Chapter 4: Avoid Coming Across Him

After she left his office she headed out of the faculty to go meet Belle who was waiting for her outside the building with some of their coursemates.

When Belle saw her, she left the others and sprinted towards her then wrapped her hands around her like a little child. Milana's height was average but she was still taller than Belle.

“So why did he call you again?” Belle looked at Milana as she waited for a response.

Milana sighed “He said something about a subsidiary company under the Donatello empire that a certain CEO called Logan Donatello runs wants to take 3 students for internship”

Belle stopped walking which made Milana stop as well, she faced Milana with a surprised look on her face “Wait hold on, say that again but this time slowly”.

Milana said it again and she saw a wide smile with a look of surprise appear in Belle’s face “Wow wow wow, so tell me, he wants you to be one of those students? Belle asked with both of her eyes wide open in expectation.

Milana nodded slowly and the next thing was Belle hugging her tightly and jumping up, almost spinning her around which gained the attention of other students passing by.

“This is awesome news!!! My friend is about to do her internship in the dream company of every individual in the job market!!!” Belle screamed aloud.

Milana looked around in embarrassment and not understanding why she was so happy. Of Course she will be happy for her but Belle seems too excited.

“Belle, everyone passing is looking at us” Milana whispered

“They should, do you know what it means to work there? Do you know how many people wish to become even cleaners in that company that is run by Logan Donatello himself, the most eligible and wanted bachelor by every woman in this large country Z, he has a lot of influence and power at the young age of 30 and is feared.

Milana listened attentively

“So tell me, hope you said yes?”

“I told him I will give him an answer soon”

Belle gave her a deadly glare “You aren't serious right, you better call him now and say yes” Belle pointed at her phone in her hand.

Milana sighed “I will, I just need to think about it overnight and I will decide”

Belle ran a hand on her long hair in frustration “Do you know the kind of opportunity that comes with working there, they might retain you as a staff by the time you graduate Milana. It seems you don't yet know what it means to work under Logan himself, it's like an easy way to success, you will be able to achieve all you want to achieve Milana” Belle said in a matter of fact.

Milana nodded, she understands Belle and knows she really cares about her and is saying all this for her own good.

She wished she could just call professor Kai and say yes so as to please Belle but there was something else. Belle was yet to know what happened that yesterday, she had bumped into Logan Donatello and was rude to him.

“Milana, what's on your mind, why space out?”

“There is something I'm yet to tell you Belle”

“What's that?”

Milana looked around “I bumped into Logan Donatello yesterday close to Professor Kai's office and was kind of rude to him. That was how my screen cracked”

Belle's mouth was left wide open in shock, she closed her mouth and opened it again.

“You already met Logan Donatello”

“Well yes”

“And you were rude to him?”

“Kind of”

Belle sighed, she started to think that the chance of her friend working there is now 50/50.

From the things Belle heard about him, she doubts such a man will tolerate any form of rudeness especially from a university student. Logan was the favorite amongst the 3 grandsons of the head of the Donatello family, he was not just anybody.

Belle looked at her friend who still looked nonchalant “well, there might be better opportunities in the future” Belle said before holding her hand and dragging her along so they could go have lunch.

With the look on Belle’s face, Milana could tell that she had messed up and was sure Belle felt like spanking her but just decided to let it slide.

Later that evening after having breakfast with Belle and receiving a scolding and lecture from her on her not to be rude to people because you don't know who will be of help to you. And Belle also told her more things about the Donatello family and the fact that they remained the number one family in Country Z.

After taking the scolding Milana went into her room and before she retired for the night she decided to get herself informed. She decided to do research about the Donatello family and many other families in control of the business world. Indeed as a business student she should know some of this things. She focused more on the Donatello family because there was so much news about them and even more news about Logan Donatello who seemed to be the golden child of the family. She read history spanning for centuries till date and about the present family head.

There was just so much about them that she ended up spending hours. She found out there was even a movie about some ancestors of the family.

“How could a family be this powerful?" was the only thought that came to her mind as she laid her head on her pillow. And to think she was rude to one of the power members of that family, well it seems she will just avoid ever coming across that man called Logan Donatello, she was just a young girl living her simple life, the last thing she wanted was trouble, he must have allowed her rudeness slide because of professor Kai but he might not the next time.

She finally came to a conclusion and decided to call professor Kai to give him her answer. She checked the time and saw that it was 10pm, he might still be awake.

“Octavian,” Professor Kai's deep but cracked voice said on the other side of the call.

“Good evening Professor Kai, hope I am not disturbing you?”

“Of Course not, you can go ahead”.

“I had called in regards the internship opportunity”

“You already have your answer?”

“Yes professor”

“Is it Yes?”

Milana sighed “Am sorry professor but my answer will be no. Thank you for considering me for such a great opportunity, but I have other options I want to pick from already”

Truth was she doesn't have other options yet.

“It's fine, but in case you change your mind, you can inform me,” professor Kai said.

“Thank you for your understanding professor”

Milana sighed in relief after ending the call.

Professor Kai dialed a number with no name and clicked to call. After ringing twice it connected.

“It's professor Kai, please pass the phone to him, I have got a response from Miss Octavian” Professor Kai said to the person on the other side of the phone.

After few minutes, the person spoke “Tell me”

“She said no”

There was sudden silence and deep sigh like that of frustration “I will handle it”

“Okay young master” professor Kai said and the call ended.

Professor Kai dropped the phone but wondered why the young master was interested in Miss Octavian. He was sure it was not because she was rude to him yesterday, he felt there was something else and he will surely get to know later.
