April's POV

"I do not have time for this April. Didn't you hear me? I have a party I need to organize. We cannot do this project without you because we have no idea what it is talking about." I almost laughed when Marcus said he and the rest of the group members had no idea what the project was about. Those were the consequences of missing classes. "I cannot sit here and wait for you to search for a roommate which is probably going to be a dead end by the way. The freshmen are in their process of reporting in, how do you expect to find a room? Anyone who needs a roommate is likely to have a roommate now." Marcus said.

I dropped my phone on the table when what he said made me recall the freshmen. No wonder I could not get a roommate after asking at least twenty people. What was I supposed to do now? I could not accept his idea about asking Alex Gray to share his apartment with me. He would not even agree to it anyway. Alex was the definition of cool. He could never have a roommate like me who was the opposite of cool whatever that word was. Plus, I did not feel like I was ready to be subjected to having to witness Alex get it in with different girls every night. I cannot stand that.

"Look April, Alex is a better choice than sleeping outside. Just accept talking to him and let us get done with this project." Marcus told me. I know he was just being selfish because he wanted me to help them deal with the project as soon as possible so that he could leave.

"Alex will never agree to share a room with me." I told Marcus with a sigh.

"It is worth trying. You know trying is better than sleeping outside. And I will be there to convince him. He is my friend of course he will listen to me."Marcus said. Like I said, he was very good at convincing people. He just convinced me about convincing his cool friend to let me stay with him. "Oh, just a reminder. He might want you to pay rent so be prepared for such a conversation."he added.

"I have not agreed to...."

"Stop being stubborn April. Alex is a better option for you at the moment. Now let us get back to the project, shall we?"Marcus said. I was left speechless with no words to retort. He just called me stubborn. There was no comeback to that.

We did the project and as expected, I contributed to ninety percent of the ideas. I even volunteered to write the final report. I knew the guys would not write the report and if they wrote, it would not satisfy me. I could not fail because I let some not committed people write a sloppy report.

"Great, now that we are done with this stupid group project, I need to leave. See you at the party Marcus. I am sure it will be lit."Eric told Marcus winking at him then he turned to look at me. "April, see you on Monday for the presentation. I know we will not cross paths during the weekend." Eric mocked me with a smile. I knew what he meant with his statement. He and the other guy left with him. His name was John. He was a quiet one but he still hung out with the cool groups.

It was now just me and Marcus. "Ready to go see Alex?"Marcus asked shoving his backpack on his shoulders.

"I don't think...."

"He will agree to it April. Trust me, you have a face that can be hard to say no. You just have to smile. You can be a little intimidating when you don't smile." Marcus told me leading the way. He was interrupting me a lot when I was speaking. This was the second time now and I did not like it.

But....I liked his compliment. I mean he just told me that I had a face that was hard to say no. That was a compliment right?

He led me to his car and I had to say, his car was nice. He had to be loaded with money to afford such a car. It was an audi R7. It had no many people on campus because no college kid could afford such a car.

He drove away from the campus grounds and he stopped around two kilometres away from the campus grounds. It was in the basement of a five floor apartment building. We got out of the car and he led me to the elevator and he pressed the fifth floor.

We got out of the elevator and he led me in front of a door that was at the far end of the floor. He pressed the doorbell and we waited for the door to open. As we waited, I realized I was sweating. My palms were a mess and my heart was beating very fast. I was nervous. Maybe a little scared. I was scared of Alex not agreeing to share a room with me. There was a big chance he would not agree and I would have to sleep outside. I could not believe I was hoping he agreed when a few hours ago I was against the idea of even trying to ask him to share a room with me. I was just desperate. Time was ticking and I had nowhere to sleep.

The door opened and there he stood. Alex Gray in the fresh with his perfect jet black hair that was wet and falling to his forehead down to his dashing green eyes. His full pink lips and the most sharp jaw I have ever seen. The guy was handsome, maybe a little too handsome. It was a crime to be as handsome as he was. I had seen him around campus, everyone had because he was hard to ignore. He had an aura and that added to his gorgeous looks, he was a real deal. He was very tall. I could guess six foot four. He was also very muscular which was something I was noticing for the first time. I had never seen him in a tank top like the one he was wearing now. The tattoos were visible. That was something new to me too. Of course Alex, the playboy would have tattoos all over his body.

"What are you doing here Marcus?" Alex asked in a cold expresionless tone. Judging by the tone, I had already given up. A guy with that attitude was never going to want to speak with me in the least.

  • The Innocence Is Gone    I am famous

April's POV I stayed in my room till evening. I finished the project and watched some depressing videos. I came out because I felt hungry. I went straight to the kitchen. I looked around for Alex but he was not around. He had to be in his room. I looked at the kitchen and I sighed. I did not feel like cooking to be honest but I was starving."Oh damn. My mom would kill me if she found out I am ordering food when I can just cook."I said to myself taking my phone out to order. But just when I was about to order, a call appeared on my screen. It was my brother. What did he want now? I groaned bored."What?"I aggressively spoke."Calm down little sister. Go to your apartment's basement."Landon told me.I frowned. "Why?""Can you just go without asking questions?"I rolled my eyes before I decided to go to the basement. What did my brother want me to see? Was he in the basement? Wasn't he supposed to have left for Singapore for business? I stepped out of the elevator and I looked around m

  • The Innocence Is Gone    selfish

April's POV I opened my eyes feeling more tired than I had been when I was lying down yesterday night. I was supposed to be relaxed but I was so fatigued I just wanted to keep lying down. But then I was not that sleepy. I sighed and I came to a decision to just get out of bed. I climbed down from the bed and run the back of my hand on my face before I bent to make the bed. At least I knew such basics. I was a very hygienic person so there were things that were automatic for me. I was a tidy and neat person in nature.Just when I tied my hair in a messy bun, I heard some commotions in the kitchen. I frowned. I did not hear Alex come home last night. But then I was a heavy sleeper. I got out of my room. I needed to freshen up but I wanted to see what was going on.I stopped at the kitchen island to look in the kitchen but I ended up freezing in my position involuntarily. I was staring at a half naked girl who was cooking breakfast using my groceries. What was going on? It took me a min

  • The Innocence Is Gone    getting along

April's POV The bell rung as I tried to clean up my mess. I knew Alex called someone to come and clean but I still wanted to try. I could not believe that I could not actually do it. I felt useless. It was just cleaning up the scattered food on the kitchen floors and walls. I just made more mess than I intended. I cleaned my hands and went to open the door. It had to be the persom Alex called. I opened the door. My mouth opened wide when I saw who it was. More than who they were. Marcus and his group of friends stood at the door and except for Marcus, everyone else was surprised to see me too. Why were they here? Didn't they have a party to attened to?"April? What are you doing here?" Olivia asked me surprised."I live here apparently."I replied and everyone frowned looking at each other. Of course they were surprised. How predictable was Alex to make people this confused when he did something out of his norm."No way." Maddy spoke breaking the silence. I was sure her statement was

  • The Innocence Is Gone    Handle my mess

Alex's POV I could not believe Landon just threatened me into accommodating his little sister. He actually threatened me. I did not know how to feel about April staying with me. She was annoying and I just did not like sharing things with anyone especially my apartment. To say I was not surprised that Landon suggested that his little sister stay with was an understatement. Everyone who knew me and Landon knew me all too well, knew that I was bad news. Landon was protective of his sister so why would he leave her with me? Unless there was a hidden agenda.Landon and I went way back. School wise and business wise. Me being from the Gray family and him coming from Hill family, we had met quite often mostly because his family and my family were business competitors. I hated the guy to the guts and I knew he would say the same about me. So despite all that he left his sister under the same roof as me? What game was he playing? He was not my friend to ask favours from me. We were business

  • The Innocence Is Gone    Naive

April's POV "What do you need little sister before I go?"Landon asked after he had taken my suitcases back to the room. It was a nice room I had to admit. So Alex like but a comfortable bed to sleep on.I was sulking at the moment so I did not reply to him. Alex was sitted in the sitting room watching some motorcycle races on his big tv. I was sitted on the dinning table somewhere far away from him."Damnit P, talk."Landon raised his voice at me.I glared at him. "Don't you raise your voice at me."I warned him.He sighed running his hands on his hair. "I'm sorry. You are just frustrating me at this point when you don't answer my questions."he chnaged his tone to a softer one."I don't want anything.""How is that possible? You are living on your own now. You need things like I don't know, a car."Landon suggested.I took in a deep breath. I needed to loosen up and stop sulking like an immature kid. I was mad but I had to think about what I want critically. My brother was right. Despit

  • The Innocence Is Gone    change of plans

APRIL'S POV I looked at Alex waiting for an explanation. What did he mean by what he said? "How do you know my family?"I asked when I got tired of waiting for Alex to take the hint and explain on his own accord.Alex stared at me. "Get your stuff June and leave. I don't even know why I am speaking to you in the first place."He told me coldly then the next moment he stood up straight and walked away. I jumped at the sound of the door banging. He went to his room.I sighed and I bent down near my suitcases. A few minutes later I was done packing and I was pushing my suitcases down the hall to the sitting room where I assumed Landon was. He was looking, no...surveying around the sitting room like a person who was hoping to find something he lost."What are you doing?"I cleared my throat before asking to gain his attention. He turned to look at me acting like he was not snooping a second ago."Are you done?" He asked looking at my suitcases."Do you know snooping is considered creepy?"I
