April's pov

"April," I almost jumped out of my seat startled when I heard my name being called out in the loudest voice. I looked up from my phone to look in the direction of the person who called me. I raised my brows at the person questioningly. "Why are you looking at me like that? You do realize that you are in a group discussion, right?"the guy who called me asked. His name was Marcus.

"Of course, I do Marcus."I told him with a confused expression on my face.

"Oh, now you do? Well, you might have forgotten that a group discussion means participation from every member." Marcus said mockingly and I was about to say something but he beat me to it. "This group project needs your smart little brain to come up with your genius ideas. Now chap chap, let us get done with this project quickly because I need to leave. I have a party I need to organize."he told me.

I sighed closing my eyes annoyed. Of course they needed the nerdy stupid girl to come up with ideas. We were currently doing a group of four project that was due on Monday and today was Friday. I would have preferred that we did this another day other than today but since I was paired with a bunch of party people, they insisted on doing it today because they would not be available during the weekend. You guessed it right. They would be too wasted and hangover to even remember about a group project.

I shook my head opening my eyes. I was not letting them have their way when I was at risk of sleeping outside. The reason why I was on the phone was because I was looking for a new roommate. You might be wondering why I need one or where I had been staying before but it was a long story. Trust me.

"Marcus, I have an emergency that is more important than your stupid party okay. So let me deal with my emergency first and we can go back to the discussion. Plus, we are four heads, let others contribute too. Like you said, this is a group project the rest of you can contribute too."I told Marcus and went back to scrolling through my phone. I was currently scrolling through a few contact details that I got from the college announcement board. People in need of roommates had left their contact details there. So far, I had no luck because every contact I texted, they replied back saying that they already got the roommate.

"What is your emergency?"Marcus asked me with a concerned tone.

I looked up from my phone and faced him. I half bit my lower lip contemplating whether I should tell him the truth. I sighed finally deciding. "I am looking for a new roommate. I am in need of one like today before I sleep outside."I told him.

Marcus frowned and so did the rest of the group members. Of course they frowned. They possibly were wondering why I need a new roommate or what happened to my other roommate.

"Why do you need a new roommate?"another group member by the name Eric asked me this time.

"Because I was kicked out of the dorm today."I said.

Marcus smirked and I could see right through his smirk. I knew what he was thinking about. "I did not realize nerds could do anything bad to get themselves kicked out of the dorm."he said.

I rolled my eyes then I gave him a fake slight laugh. "Ha ha ha! idiot. It was not my fault that I had nowhere else to sleep. My roommate let his boyfriend spend the night in the dorm and you know how strict rules about letting boys spend the night in the on-campus girls dorm are. So, unfortunately, in the morning, the college dorm administrator was going around checking the dorms and my roommate was busted and that is how I have nowhere to sleep tonight. We were both kicked out of the dorms. At least she has a boyfriend, she will be staying with him in an apartment that is off campus." I explained but I think I told them too much.

"Oh wow, that is a tragic turn of events for you. Thought it was you who was at fault."Marcus laughed. "It would have been fun if it was you. But then it is not you. I do not think you can ever make a mistake." Marcus said and I scoffed. He was talking as if I was a Saint.

Wait, I was a Saint. It was true, I never made mistakes. I had never attended a single college party. I was always on time to get to class and I did my homework perfectly and submitted it on time if not the first one. I never even had a boyfriend or friends. I guess that had to do with me being a nerd. I mean, it is college, where everyone wants to have fun and I am not....fun. I was quiet and as most people would describe me, naive and nerdy. People like me were termed as boring.

A moment later, Marcus looked at me as if he just recalled something important. I hoped it would help me get a room even if it was for tonight before I figured things out on what to do tomorrow. "Ummm...I have this friend of mine. Alex, I think you know him, everybody does. He has a pretty big apartment that you can negotiate with him to let him share it with you."he said but that information just made me hate my life even more.

"Alex? As in Alex Gray?"I asked for clarification.

"Yeah?"Marcus said.

"No, I better sleep outside than even share air with him. He is the playboy of the college who has likely slept with every girl in the whole campus. I do not like the likes of such people. I cannot even stand being in the same space as them. But, thank you for being slightly helpful."I told Marcus. "If you may excuse me, I need to get back to my search for a roommate who is not Alex Gray."I added.

I looked away from Marcus who seemed like he had a lot to say. I knew he was about to convince me about thinking about it but as good as Marcus was at convincing people to get what he wants, this time it was not going to work on me because there was nothing to think about. Me sharing a room with Alex Gray was a big NO.

April's POV I stayed in my room till evening. I finished the project and watched some depressing videos. I came out because I felt hungry. I went straight to the kitchen. I looked around for Alex but he was not around. He had to be in his room. I looked at the kitchen and I sighed. I did not feel like cooking to be honest but I was starving."Oh damn. My mom would kill me if she found out I am ordering food when I can just cook."I said to myself taking my phone out to order. But just when I was about to order, a call appeared on my screen. It was my brother. What did he want now? I groaned bored."What?"I aggressively spoke."Calm down little sister. Go to your apartment's basement."Landon told me.I frowned. "Why?""Can you just go without asking questions?"I rolled my eyes before I decided to go to the basement. What did my brother want me to see? Was he in the basement? Wasn't he supposed to have left for Singapore for business? I stepped out of the elevator and I looked around m

April's POV I opened my eyes feeling more tired than I had been when I was lying down yesterday night. I was supposed to be relaxed but I was so fatigued I just wanted to keep lying down. But then I was not that sleepy. I sighed and I came to a decision to just get out of bed. I climbed down from the bed and run the back of my hand on my face before I bent to make the bed. At least I knew such basics. I was a very hygienic person so there were things that were automatic for me. I was a tidy and neat person in nature.Just when I tied my hair in a messy bun, I heard some commotions in the kitchen. I frowned. I did not hear Alex come home last night. But then I was a heavy sleeper. I got out of my room. I needed to freshen up but I wanted to see what was going on.I stopped at the kitchen island to look in the kitchen but I ended up freezing in my position involuntarily. I was staring at a half naked girl who was cooking breakfast using my groceries. What was going on? It took me a min

  • The Innocence Is Gone    getting along

April's POV The bell rung as I tried to clean up my mess. I knew Alex called someone to come and clean but I still wanted to try. I could not believe that I could not actually do it. I felt useless. It was just cleaning up the scattered food on the kitchen floors and walls. I just made more mess than I intended. I cleaned my hands and went to open the door. It had to be the persom Alex called. I opened the door. My mouth opened wide when I saw who it was. More than who they were. Marcus and his group of friends stood at the door and except for Marcus, everyone else was surprised to see me too. Why were they here? Didn't they have a party to attened to?"April? What are you doing here?" Olivia asked me surprised."I live here apparently."I replied and everyone frowned looking at each other. Of course they were surprised. How predictable was Alex to make people this confused when he did something out of his norm."No way." Maddy spoke breaking the silence. I was sure her statement was

  • The Innocence Is Gone    Handle my mess

Alex's POV I could not believe Landon just threatened me into accommodating his little sister. He actually threatened me. I did not know how to feel about April staying with me. She was annoying and I just did not like sharing things with anyone especially my apartment. To say I was not surprised that Landon suggested that his little sister stay with was an understatement. Everyone who knew me and Landon knew me all too well, knew that I was bad news. Landon was protective of his sister so why would he leave her with me? Unless there was a hidden agenda.Landon and I went way back. School wise and business wise. Me being from the Gray family and him coming from Hill family, we had met quite often mostly because his family and my family were business competitors. I hated the guy to the guts and I knew he would say the same about me. So despite all that he left his sister under the same roof as me? What game was he playing? He was not my friend to ask favours from me. We were business

  • The Innocence Is Gone    Naive

April's POV "What do you need little sister before I go?"Landon asked after he had taken my suitcases back to the room. It was a nice room I had to admit. So Alex like but a comfortable bed to sleep on.I was sulking at the moment so I did not reply to him. Alex was sitted in the sitting room watching some motorcycle races on his big tv. I was sitted on the dinning table somewhere far away from him."Damnit P, talk."Landon raised his voice at me.I glared at him. "Don't you raise your voice at me."I warned him.He sighed running his hands on his hair. "I'm sorry. You are just frustrating me at this point when you don't answer my questions."he chnaged his tone to a softer one."I don't want anything.""How is that possible? You are living on your own now. You need things like I don't know, a car."Landon suggested.I took in a deep breath. I needed to loosen up and stop sulking like an immature kid. I was mad but I had to think about what I want critically. My brother was right. Despit

  • The Innocence Is Gone    change of plans

APRIL'S POV I looked at Alex waiting for an explanation. What did he mean by what he said? "How do you know my family?"I asked when I got tired of waiting for Alex to take the hint and explain on his own accord.Alex stared at me. "Get your stuff June and leave. I don't even know why I am speaking to you in the first place."He told me coldly then the next moment he stood up straight and walked away. I jumped at the sound of the door banging. He went to his room.I sighed and I bent down near my suitcases. A few minutes later I was done packing and I was pushing my suitcases down the hall to the sitting room where I assumed Landon was. He was looking, no...surveying around the sitting room like a person who was hoping to find something he lost."What are you doing?"I cleared my throat before asking to gain his attention. He turned to look at me acting like he was not snooping a second ago."Are you done?" He asked looking at my suitcases."Do you know snooping is considered creepy?"I
