Jace’s POV

My head was pounding like a damn drumline. Not the normal kind of hangover either, this felt… different. Heavy. My tongue was dry, my stomach queasy, and every time I blinked, the room tilted like I’d just stepped off a spinning rink.

I groaned, dragging a pillow over my face. What the hell did I drink last night? It wasn’t even that much. A couple of glasses, sure, but I’d gone harder before without feeling like I’d been steamrolled by a Zamboni.

“Up. Now.”

Scott’s voice cut through the fog, sharp and irritatingly clear. The next thing I knew, the covers were yanked off me, cold air slapping my skin.

“Jesus, Scott!” I croaked, clutching my head.

“You can whine later. Final practice before the championship, Jace. The entire team’s already on the ice, and you’re in bed like it’s Sunday brunch.”

I squinted at him, trying to sit up, but my arms felt like they weighed double. My chest tightened, and I had this weird, bitter taste at the back of my throat.

Something was off. Se

Damien’s POVIt was a difficult decision to make. Though I loved Lily, God knows I loved her with everything in me, I didn't want to do this. Part of me believed it was better for her to grow up with her biological father, that Fred should be the one taking responsibility, that I shouldn't have to carry the weight of someone else's lies.I'd bonded with her for five years as her father. This would be hard on her too, devastating even, but wasn't it better in the long run? Better to make the break now rather than continue living a lie?Though Fred was not particularly a father figure. Hell, neither was I, if I was being honest. But I was better than he was. At least I showed up. At least I cared. Fred was a scam and a scoundrel, and the thought of him raising the beautiful daughter I'd helped raise for five years made my stomach turn. And Vanessa? She was barely a mother figure at all. She'd left Lily with her younger sister Bailey more often than not, gallivanting around chasing her m

  • The Hockey Star's Spicy Stripper   CHAPTER 162

Sabrina's POVThe library was my favourite room in the Kingsley mansion, not because of its grandeur, though the floor-to-ceiling shelves and leather-bound books were breathtaking, but because it smelt like safety. Old paper, polished wood, and the faint trace of Alexander's cologne that lingered even when he wasn't there. It was almost eight in the evening, and Lila's bedtime routine was sacred. Bath, pyjamas, warm milk, and then the most important part: choosing tomorrow's bedtime story."This one!" Lila squealed, bouncing on her toes as she pointed to a book on the fourth shelf, just out of her reach.I smiled, stretching up to retrieve it. "The Princess and the Dragon again? Sweetheart, we've read this five times this week.""But I like it!" she protested, her bottom lip jutting out in that way that made her impossible to refuse. "The princess is brave, and the dragon isn't really mean; he's just lonely."My chest tightened. "Yeah," I whispered, pulling the book down. "Sometimes t

Aria’s POVThe steady beep of machines was the first thing I registered, a rhythmic, monotonous sound that seemed to come from very far away. Then came the smell: antiseptic, bleach, and something metallic that made my stomach turn.Hospital.I was in a hospital.I tried to open my eyes, but my eyelids felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. My head throbbed with a dull, persistent ache, and when I tried to move, pain shot through my right arm.The accident, the car pulling out. The impact.Everything came rushing back in fragments: the crunch of metal, the explosion of the airbag, the warm trickle of blood down my face. The sickening realisation that I'd failed to reach the mansion in time.Damien. The security system. The verification check.I tried to sit up, panic overriding pain, but my body wouldn't cooperate. Everything felt heavy and sluggish, like I was moving through molasses."Easy, Miss Winters." A nurse appeared in my blurred vision, her hands gentle as she eased me bac

  • The Hockey Star's Spicy Stripper   CHAPTER 160

Aria’s POVBy the time I got to the bedroom, Julian was already in bed. The room was pitch black, so dark I had to use my phone's flashlight to navigate without tripping over furniture or banging my injured arm against something. He was facing the wall, his breathing steady, seemingly asleep. I moved as quietly as possible, not wanting to wake him. He'd had a long day, from the hospital stress to the fight with Damien. The last thing he needed was me disturbing what little rest he could get.I was someone who liked to sleep in every position imaginable, sprawled across the bed like a starfish. But now, with my dislocated arm, I was confined to one side, forced to lie carefully on my back, unable to move freely. The restriction felt claustrophobic, suffocating. The moment I settled onto the mattress, his voice came through the darkness."I didn't like the way you handled the situation tonight."It was calm, gentle, almost, but there was an edge underneath. Like he'd been lying there pr

  • The Hockey Star's Spicy Stripper   CHAPTER 159

Aria’s POVThere was a brief pause from my end. Not because I didn't know what to say, but because this felt like a nightmare unfolding in real time. I knew how much finding her baby's father meant to Maya. How she'd talked about it, wondered about it, and obsessed over it during late-night phone calls when the loneliness got too heavy. But if I were being honest with myself, I'd say I'd never actually wanted her to find him.The ultimate reason was simple. He was younger. Much younger. And this was an unplanned child, a one-night stand that had resulted in a pregnancy neither of them had anticipated. Bringing this young man into the baby's life would only cause chaos. More chaos than Maya needed, more complications than either of them could handle."Aria? Are you there?"Her voice jerked me back to reality."Yeah, I am. Sorry, my network was breaking up." The lie came easily, smoothly."Well, did you hear what I said?""I heard you, Maya." I rubbed my temple, trying to organise my th

  • The Hockey Star's Spicy Stripper   CHAPTER 158

Aria’s POVMy alarm pierced through the darkness, jarring me awake from the restless sleep I'd managed to fall into, and the verification process. Of course. Because what this night needed was more complications.I reached over with my good arm to silence the alarm, wincing as the movement jostled my injured shoulder. Every part of my body ached, a constant reminder of the accident, of the chaos my life had become. Then I heard it.Raised voices from downstairs. The crash of something breaking. The unmistakable sound of conflict."Oh God, no."I threw off the covers and stumbled out of bed, my feet hitting the cold floor. My nightgown twisted around my legs as I rushed toward the door, and I should have been more careful, should have remembered my injuries, but panic overrode common sense.I was running down the hallway, taking the stairs too fast, skipping steps in my desperation to reach them before something terrible happened. And then I saw it.Damien's fist connected with Julian'
