Chapter 3 – The Initial Confrontation
The drive to the mansion was silent. Aurora watched the city lights blur past the window, but her gaze was distant. Fear grew inside her as the car moved farther away from the life she once knew. Without her friend, the housekeeper, by her side, she felt completely alone, wondering what awaited her in that house that would now be her new home—next to a man who clearly hated her at first sight. In the front seat, Andrews’ assistant broke the silence: “Are you sure you want to take her home tonight, sir?” Aurora’s heart clenched. Even without looking at them, she could feel the tension in the air. “What did you expect? That I’d leave her in a hotel?” Andrews’ voice was cold, merciless. “She’s my wife now. Besides, if I made things easy, she’d run, and I’d lose every trace of this woman.” Aurora tightened her fingers against the fabric of her dress. He spoke of her as if she were an object, a problem to be solved. “But she wasn’t the one you were supposed to marry… This caught us off guard,” the assistant admitted hesitantly. She felt the weight of those words like a cruel reminder of her place there. She wasn’t wanted. She wasn’t welcome. Silence returned, broken only by the beep of Andrews’ phone. Aurora didn’t dare turn her face, but she felt the shift in the atmosphere. He went rigid. Something on that phone had bothered him. “She has no idea who she’s messing with…” His voice came out low, laced with fury. Aurora looked away from the window. A chill ran down her spine. She didn’t know what that man was planning, but she was certain she was treading dangerous ground. When the car stopped at the estate, Aurora got out alone. The housekeeper who welcomed her seemed kind, but there was something in the woman’s eyes—caution. Fear, perhaps? “Your bags are already in the main bedroom,” she informed. Aurora hesitated. Part of her expected Andrews to force her to stay in the same room, but apparently, he was too busy stewing in his rage. A small smile crept onto her lips—not out of relief, but because, deep down, she felt an almost childish satisfaction in defying him. What could he really do? As she walked down the luxurious hallway, her eyes wandered across the grandeur of the place. The mansion’s imposing presence made her feel small—but also sparked her curiosity. “The bathroom is ready. Your warm bath and clothes are on the bed, ma’am,” the housekeeper said. “If you need anything, just call.” Aurora murmured a thank you before entering the room. In that moment, she realized she was part of a game whose rules she still didn’t know. She murmured another thank you as she stepped inside. For a brief moment, she felt like a princess—surrounded by care that felt so distant from her reality. There were new clothes on the bed, and the room, though luxurious, had a peculiar scent. The fragrance in the air was masculine—something that didn’t belong. The atmosphere was dark and imposing, but had no trace of comfort. It wasn’t the kind of room she imagined for herself—but for some reason, she didn’t mind. She walked to the bathroom, closing the door behind her. The sound of hot water hitting her skin was immediate relief, dissolving some of the tension still clinging to her body. Maybe, she thought, the night would pass without further surprises. At least, she hoped so. She put on the nightgown the housekeeper had left for her—a black silk piece that clung perfectly to her body, highlighting her curves in a way that made her blush. Her hair was still damp, falling in soft waves around her face. The contrast between her dark locks and delicate skin gave her an almost ethereal look. Her eyes, filled with an innocence that didn’t match the situation, made her face look naively beautiful—and her calm expression masked the inner storm she tried not to show. She didn’t want him to know how much the situation bothered her. She thought maybe she could relax for a moment—but the night was far from over. With a small sigh, she opened the bathroom door. And that was when she saw the figure in front of her. Her smile faded. Her body froze. Her skin turned pale in an instant. He was there.Chapter 79: Confrontation in the Parking LotAurora felt a knot in her stomach, a wave of discomfort so strong she could barely look at him. It was hard to face him now that she realized he remembered everything."Are you going to ignore me?" he asked calmly. She tried to look at him and say something, but she couldn’t. Her eyes drifted to the ground, to the walls, to anything but Andrews’ eyes."I don't want to talk about it..." Aurora stammered, her voice trembling with uncertainty.Andrews watched her reaction closely, his gaze hardening slightly. He knew what had happened between them. He knew the kiss had been real, and Aurora's refusal to talk about it only made him more determined to understand what was really going on."It happened. I know it did." There was a hint of frustration in his voice. "Why are you ignoring it?"Aurora tried to walk away, as if seeking an escape, but he blocked her."It doesn’t matter," she said sharply, trying to bury the pain it caused her. "
Chapter 78: Another Part of YouDonovan, standing beside him, smirked and crossed his arms.“Well then. Maybe you’ve underestimated your wife. She could break your legs, Mr. Andrews,” he joked.Andrews kept his eyes fixed on Aurora, feeling something new stirring inside him. Fascination. Interest. And perhaps, a twinge of frustration at realizing that, once again, she was so much more than he had imagined. He continued watching from a distance as the event came to an end and Aurora walked across campus alongside Alice. His face remained expressionless, but his mind was racing, absorbing every detail.“What are you planning to do, Mr. Andrews? Want to go over there now? People are starting to recognize you. You should’ve come dressed more casually,” Donovan broke the silence.“We’ll stay a bit longer,” he said, without taking his eyes off Aurora. “I want to see what her routine is like here, what she does, what she studies.”Donovan raised an eyebrow but nodded, hiding a discree
Chapter 77: A New Way of LivingAndrews opened his eyes briefly, and the sun was already lighting up his room. He blinked a few times, confused. Had he… actually slept through the night? He got up abruptly, looking around, but Aurora was no longer there. He rushed out and found Jacy a few meters away, carrying a tray."Where is she? Is that for her?""It's your breakfast, Mr. Andrews. Aurora left before sunrise.""Why?" he asked, discouraged.Jacy smiled, noticing something in his expression."I don't know. She left as if she were running away and said she wouldn't return to the mansion."Andrews frowned."Do you know why Helena was here?""I'm sorry, Mr. Andrews, I couldn’t stop your friend Rodrigo... But as of today, Helena is being deported. Both she and her father are no longer part of anything in this country.""Good.""Did Rodrigo do something?" Jacy asked, swallowing hard.Andrews turned to her, his hands in the pockets of his pajama pants, letting out a heavy sigh
Chapter 76: Opposite Feelings“I’m sorry, Andrews, but all I have is a deep hurt from you. You’ve played with me so many times I don’t even know how I’m still here. So... I won’t give in to your advances… especially because...” she smiled bitterly. “When you’re well, you’ll just forget and keep mistreating me. You lie when you’re drunk, out of your mind, confused. Because when you’re sober, when you can really choose a path, all you do is hurt me. That says more than a thousand words. I’m not a toy.”Her words hung in the air between them. He stared at her silently, his smile fading for a moment while she held his gaze without looking away. It was clear they both felt something. He was silent for a while, as if trying to process what she had said. Then, murmuring almost in a whisper, his breathing slowing, he said:“You’ll see there is a way… If I finally realized there’s a way for everything, you can see it too. If you really knew me… would you give me a chance?”“Then who are y
75 – I Believe Your Confession. At the exact moment Helena pulled Andrews close, Aurora rushed forward without hesitation. Her hand grabbed Helena’s arm and yanked her back, causing Andrews to lose his balance for a moment. He staggered forward, leaning against the wall, his head spinning in a mix of confusion and daze. Before Helena could understand what was happening, Aurora raised her hand and slapped her across the face. The impact echoed down the hallway.“Don’t you ever touch him again!” Aurora shouted, her eyes burning with fury.Helena brought her hand to her face, shocked. But when she looked at Andrews, expecting him to take sides, she found only a lost gaze. No words. No reaction.“How dare you?!” Helena yelled.“Do you think Andrews is okay?”“He himself called me here!”“Called you? Really? He’s a married man, no matter who you were in the past. After all, what am I now?” Aurora asked, staring Helena straight in the eyes. “Are you content with settling into the ro
---With Helena petrified in front of him, Andrews took a step forward, his gaze serious and inquisitive.“What are you doing here?” His voice came out cold, but there was a different weight to it—something distant he couldn’t quite place, as if he had no control over himself.“What do you mean? You’re the one who asked me to come. I knew all that harshness was just a front. You’ve always liked me.” She stammered, genuinely emotional.“Are you sure about that?” he asked, locking eyes with her.Helena, with teary eyes, didn’t hesitate. She stepped forward and hugged him tightly, her familiar scent surrounding him.“Forgive me, Andrews…” she whispered against his chest. He tried to push her away, but his body didn’t respond. The effect of the drug Rodrigo had slipped into his drink made him sluggish, unable to react with his usual firmness. It wasn’t an aphrodisiac—just something that left him weak and dull.“Forgive me…” Helena repeated, her voice cracking.Andrews blinked, his mind fo
