fist, but before he could say a word, the chairman spoke."Tell me, Damien… where did you ever hear that violence solves anything?" His tone was heavy like he was already exhausted. But Damien didn’t look at him. His eyes were still locked on Gilbert, watching him like he was studying every reaction. Only after a long moment did he finally turn away and glance at the picture lying on the table once more."So," he said slowly, "who exactly discovered this version of me I supposedly know nothing about?"Nobody answered, so he continued in the same mocking tone."Okay, so you’re saying I’m the one who beat these men up and they’re the innocent ones? Right. At this rate I might as well audition for the Avengers."He shook his head with a laugh that wasn’t really a laugh, then looked straight at the chairman. With a lazy sigh, he pushed back his chair.Smiling faintly, he rose to his feet and walked a few steps away from the table so no one woul

Natalia widened in disbelief as she stared at Alondra as if she had completely lost her mind. "You’re serious about drugging Damien? What exactly are you planning... sleeping with him, or something worse? Because I honestly don’t get it."Alondra released a sly smile, her eyes glinting with mischief as she gave a low chuckle."Well… can’t say," she replied lazily. "You’ll just have to wait until tonight to see how it goes."Natalia blinked, stunned. "Tonight?" she repeated, her voice rising. "You’re planning on doing it tonight?"Alondra chuckled again, her laughter slow and unsettling as though the whole thing amused her. She twirled the small bottle in her fingers, staring at it like it was some kind of achievement."You should worry less," she said coldly. "With Gilbert on my side, things will go exactly as planned." Her gaze hardened, fixing on the bottle before she gently set it on the bedside table.Natalia shifted to a side uncomfortably. She wanted to say more, but Alondra’s

Jerry’s voice crackled through the phone, filled with surprise. “What do you mean by that? Do you want them to know you’re alive now?" he asked, almost breathless.Lyriel gave a steady smile. "Me? Who knows? I can’t say for sure… but I do want to see the look on their faces, honestly." She chuckled, finding the thought funny."That’s not funny," Jerry muttered.Lyriel rolled her eyes. "I’m serious. I want to be at that wedding."There was a pause, then instead of responding, Jerry’s next question was a little worried. "And Lyriel, how do you plan to get your company back at this point? Everyone seems to have forgotten about you. When will you ever return and take your place again?"She let out a soft breath and stare up at the ceiling. “That’s enough about that for today, Jerry. Everyone already thinks I died in that car accident.""Lyriel," he said seriously."There you go being serious again," she replied, then her tone hardened. "But I’ve gathered enough evidence against those two.

The red line on the big display kept sinking lower and lower and every drop made the crowd more restless. Soon, mocking voices filled the hall."Wasn’t that kid confident earlier? Where’s that confidence now?"“He spoke carelessly moment ago like he’s been in this business for decades... I feel pity for those who listened to him." Another laughed."Mr. Xiao must be very disappointed in his daughter for following the word of some kid because of their pretty face. Young people these days." Another clicked their tongue."They need to stay home and play with toys, not enter real business."The insults hit hard, each word feeling like a stone thrown at Damien. Some laughed openly, others shook their heads in pity, and even Miss Xiao standing near him felt the pressure of the humiliation.Damien, however, stayed calm, his eyes following the falling red line as he placed his hand on his chin, deep in thought. Then suddenly, a memory came back to him.He recalled sitting in on a meeting with

Damien’s sharp eyes scanned the crowd, and then they landed on the familiar figure. A faint smile appeared on his face as he recognized Mr. Parker, then without hesitation, he walked toward him."Greetings, sir," he said politely, lowering himself into the seat beside him.Mr. Parker raised a brow, surprised at the confidence in Damien’s tone."Oh? And who might you be?""I’m Damien," he introduced himself smoothly.Mr. Parker chuckled. "You’ve got a fine name, kid. And I indeed love your confidence."Damien’s lips curved into a tight smile. "Kid…" he repeated under his breath, forcing a light laugh. In his mind, however, his thoughts were screaming loud enough. "I’m twenty-nine. Soon to be thirty. Thirty...Hardly a kid."But he swallowed the words, choosing instead to keep his composure."So, Mr. Parker," he asked lightly, "you came here to invest"Mr. Parker nodded. "Yeah... I heard about them a few years back and I decided to give it my first shot. And you?""Yeah, me too,” Damien

Lyriel’s fingers gently wrapped around Damien’s hand, her eyes filled with concern. He shook his head slowly, giving her a reassuring smile as if to tell her there was nothing to worry about. "Things will go well," he assured. Turning away from her, he focused his attention on the two men standing nearby. "Meet me here tomorrow," he instructed. "We’ll go and invest." He added. A faint smirk appeared at the corner of his lips as he thought about the investment thing. It sounded crazy and unbelievable, but this was the only way to compete with the Cruz. The men bowed respectfully, their voices in unison as they replied, "Yes, boss." Without another word, they excused themselves, leaving the room in silence once more. Damien rose to his feet and extended his hand toward Lyriel. She placed her hand in his, and with an ease that left her breathless, he carried her into his arms . Her lips parted in surprise, but before she could say anything, he leaned in and kissed her gent
