Chapter 3: Bumped Into Him

So after bumping into her, the only thing he could do was stand there and watch her. This made Milana angry “Are you just going to stare at me without saying anything?” She said in anger to him without caring that there were hefty bodyguards that were behind him. She is mentally stressed today already so the last thing she needed was a broken screen.

“Watch your tongue young lady” One of the bodyguards said “Do you know who you are talking to?”

“Whoever I'm talking to is none of my business the least he should do is apologize” Milana stared at the man dead in the eye.

All this while Logan had an expressionless look on his face, the only thing he did was just stare at her.

His bodyguard wanted to take action but he raised his hand to stop him.

Professor Kai who had the commotion outside came out and was surprised to see Milana standing there with a broken phone in her hand.

“Miss Octavian”

Milana immediately bowed her head to the professor “Good day Professor”

The professor nodded and then focused his attention on Logan “I'm so sorry Young master, she is one of my best students and is here to see me please do not take her errors too seriously”

She did not like him begging on her behalf but it was the professor so she could only be silent.

Logan nodded while still staring at the rude young lady before walking passed without a single word all through.

She released a breath she did not know she had been holding. The man had an intimidating aura, there was something about him that made her feel uneasy. But she is someone who is fearless so she will speak her mind.

There were students who stood from afar whispering amongst themselves, they must have witnessed what happened cause they all had a shocked look on their face.

But while they were reacting that way was what Milana was yet to know and also professor Kai had referred to him as young master, so who was that man? She thought to herself.

“Come in Octavian” Professor Kai said and Milana followed behind.

Professor Kai was one of those person's that called her by her surname.

“Have a seat” he said and she sat down.

“I'm sorry for what happened outside Professor, it's just that my phone broke as a result of bumping into that man earlier” Milana apologized because that man was a guest of the professor so speaking to the man the way she did in front of his office is disrespectful to him. Not that she regrets being rude to the man though.

“Have you had the name Logan Donatello before?” The professor asked

Milana thought to herself, the only time she had that name was earlier when she passed by the student in the hallway on her way to his office.

“I heard it a few minutes ago amongst the students in the hallway before coming here. Why do you ask the professor?”

The professor nodded and smiled, he realized he should not have bothered to ask because he has studied the personality of Miss Octavian. She is someone who doesn't care about status, even if she knew Logan, she would have still been rude to him. But he feels he should inform her next time because the young master might not let the disrespect slide again.

“He is one of the important members of the Donatello family, and the Donatello family indirectly owns this school because the company that found this institution, Dallan university, is under the ownership of the Donatello empire”

Milana nodded in realization, now she understood while everyone was on alert and the faculty was silent, it was because one of the school owners was present.

“Remember you are under a scholarship, and your scholarship was offered by another company under the Donatello empire” The professor added.

Milana nodded, now she understood why he apologized on her behalf, not because she was wrong but because her scholarship depended on that same family. This was something she could not risk especially now that she had one year left to go.

So now she will make sure to avoid crossing the same path with that man the next time.

After she was done in school she headed to

her apartment which is her old apartment now to go pick up her valuables then allow the people she employed to clear the apartment.

She opened the apartment with her keys then worked in. She closed the door and then stared at every corner of the apartment.

The paintings were old, the walls were cracked at different corners, the paint on the wall was dirty. Almost everything in the apartment was old except for the painting she bought two months ago, it was the painting of the moon she bought from a talented friend of hers. This was the place she grew up in with her siblings and mother, there were a lot of good memories, not like she never planned to leave such a place but not in this manner. Being thrown out was not how she thought about living in this place, she had planned on living in this place straight to a new apartment when she gets her first full time job after graduation.

After packing important belongings and taking the paintings on the wall she said her final goodbyes to the place before leaving.

The remaining unimportant stuff will be sold, that is if they will have any value.

Today was really a long and difficult day in her life but it also marked the beginning of a brand new Milana because today she got to find out things she didn’t know before like the fact that her father doesn’t know she exists.

It was exactly 8pm when she arrived at Belle’s place with the rest of her belongings. She is really grateful to Belle for allowing her stay for the meantime.

Belle excitedly helped her bring her things inside. Finally she will have Milana leave with her not like she was happy about what happened.

“Let me show you to your room Milana, you will love it”

They got into the room and Milana was surprised by the transformation. She entered this room several times when she came here and it looked like a storage room with an abandoned bed and wardrobe but now the excess stuff has been put away and the room looks clean with everything put in the right places. Belle was kind enough to give her a study desk.

She turned around and smiled at Belle “I love it Belle, thank you” Milana gave her a warm hug “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me” She said in sincerity.

Belle was like her guardian angel. They met in the first year of university and has been friends ever since then.

“You are welcome, what are friends for and also I should be thanking you for agreeing to come live here. Let me allow you to settle in, when you are done you can come for dinner. I ordered pasta and sauced turkey, your favorite.

“Awww, Thanks Belle”

After Belle left she freshened up and then went to have dinner. During dinner, Belle had asked her what happened to her phone screen since a part of it was cracked and she told Belle she bumped into someone.

The following day, she and Belle dressed up for classes that morning and after the first class, the course instructor informed her that professor Kai wanted to see her in his office.

On her way there, she wondered why he wanted to see her since it was just yesterday she saw him. He had already given her a deadline for the project he asked her to research which is next month.

She went to his office and he asked her to come in. Milana bowed her head in greeting to him and he gestured for her to sit with a smile on his face.

Milana sat down with curiosity

“You must be wondering why I had called you”

“Yes sir, I am since I was here just yesterday.

Professor Kai nodded “Yes, but I am calling you for a different reason. Every year the best students in 300 level in this department are given the opportunity to work in the best companies and for the first time ever a subsidiary company under the Donatello empire offers to take two of our best students to come for internship and you were the first that came to mind.

Wasn't the man she bumped into yesterday a member of the Donatello family according to what the professor had told her?

Milana wanted to clarify but did not know how to ask.

Seeing her lost in thought, Professor Kai continued “The man you had bumped into yesterday is the CEO of that company, he is the one offering the opportunity”

“Oh” Milana nodded, her mind went back to that person yesterday. After that incident, he did not cross her mind anymore. She is someone who is always occupied with her own life and problems, she doesn't have the time to fill her thoughts about others but now that his name has come up again she suddenly had that urge to search about him, she felt a bit uneasy about him even with the way he had looked at her that yesterday. So she will try to do her investigation to get to know more before coming back to professor Kai to let him know if she will agree to do her internship there or not.
