*Narrator*
Something stirs in the underworld as a massive spike in demonic energy is felt throughout the castle corridors. One demon goes in search of the power spike and spies a young girl who can wield both demonic and witch like powers and he secretly wonders if she is who he's looking for. He follows her closely and watches her from a distance before losing her in a large crowd and returning to the underworld more frustrated than before.
Luna’s POV:
I'm walking through the familiar streets when a now hiring sign in a high end bar catches my eyes. Money is no longer an issue since I graduated from college and inherited my parent's estate but it would be nice to feel somewhat normal. I look up at the large white fluorescent sign hanging on the outside of the building. The sign read Angels Keep. What an interesting name, I think to myself as I walk inside.
The interior was beautiful. The walls were gold and offset with paintings hung in satin black frames. There was an occasional black wall to offset the gold ones and giant black and gold speckled floor vases with greenery sat in corners and along some of the walls around the room. The counters were gold with black trim and the chairs at the bar counter had gold legs with black vinyl cushions. There were a few tables with matching chairs scattered here and there. There was a large wall length mirror on the wall behind the bar and a massive liquor cabinet on one side.
I suddenly catch a whiff of a scent I'm familiar with and I begin to look around wildly. Not seeing the person I was smelling I shook my head and disappointment sets in. I haven’t seen her in years and she's probably nowhere near this place anymore I sigh inwardly as I recall my old friend. I suddenly spot an older gentleman standing at the far end of the bar.
"Excuse me sir. I'm here about the open position." I speak clearly to him.
"Yeah? It's part time only but the pay is decent." The gentleman replies as he dries a glass with the bar towel in his hand.
"That's not a problem for me sir. I've just gotten back in town and would like to get back on my feet again as soon as possible. I replied with a smile.
The man looks my way and looks me over for a moment as if he's searching for something.
"Hmm, well be here tomorrow at 5pm. I need your dress and shoe size for your uniform. Heels aren't a problem for you are they?" The man replies
"No, heels won't be a problem. I'm a four in a dress and a size seven in heels." I say as I shake my head.
"When you get here tomorrow I'll have you fill out the formal paperwork. If you want to show up a few minutes early to fill everything out you can. Name's Jack by the way what's yours?" He asks.
"My name's Luana Kenneally, but everyone just calls me Luna." I reply.
"Alright Luna. Be here tomorrow and the job's yours." He replies.
"Thank you so much! I will definitely be here!" I say with a smile and then quickly leave the bar.
I feel excitement building within me as I make my way to the train station. I bought a one way ticket to Oakington and boarded the train. I start getting antsy the closer I get to my parents old homestead. I've missed this place so much. I had inherited all of my parent's assets upon their death but since I was still a year away from graduating I was unable to stay in Oakington and finish my schooling here. My parents wanted to ensure I graduated so I was to only get my inheritance upon graduating.
Once I'm back in Oakington I catch a cab and head to the old house. To my surprise the old creek stone cottage is still in immaculate condition. There are woods all around so I'm completely secluded. If I remember correctly the house sat in the center of 150 acres of property. I waited till the cab left then snapped my fingers. I had destroyed all the keys that came into my possession for fear of them being discovered by Samael. The door knobs instantly changed and a new set of keys appeared in my hand. I quickly went inside to find that everything remained the same as it was when I left. There were scorch marks on the wall and ceiling in the hallway just in front of the open living room door. They said when I found my parents that I exploded into a fiery rage attacking anyone who came close to my parents with fire before eventually losing consciousness. The house looks great otherwise and other than needing a good cleaning the place was still as beautiful as I remember.
I quickly began cleaning up the old cottage using my magic here and there. I started in the two upstairs bedrooms first cleaning and moving things as needed. I moved all the belongings I was keeping to the downstairs master bedroom then I started cleaning the last room upstairs which was my father's old study. While cleaning his old desk I found a set of keys to his old car. I slid them into my pocket and finished cleaning the upstairs. I made quick work of the living room using my magic to get rid of the scorch marks, and then made my way to the dining room and kitchen saving the master bedroom for last. I arranged the room the way I wanted and began boxing up some of my parent's belongings and storing them in the closet just under the stairs.
I sat down in the freshly cleaned living room when I suddenly remembered the keys I found. I quickly jumped up and headed for the garage. Once inside I spot a large black car cover. I lifted it up to find my father's White 1969 SS 396 Chevrolet Camaro. I had almost forgotten about this car! I remember it took him weeks to get it here from the states when he bought it. I run back in and grab my wallet then get in the car. I cross my fingers as I use the keys to turn over the ignition. I'm filled with happiness when I hear the rumble of the car as it starts up. I press the garage opener on the keyring then head towards the town as I breathe a sigh of relief.
Tatum's POV:I walked into my family's bar greeting Jack as I walked up to the counter. As I'm taking a seat a sweet unfamiliar smell wraps around me."You want your usual?" Jack asks.I give him a nod as I glance around the empty bar. He pulls a crystal bottle of rum from the cabinet and pours me a glass."What's that smell?" I ask Jack as he hands me my drink.Jack looks at me with questioning eyes."It's sweet and soft. Almost intoxicating." I reply."Oh that smell. I hired someone for the open position. She was in here a little while ago. She's a wolf like you. Her scent is soft but I’d hardly call it intoxicating." He
Tatum's POV:I had gotten caught up in chatting with a few clan members as well as sending away some of the many women I was going to have to deal with tonight that I didn't notice when she walked in but her scent was stronger and I felt something pulling at me. Per usual the meeting isn't actually a meeting but more of the clan just getting together to hang out. The new soft, sweet, intoxicating scent lingered strongly in the air and I did a quick sweep of the room before resting my eyes on a woman sitting behind the bar. She was looking down so I couldn't see her face but her hair was a silky black and her skin was fair. I looked out over the room and noticed that several of our younger unmated clan members had also taken notice of her.I waited a few moments more when I noticed Trevor, a fellow clan member and underling walking towards the opposi
Luna's POV:I couldn't ignore the moment I locked eyes with Tatum and I couldn’t completely ignore the sudden spark and pull I had to him. I sighed to myself trying to ignore the feeling due to the events over the last year and I was a bit taken back when mentioning my parents to someone as casually as I did. It's been over two years but it still hurts like it was yesterday. I glanced at the men I had just met. Trevor was blonde with short spiky hair, small in build and short with a bubbly personality. Tatum was the complete opposite. His hair was black like mine and was just below his broad shoulders. He was tall and well built. His arms fit snugly into his suit sleeves and his white shirt defined his muscular chest. His chiseled jaw gave him an intimidating look and the edge of a tattoo peeks out from the collar of his shirt. I've also never met a wolf with eyes as golden as mine. I laugh inwardly
Tatum's POV:I get to the door and stop as my hand touches the knob. What am I doing? I ask myself just before I sigh loudly then fling the door open and walk in. I see Jack and Luna at the bar as her scent envelops me pulling me in. She has her hair pulled back today and I notice a small tattoo just behind her ear and recognize it as the mark of the witch. Kin said she was a witch, wolf, and demon. If I'm correct she should also have the demon mark just behind her other ear. I walk up to the bar and have a seat directly across from where Luna's standing." Well hey there stranger! It's been a few days where have you been?" Jack says with a mischievous smile."I've been busy." I replied."You want your usual?" Jack asks, heading towards the cabinet.
Tatum's POV:It had been more than two months since that day in the bar with Luna and I'm casually sitting at the bar listening to Jack try to convince Luna once again to leave for the evening. As I listened to them go back and forth I recalled Kin's phone call just the day before. Luna was in fact the missing clan member from the Connerys and Samael had offered a huge bounty for anyone who brought her back. My wolf swelled with anger at just the thought of Samael claiming her as his. She was mine and I would wait however long I had to to show her I wasn’t going anywhere that easily. I casually snuck glances at Luna's face while she cleaned the bar. Her hair was straight and she looked tired and a hint of torment rested in her eyes. Her usually chipper attitude and bright golden eyes were now dul
Luna's POV:"So how exactly are you going to help me?" I ask."Easy. We just make sure you don't get found." He replies with a grin."So that's your brilliant plan?" I ask as I glares at him from the passenger's seat."Just stick with me princess and you'll be fine." He replies."Well I've tried masking my scent already if that's what you are aiming for but it clearly didn't work." I say sarcastically."And how do you know that?" He asks as we pull into a popular night club on the outskirts of town."Because you just said I've turned the head of every young unmated pack member in your clan." I quipped back.
Tatum's POV:I pull into my garage and I try to lay my wandering mind to rest. I swiftly carry Luna inside and place her in my bed. I search my room for something she can wear and run across one of my old tee shirts that is now too small for me. I lift her slightly and unzip her dress pulling it off carefully. I'm just about to put my tee shirt on her when I see several scars and almost healed bruises across her chest, abdomen, and upper thighs. I inhale sharply and stumble backwards at the realization of what her words actually meant. I approach the bed again and gently touch a scar and watch it disappear under my fingers as a dull pain radiates through the tips of my fingers. He has beaten her and from the looks and feel of it he had been doing it for a while. I begin to touch every wound and scar I can see, vanishing them in the blink of an eye. Occasionall
Tatum's POV:I had awoken at the first light of dawn as the soft light flickers through the brown and beige curtains hanging over the glass double doors in my room. Luna was still sleeping and seemed more at ease now and her back was facing me. I gently remove my arm out from under her and get out of bed. I move quietly around the room grabbing a pair of jeans and a black tee shirt before getting dressed and heading into the living room. I sit down on the couch and start scrolling through my phone and begin reading a few messages that have come through when I hear the sudden downpour of rain hitting the tin roof and a faint vibrating. I look towards the sound and see Luna's phone where I laid it last night on the brown end table next to me. I grab it and glance at the screen. I see several missed calls and messages from Samael and a few other numbers listed as Seth and Paul. I click the home button
