“And what do you mean by that statement?” Steven asked. Calista noticed that his voice seemed deeper and was laced with a desire that he normally did not show. He normally did not show any emotion at all, so it was almost comical to her to hear it in his voice at all.

“I meant I trust you,” Calista said.

“You shouldn’t trust any man, sweetheart.” He said as he looked at her, snuggled up next to him. He pulled her closer, and he smiled into her hair as he kissed her gently.

“Any other man and I wouldn’t. You have earned my trust, Steven.” Calista said, and he groaned softly.

“Then let’s have a drink. One or two only otherwise, I may do something I would regret.” Steven said.

“Like what?” Calista prompted, and he pulled away from her.
