Chapter 6

My note completely broke Troy. He let out a desperate, painful howl that shook the room. The front door was thrown open at that moment, and in stumbled Rue.

"Troy!" she called out in a panic. "I-I couldn't reach you, and I got so worried—"

Before she could finish, Troy appeared in front of her. One of his hands shot out, gripping her neck, and lifted her off the ground.

"I told you not to drag her into our business!" he seethed, eyes bloodshot and his voice hoarse.

Rue's face turned plum from the lack of air. She flailed at his arm, and she gasped out with effort, "I'm… carrying… your pup…"

A hint of mockery flickered in his eyes as he released her. "My pup? Estelle is carrying mine, too! If it weren't for you, she'd still be here, carrying what belongs to us!"

She collapsed to the floor, coughing violently.

"From today on, you're exiled," Troy said coldly, looking down at her. "I won't acknowledge the pup inside of you. He'll never set foot on my pack's territory—not even half
